No. Absolutely not under any circumstance whatsoever that any conceivable goalpost could be shuffled to fit any arbitrary criteria. The character that appears in comics and cartoons has no place on the comics and cartoons board. End of discussion.
>>154050849 Nah, there was plenty of good stuff in the Dark Ages. It just gets overshadowed by the infamous shit. The space arc, off the top of my head.
>>154051778 Sonic 2 has more glitches, less platforming, worse enemy placement, worse special stages, Metropolis Zone, a boring plane stage, and no art direction by Oshima
This is bad game design. The stage is unnecessarily long as it is, and they make it worse by adding this unskippable shit. It's like they forgot about the 10 minutes limit
>>154052365 >worse special stages lol get filtered >more glitches You can't even land on spikes in Sonic 1 and Sonic sometimes jumps without spinning >less platforming Autist complaint >worst enemy placement Sonic 1 has worse hazard placement. The enemy placement in Sonic 2 is only really queestionable in Metropolis, which you already listed Speaking of, Sonic 1 has Labyrinth, and Labyrinth Act 4. >and no art direction by Ohshima Ohshima's rainbow vomit is overrated by hipsters.
>>154053494 Because the base gameplay of it is actually fun unlike pukebag zone. Running in 3D in the halfpipe and collecting rings is cool. The special stage theme in Sonic 2 is cool.
Sonic 1s is not fun. It's annoying and not even worth it to go for.
>>154061309 I'm not saying "Uggghh, thing bad!" you illiterate fuck. I'm making the point that experiencing these things in real time changes your perspective and that the late 90s to mid 00s of Archie is much less interesting than IDW. It's hard to convey how much nothing happened in Archie at that time. It's what people accuse IDW of being.
I want to discuss the books, but you're doing everything you can to not actually talk about it. Any further framing by me is just going to be putting words in your mouth. Actually *TALK ABOUT IT* when someone gives you a specific example to compare and contrast instead of making broad gestures and then whining about "what do you want me to saaaay umu" I want you to SAY SOMETHING since you have a strong opinion, moron.
>>154061554 I can't really talk about it in the specific way you apparently want me to, cause I don;t have that perspective. I can certainly imagine what it must of been like to slog through the Dark Ages, but I fundamentally disagree with the idea that it was universally bad and uneventful. I mean, it had the hundredth issue, which had Kodos go completely insane and feral for no reason until Sally, dressed in a harem outfit, kills him with a magic sword that has a creepy stalker crush on her. I cannot in all good faith say that's not entertaining.
Sure, you want an opinion? The Dark Age of the book was bad, but it was still fun for the most part. I'd honestly say the only actually insufferable part was the original 20YL, because ACTUALLY nothing fucking happens. Even Butler drawn milfs couldn't save it.
>>154061923 >the hundredth issue, which had Kodos go completely insane and feral for no reason The reason was that with Robotnik back from his 25-issue absence, the comic had to abandon all the post-Endgame storylines they wanted to develop and bring back the status-quo of Freedom Fighters vs. Robotropolis.
>>154061272 >japan women love him Not enough to give him any successful sale numbers in the country. And if there's one thing I've learned is that Japanese fans will buy everything with their favorite character in it. Or maybe female Japanese Sonic fans are just cheap.
>>154063432 Which was honestly for the best, cause the shit with Kodos and his merry band of C-list villains was clearly going nowhere. Frankly, Sally zapping his punk ass into the void was at least memorable, and really damn funny.
... Though it does make the end of 200 even dumber. Like, Sally has been shown to have no qualms about putting two in a villain's dome.
>>154061220 1 is for pretentious fags that care more about saying the game is technically "deeper" than whether the game is actually an enjoyable experience.
>>154063530 Everybody in Archie (not just Penders) hated having to bring Robotnik back, especially as his new Sega-approved Dr. Eggman design. If they weren't painting Eggman as mostly ineffective and useless compared to SatAM Robotnik (barring rare exceptions like Return to Angel Island), they were running flashback and fantasy stories where they could continue to use SatAM Robotnik freely.
>>154061923 >I can't in good faith call that boring. I sure can, because you can hype up any story by summarizing it like that. It's a bit strange, but it's completely lacking in energy or intrigue. They built it up for almost a year straight and the actual pages are really stiff and ugly. There's nothing to it.
>>154063853 Nah. I think Mystic Cave onward is way better than Sonic 1. It's just that the first half is fucking boring if you have any skill but aren't doing crazy self imposed challenges. Emerald Hill is only fun if you for all 7 emeralds in it. Chemical Plant sucks ass. Carnival Night and Hilltop are boring.
