So I get that Dr. Orpheus and Jefferson Twilight are parodies of Dr. Strange and Blade, but what is Al a parody of?

not everyone from VB is a 1:1 parody, or even a combination of parodies. Sometimes they're just 'genre parodies' which is what I assume Al is, but I could be wrong. He might be something really obscure. I just think, ... we'd know? They would have said by now, and it'd be on a wiki somewhere.

Yeah yeah, I know, Rusty's past self is a parody of Jonny Quest while his current self is a parody of Benton Quest and he somehow co-exists with a character who is (officially) another parody of Jonny Quest. And the pirate is just the idea of a Scooby villain than anything in particular and I can't quite place my finger on Billy.
It's just really weird in Al's case because he was created specifically to be teamed up with two very blatant Marvel parodies and him possibly just being a generic alchemist sticks out.

I feel like maybe the joke with Al is that in contrast to the pop culture view of an alchemist or magician he is meant to be a more true to life depiction of what most alchemists were. As in instead of being some kind of sexy magical scientist or mystical greybeard he is a unglamorus bald middle aged monk.

Billy is definitely just the concept of a boy genius, a guy who wins a bunch of money on tv, a doogie howser, all of those together. Then adding onto it 'what if a condition actually keeps him short and boyish, so he just tries to extend the schtick'
Pete is just Doc Hammer. He's a self-insert.
