Specifically the adventures are not real. He's the first to tease Pomni about her not accepting her new situation. He's fully aware that he as a person is trapped there forever, but the only way to stay sane is to treat the adventures as they are, just role playing games that reset once it's done. This is the playroom, where Zooble likes to test the player's dexterity and perception. Outside of play sessions, this is the go-to place whenever the characters need to wind down and enjoy a match of darts, air hockey or whatever they conjure for the time of a break. I'm annoyed that it's called Soma Theory, it's just what the show has been presenting since the very first episode, it's not a reference to some video game nobody played. It's just TADC reality and anyone with a measurable IQ immediately should have been able to pick up on it. In the final shot of the pilot, there's one headset set aside next to the computer. You don't see a woman hooked up to the headset, alive, catatonic, passed out, or dead. It's just set aside, empty, abandoned. So where's the real Pomni? Put in pods by evil C&A agents who sit around waiting for victims to wander in for years? No. She took it off and left, obviously. what did I not address? learning they have control over the game before the reality of the game is revealed doesn't cheapen anything, it infers that the game isn't as airtight as they think and that something complicated is happening they (and the viewer) are unaware of (and will be revealed in the ending). When hackers exploit a videogame they don't change the digital leger to say they instantly win every game, they exploit specific systems and lines of code to change how certain features work. Manifesting a door to another room does not intrinsically imply they can just shut off the game/create a tool that breaks specific features, there are complicated unwritten rules they are playing around to find a way out (exactly like a video game exploit). When Gummiegoo reappeared at Spudsy's he obviously remembers Pomni. That's the only possible way to interpret this expression. Either he knew he couldn't acknowledge their past or Caine explicitly prevented him from doing so.
If they have the ability to conjure Caine's actual code, they could certainly bring back this Gummiegoo. Not saying he'll be in episode 9 at all, just that it's possible.
