Anything up to $500, used or new.
Plenty of great wristwatches with that price ceiling. Especially vintage and Chinese.
Post your scores, your collections, your desired pieces.

After no purchases in a couple weeks and sending back that 36mm Pagani Tudor Ranger homage, I browsed and searched and deliberated and finally pulled the trigger on this baby.
Can’t go wrong with Baltany, and the specs are just perfect. I don’t like the 47mm to 50mm lug to lug you get on a lot of these types. And a smooth, bi-directional ceramic bezel will be a nice new feature in the collection.
I came close to getting the SH Murph for about the same price, but I just can’t live with their logo.
This watch was the one. Probably done buying for a while. Still have a Swatch on the way.
I’ll be waiting a bit and maybe getting something over $500 next.

My other Baltany. Smallest, thinnest automatic I own. Wearing it to church later.
Gonna drink more tincture. Sermons are more interesting when I'm stoned out of my gourd. Tjankfully I only get dragged to a 'house of the lord' on Easter or for weddings.

Found a oysterquarts/prx homage on amazon ill show it when it comes in about 20 days.
Sekonda makes watches that hark back to their soviet watch roots and are a completely chinese company now. I know ive made a few purchases now but i might pick this one up at some point cus its pretty. Its a design thats supposed to look 1950s. £39.99 right now so biggie.

Gross. You really shouldn’t spend less than $30. Very little any good for $10. Poedagar are surprisingly good for that price, but they still absolutely suck finishing wise. But they keep good time. Too many compromises with ten dollar watches.

Swapping straps to keep things fresh. For a while I was not into steel bracelets but that has changed. Proxima is back “home”. $150 - $200 Chinese watches have really great bracelets. Far better than Seikos of that price. Come to think of it $60 shitters have better bracelets than Seiko 5s come with.

I've learned that when I get multiple clear images and video where I can see and hear the watch wound/running I'm always satisfied with the purchase. And there are so, so many to choose from. Take your time and don't buy if you have any doubts. Scroll down or wait two days and you'll find something you like even more. I got burned on a couple of my first vintage buys. I learned quickly what to look for.

Addiesdive I bought recently for 85€. Happy with most of it except I wish I had chosen a different dial, I was afraid of the other options being too loud but this one really is pretty dull. Also a rare model of theirs without sapphire glass, just mineral glass.

If I "know you're right" I wouldn't have disagreed with you in the first place. Where is the logic in that?
Your opinion might be considered if you posted yourself wearing what you considered not gay. Perhaps you don't have the wrist to support anything and you're really going after anon because he's wearing a watch that you could sport if you wanted. If only you had the courage to wear what you think others consider a granny watch. Or you're stupid and you have bad taste. Condolences.

>>18682234
No it doesn't. Even from that angle I can tell that he has plenty of clearance on the top and bottom of the case. Even with the integrated bracelet that wears fine on him. There are certainly examples on this board of people wearing watches too big for them. That's not one of them.

Going to Tokyo for vacation next month and I'm tempted to buy a field watch. Any recommendations for a watch newbie? Been rocking a G-Shock for a long time and I'd like something a bit more formal while looking fairly tasteful.
>>

>>18682042
Watch so sexy it has a condom for a hand.
>>18682819
Maybe avoid timex they seem to be the loudest ticking field watches in the world. Id also like to add perhaps a pilots watch may be a bit more formal while keeping the military element. Ive been looking at them the past few days and i think look better perhaps even sexier than field.
Brand recommendations on the board are full of memes and bait. Perhaps just checking your countries regular jewelers and finding something you like, at a fair price vs amazon price would be best. And please be realistic on the size of your wrist, for your desired look to be as you hope it would.

Yeah. They were an extremely high quality clone of the IWC ingenieur, so much so that IWC felt compelled to threaten to legally rape them if they didn't stop selling them. Now they sell for up to 6x the price on ebay as you see in that pic, which funnily enough is still only like 1/10th the price of an ingenieur

Leftover soviet watch company in Germany still makes watches today in the 80’s alarm function style. Now a fully German company.
I quite like this style quite robust and i like radioactive glow looking markings. Btw the replacemnt sekonda came and is ticking nicely, guess i just got majorly unlucky the first time.

Pretty neat looking at the different culture. All kinda of differences. Like this was considered a womens “occasion” watch known as a cocktail watch. These can be worth quite a bit. Good condition £400 - £500.
If there was a catalogue of sekonda early 90’s designs itd be cool to see how it got modernised and anglicised into the western demographic. There are surviving pieces of course but nobody seems that interested in it as a whole.

I was going through my messages in aliexpress and I came across a whole series of photos from the store I bought my Proxima from. Shortly after I ordered it they'd sent pictures of it from multiple angles and how good the lume is and how it tested on the time grapher.
Pretty cool. I checked and none of the other stores did that.
So while I've already recommended this watch for its quality, I can even more strongly endorse Proxima for going the extra mile with that stuff. It was also only one of 4 places that signed the warranty card.
San Martin sent a print out of the time graph results though, so I know they test the movement before shipping too.
People who bitch about Chinese watches have never bought any in the $200 range. I'm pretty sure they have no experience with them at all. A $200 Chinese watch is at least as good as a $500 watch from anywhere outside of China.
>>
>>18683938
Remember there is no "good" in watches. The best watch objectively is a quartz casio.
A chinese shitter won't get you what you pay for from a swiss brand which is things like brand recognition, the feeling you're connected to some vague history of watchmaking, the feeling of supporting the west over the east etc.

Almost all of the watches in my collection are good though. You aren't here so you don't know. I don't care about brand recognition or the vague history of watchmaking. I have Swiss watches and historical watches and watches older than anyone posting here too. Mostly I have Chinese ones though. I love all of my watches. There's good in that.

Yeah, looks like you can get it for as low as $80. Depending on the dial choice the logo isn't that conspicuous. There are far dumber logos on Chinese watches. Octopus Kraken makes amazing watches but I wouldn't want their logo on one.

This is a cool Watchdives watch. The upgrade to sapphire is only $11 extra dollars.
Think about that when Seiko or the other "entry level" brands won't give you sapphire at all for under $500 unless it's quartz and even then they usually won't.
$11. Sapphire should just be standard.

So I guess screws coming loose on watch bracelets can happen. Using a winder is only making it worse I'm sure.
I read that people use Loctite to prevent it from happening (I've also read that brands like Versace glue the screws at the factory making it hard to adjust at home), and since my bracelets are all perfectly sized with many having microadjustment capabilities, I figure what the hell.
Has anyone glued their screws or had to use a soldering iron to melt glue and loosen screws? I'm not going to have my watch just fall off like I've read can happen. I tightened all of them in all my bracelets but I don't know how long it takes for them to work free again. I also like to spin the rotors on some watches so I flick my wrist more. I remember thinking it was silly reading about how stuff like playing tennis or golf could affect your watch.

>>18684014
No, I don't ever expect anything to appreciate in value. I do expect certain ones to become scarce or go up in price. Like if I'd started collecting watches just 3 years ago I'd have paid 40% less for a lot of the watches I have. You could still find some Seiko 5s for under $100 3 years ago.
Buying watches as an investment is stupid in my opinion. I know I would just lose money on anything I sold. I just wonder if the IXDAO guy from a few months ago is still around.
