What is she supposed to do in a situation like this? Man I remember being in high school in the mid-late 2000s and overhearing some guys talking about how they did this and I was so jealous, I thought that was the coolest shit ever, hanging out with some cute girls from class at night and seeing their boobs. By the time college rolled around I was all in on my autism, it was already over for me, I worked off semesters to minimize my debt but I was poor and didn't get a car until after graduating.
Not entirely a bad ending tho, I did live in a dorm and did find a core friend group, and I had a gf for about a year, never really had any wild things like that happen though.
Anyway, I guess it technically could still happen in college, but I feel like there's a lot different in the high school vs college ecosystem. In high school you all saw the same people everywhere and interacted with them and got to know them over the years and half of them were girls and having a car or alcohol really meant something. Just having one of those things turned you from a nobody to somebody interesting.
In college the only same people you see are in your program, which for nerds like me is 99% guys, so the whole dynamic is different. Nobody cares if you have a car or alcohol. There's no social 'clout' (for lack of a better term) or sense of rebellion in going out at night and driving around and drinking and hanging out, which I think is part of the charm.
