I worked for a small appliance manufacturer, not going to tell you which one, and about once every two or three years we got a complaint about our >1W vampire current draw. Out of about a million units sold every year.
>>2987945 Yep, that was me. Had a cheap peltier type fridge under my desk at the office. My employer, a top law firm, was incredibly rich so I didn't care about the electric use and doubt they would have either.
Samsung claims their AI fridge makes peltier cooling efficient in a hybrid construct. https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-unveils-new-refrigerators-with-innovative-ai-hybrid-cooling-technology-at-ces-2025
My 20 cubic foot LG LTCS20020S is running between 50 and 60 watts for a total of around 0.75kwh a day. If it didn't have to defrost it would probably be around 0.5kwh a day.
>>2990937 That used to be true for me, but it wasn't my own substance abuse problem - my brother is a raging alcoholic and when we lived together I couldn't leave anything alcoholic where he could get to it or it'd be gone by the next morning.
was cleaning out my pantry and remembered that there was an oddly placed outlet in the back. found one of these Cuisinart Wine Fridges on Marketplace for $50 and it fit perfectly. turn it down to lowest setting of 39 degrees F and it keeps normal drinks cold enough and you can fit two 12 oz cans where a single bottle of wine would go.
not sure about the power usage but it does produce a bit of heat out of the back but nothing crazy.
