I tried this with 2L bottles before. I think you have to go bigger. Look for restaurants throwing away 5 gallon buckets.

I'd just get one of those plastic 50 gallon drums and plumb a drip irrigation system to it.

Head pressure at the bulkhead connection will force a leak. Use a small (solar or battery powered) fountain pump and run the irrigation tubing out of the top of the barrel. Similar thread last month.
