Too highbrow for today's kids. Why watch this when they can watch Tung Tung tung Sahur?
>>
Everything eventually dies given enough time. Except me. I'm immortal because I can't come to grips with my own mortality.

Are you a boomer by chance?

Creator lost the rights like a dumbass
>>
>>153268034
He lost the rights to G-Mod models?
>>
>>153267954
Ironically, before he stupidly signed the rights away, Skibidi was probably one of the best forms of indie animation out there. Dude was animating it by himself for the longest time.

Skibidi fans on suicide watch

Skibidi Biden buried it, it couldn't recover from the cringe.

Never let boomers touch your babies.
>>
>>153267954
The creator was a retard that signed a terrible contract without having a lawyer give it a once over
>>
>>153268154
I would argue it was actually the worst, a dumb concept lazily spinning its wheels for a ADHD audience then offering a crumb every now and again for the deep lore fags so they can gush about how this SFM asset flip is actually deep somehow.
>>
>>153267954
Sold out to a corpo, corpo had no idea what to do with it and let it die.

Many such cases.

Lesson is, never sell your idea/IP unless you have no love/don't really care for it
>>
>>153267954
Creator signed contracts he shouldn't have without reading the fine print. That's the whole story.

Greed

>>153267954
Inviz stole it
Skibdi is now dead
Human Being is the new series to hyperfixate on
>>
>>153267954
it didn't, it still has a loyal fanbase in japan for some reason
>>
how can you legally sell something which used assets that never belonged to you?
>>
>>153270031
Im shocked valve never sued
>>
>>153269382
It was never about le deep lore, people liked the animation and fights.
>>153270084
They didn't because they can't do shit. Dafuq owned the idea, not the assets.
>>
>>153269996
>one shelf of merch on the bargain bin rack is considered evidence for "a loyal fanbase"
lol
lmao

kids moved onto 67

fads don't last.
>>
>>153270183
The animation was mid for your average SFM animator he just cranked it out fast
>>
>>153270353
It was solid, specially for the later episodes, it got bad when the new corpo got their hands on it.
>>
>>153270226
You're right anon, next time he better post every single instance in the world
>>
>>153270466
It was mid, his stuff was never good with weight and the action was extremely basic. Top that off with all the models being lazily kitbashed shit and it was mid all around.
>>
>>153270866
his previous animations weren't focused on fights, he liked doing random shit like most sfm/gmod videos, he keep improving doing the skibidi toilet stuff. He actually good later on.
>Top that off with all the models being lazily kitbashed shit and it was mid all around.
I don't see the problem, models are there for people to use them.
>>
>>153270942
He was never notable among SFM animators on any aspect, he just struck it lucky with the algorithm jackpot. All he ever had was consistency. Also kitbashing is fine if all you're doing is a one-off shitpost, doing 80+ episodes of some shit with toilets and guys with TV heads comes across as lazy.
>>
wait, so let me get this straight
>Sold the movie rights
>Movie rights prevent him from making new content
>Because there's no new content, interest dies
>Corp left holding the rights to a dead property and even if they release a movie, it's going to bomb because nobody cares about Skibidi Toilet anymore
did I get this right?
>>
>>153271124
Not exactly, he signed a retarded contract that said they would fund a movie for him but only if he was able to reach an insane release schedule and if he wasn't able to keep up his end then they would own the IP wholesale. Also I think he signed away his merch rights as well.
>>
>>153271211
>if he wasn't able to keep up his end then they would own the IP wholesale.
Holy handrubbery, batman.
>>
>>153271124
Investors and Venture Capital types are notoriously retarded. Yes.
>>
>>153271228
Honestly it's his own fault for not having someone with legal experience at least give it a once-over and at that point he almost certainly had enough money to pay a lawyer to do it. The only way you can get fucked that hard is if you flat out don't read what you're signing.
>>
>>153271043
I often catch a glimpse at some half-life and workshop models and I just got along with it because it doesn't really ruin the experience in any shape or form. The only way this would be a problem is if you have some kind of autism but I get it, it's a zoomer series so it's must be automatically bad.
>>
>>153267954
I remember a Mexican comedy show from the early 2000s that had a Skibidi-like head coming out of a toilet. I think the show was called "El Baño"
>>
>>153271286
Like I said, it's just indicates overall laziness. I don't think anyone would care if he stuck to one-off shitposts but the moment he tried to make a series out of it you can't help but notice. Also saw a lot of zoomers saying the designs looked cool when they were all just generic suit models or toilets with a bunch of shit stapled on.
>>
>>153269443
I was reading about this recently and another thing the company that bought it out did was smother the fan community.
>>
>>153271408
Even modeling these takes some time, which could be better spent on animation. Modeling from scratch would delay the episodes way further and it doesn't really matter THAT much, as long as it server it's purpose.
Some designs are cool, simple or generic isn't bad per se.
>>
>>153268034
Lost the rights to using Half-Life 2 models for his own financial gain?
>>
>>153271749
So it's just quantity in the service of quantity which is why it's so mid.
>>
>>153271724
Skibidi! Gerasimov! Where are the toilets?!
>>
>>153274267
fucking lol
>>
>>153267954
You can only take a batshit insane arms race so far until you run out of ideas I guess.
Was it actually any good?
>>
>>153274643
>spoiler
for what it is, yes. the action and sound design is unironically decent, even if the latter was ripped from other media it still sounds good and was used to good effect. it gets shit for using gmod models, but the character designs starting around the series' midpoint and going forward are genuinely pretty cool and creative. story and lore is of course paper-thin but that was never the focus.

maybe take what I say with a grain of salt though, I watched the whole thing in a single go one day when I was extremely sleep deprived so idk how accurately I'm recalling it.

inb4 t. brainrotted zoomer/alpha
>>
>>153271211
yep, he signed away the movie+merch rights and i think someone said he blew the money already.
>>
>>153267954
Too derivative for classic SFM/Gmod enjoyers
Too engaging for brainrot zoomers