3K, Mania and to a lesser extent CD are the ones I like. 1 is much less interesting but pretty consistent throughout. 2 starts off ass then gets good in the back half.
Then again I can't stand Advance 2, so it's probably just what I value in playing a platformer "fast" being different.
>>154063312 It’s a weird situation since while he’s /v/ in origin he was based on >>154065261 and plus theres been Sonic licensed cartoons comics and manga since the franchise was like a year or two old and it’s been nonstop since.
What’s really surprising is that Crash and Spyro the other ‘90s cool animal mascots never got any /co/ during their heyday. A Saturday morning cartoon starring them would’ve killed in like 1997-2000
>>154071261 I always wish those guys and Sly or Jak or whoever else got a good animated series back then. I'd love to have more sonic situations where cartoony vidya characters crossover into /co/ mediums
>>154071419 There was supposed to be a Sly movie but then the Ratchet & Clank movie bombed and so Sly’s project got canned. Which is interesting because Sly is easily the easiest to market since it’s just funny animal heist adventures, versus Ratchet which is weird alien stuff and Jak which is weird elf people and magitek and then all of sudden GTA
>>154065683 Bullshit. People have more nostalgia for Sonic 2. Sonic 1 just gets given credit for Sonic 2's popularity because "it was the first". Most people mistakenly remember Emerald Hill as Green Hill.
>>154051778 It's classic blue sonic with the normal eyes, normal quills, normal shoes, good attitude, no pussy faggot Tails. Better special stage. Better music, better zones. Fuck you.
>>154049600 Can I just say that several of these issues, depending on the artists, drew some of the female characters in a way that awoken something inside a really young me that probably fucked up my taste in women to this day. Like Sally here especially did a number on me.
>>154051778 I played both on origins recently and I had a much better time with sonic 1. The levels felt more like classic platforming and is more consistent with quality while the sales in sonic 2 were too quick and speed oriented for me to process what is going on. The stages especially are designed for the speed which means the challenge in the platforming aspect is greatly reduced or the times they do require platforming it sometimes results in bull shit like cheap enemy placement or you unable to see the hazards in time to react unless you completely memorize the level layout. Also last few stages in sonic 2 are absolute dumpsterfire and I almost rage quit with the special stages. 3&k is still the best imo but I would much rather replay 1 and cd over 2.
>>154081591 >AoStH Snively with hair I assume he still loses it like in SatAM when Sonic runs past him so fast that almost all of it gets blown out of his scalp.
>>154050956 At one point, Sega kept getting letters from Japanese folks politely asking them what the fuck is a Sonic, and why was it always there on their arcade game ad flyers.
Which obscure male off Archie Sonic you guys like most (read; find them the cutest/manliest or hottest)?
Rotor for me. He was the one singular motivating factor for myself to read Archie thoroughly (and stayed for it, ended up really loving the comic in its entirety). Sad he was most disregarded of the FFs, but consuming it still flamed up ton my heart for.
I love his mascot'y overall self, the snout and tusks, I love his bandolier, and his cap or goggles. Matter of fact, do you guys like more his pre- or soft-boot self?
>>154048596 It's more /co/ than it is /v/. The cartoons and films are largely decent while the games are largely trash. The games are basically licensed kiddy fare at this point.
>>154063073 Uh no, platformers would be stuck in "rescue damsel in distress" mode to the point of diminishing returns. Sonic was needed to break away from that mold
>>154048596 It's a double edged sword. If you're posting video games, completely offtopic. If it's characters who aren't canon to the video game series, it's fanfiction for japanese shit, making it offtopic
Blame both sides of Sega for giving Archie bare bones material. It was especially bad during the Saturn Dry Spell This clown was gonna be the next "Ultimate Enemy" for Sonic. Nope Sonic Team can't have that
>>154106469 Fuck off retard. Your thread almost died from how *popular* your blue Felix the Cat rip off is.
You fags can't agree on creating something good if your life depended on it. And all your talented artists quit after Mania when they realized how scum and nepotistic those gooks are. The talent got busy making Freedom Planet and Spark the Electric Jester and many other Sonic offshoots.
Go ahead prove me wrong. Go make a fucking Sonic comic or even a pitch bible that isn't slop.
>>154049600 At least it kind of ended off on a good note. I've heard that the Zombot arc from IDW was supposed to be in Archie Sonic, I wonder what that would have been like.
