Hey frens, I converted one of the blender sisnack models I use for mmd, since I heard other mmd-ers complain that there aren't many free male models for mmd, so maybe some of you might find it useful. (I never did an mmd model conversion before, so don't expect miracles)

The prettiest motions come from skilled creators, who usually have many years of exp and rep building, and those creators often choose to monetize their skill, that's all. Not gonna point fingers, but there are a whole bunch of shit-ass motions being sold, and there are creators who still suck years after starting. You can tell it's shit if the preview already has limbs clipping through non-physical parts of the body or the movements look jarring.

>>3080317 >Only the mods added later have good mesh and texture quality. true, and that's exactly why i kinda want them free from their TAH files, so we can mold them and create shit in an easier enviroment, like blender. having AVI's models (the ones that anon is asking) the adventurer set series mesh, SIY's loli(er) mods or HK body in other 3d editing programs would be nice. sure, tso2pmx works, and it is very customizable: you can create your own morphs and proportion files to edit the model as you want before you hit the conversion button, but it requires knowing the names of the bones, the morphs required to be for that specific mesh or heavysave to make it work, so you need to do a lot of trial and error if you don't have the game or the other tools people used through the years.

I have that blender version in an old directory copied from an old drive, and the script files are named "3dcg_tso_export.py" and "...import.py", along with several other related files. I guess if you're REALLY desperate, I could try to dig up an old drive with the personal mod notes I used to keep to find the original archive filename you could google.
I used to fiddle with 3dcg modding for quite a while, and being an EOP had to experiment myself and rely on poor instructions made by hongfire posters that were just as clueless as me at the time. My main procedure was using tso2mqo for getting meshes to and from .tso, and using a ridiculously buggy 3dsmax 9 plugin for editing weights in tso files. After many months of this, I eventually discovered the blender plugin, and it blew my mind that I could do everything I wanted with much less crashing and fiddling, the only annoying part was being forced to do the importing/exporting in 2.49b and do the actual editing in a newer blender version (I used 2.68a). I assume 2.49b won't be able to open .blend files for versions over like 2.7x or something without major bugs if your goal is to import stuff INTO 3dcg. Might still open fine for getting stuff out though. But I was losing interest in 3dcg itself so I never capitalized on the plugin's capabilities. Thank you for coming to my blog.

>>3081062 You definitely won't be able to make the plugin work in any recent blender version without rewriting the whole thing from scratch. Blender plugins often have issues across minor version differences. 2.49b -> 4.5 is an insane jump.
But if your goal is only converting stuff from .tso, you can import a tso file with the plugin in 2.49b, save the .blend file, and open that file in a newer blender version for the actual work. Opening new .blend files in old blender versions is buggy or may not work at all, but the inverse usually works, or at least is fixable with some elbow grease. Worst case, you'll have to save in 2.49b, then open and resave in something like 3.6 (last stable version 3 blender), and then open that in the most recent one.

While used for fun at the time, it was niche. Western 3d professionals used 3dsmax, maya, lightwave and such, and general hobbyists tended to use those as well because western software piracy was more normalized than in japanese communities. As I understand it, japanese 3d pros also used those pro tools. But japanese hobbyists often used metasequoia, as it was shareware and highly accessible without piracy.
3dcg modding was almost exclusively practiced by japanese communities. Illusion games enjoyed more popularity in the west, but 3dcg was niche. I couldn't read a lick of japanese when I was into it (not that I can read much now, but did spend a few years grinding anki vocab/clozed sentence decks at one point), and machine translation was utter shit then, so I don't really know what approaches they actually used. The only clues I had were the tools they shared on the uploaders, and some archives also had guides with screenshots. A lot of the tools and screenshots featured metasequioa, so I assume that was the standard for japanese 3dcg modding. There were two things stopping me from using it though: the poor translation of its interface, and its inability to edit vertex weights out of the box. Skinning support was a plugin feature in meta, I think the plugin actually cost money and was entirely in japanese.
Most 3dcg mods didn't need direct skinning support. Given how many updates to tso2mqo I've seen, I assumed that was the path of least resistance for most modders. Tso2mqo avoided skinning by requiring a reference mesh to skin the result. Like if you made a shirt, you provided the body you intended to use the shirt with, and it just did auto-weighting. Utterly unacceptable if you're the one making the bodies, or if you need precision. But that's not most mods. I assume the guys making the high quality bodies/clothing were using meta with the skinning plugin.
Anyone got any leads on where to find tarara's models with kemono still being dead? Found some of his stuff on tstorage and internet archive though it's only up until 2023. Trying to get my hands on the hasumi models.

Bit of an odd ask, but is there anyone that does more of what you used to see in MMD before KKS started being used more heavily? I started going to NND to find some of the multiple girls (3 or 4) dancing, but my end goal is strip dances with multiple girls. Physical strip is ideal, but good transitions works fine too.

dw abt the other videos, i already scraped/downloaded all of yanlinns highres videos and models from 2021 to 2024 on patreon to kemono. it's just that the private videos on iwara weren't availble on patreon, and they said i couldnt purchase the videos individually.
