Are they out of fashion?
I am bald now so i am trying to cope somehow covering my head with something that looks nice.
The problem is that i feel like a jackass wearing one when nobody else does.

Hats are perfectly fine for outdoor days. Hiking, biking, fishing, walking, picnics, gardening. Having a coffee at the outdoor cafe. Inspecting the troops. Patrolling the perimeter. Whatever.
Where it becomes cringe is when you're wearing it at night, indoors, in the shade, in air conditioning, for no obvious or even not so obvious reason. Not because of some "rules" but because people instinctively feel that it's out of place. And subconsciously, they will think less of you for it. They may not even know why they feel a certain way, they probably won't think "hat! indoors! oh no that's heckin cringe!'
It's just that no one else will have one, there isn't any "feeling" of needing protection from the sun or rain. So you're going to seem a little off to them. And that coupled with your pre-existing lack of confidence, will not be a good look.

It's really all about how you wear the hat that makes the difference. There's nothing wrong with a bald guy protecting his pate from sun, cold, or rain. Never removing ones hat even in private indoor spaces is obviously peak insecurity though.

The problem is that once your hat goes on, your hair is fucked up for the day until you take a shower, so you might as well just keep it on.
I'll pretty much decide when I'm leaving my apartment, do I wear a hat today? Is it a hat kind of day? And if the answer is yes, then I'm committed.
>but that's insecure!!!! just b urself!
Being insecure is being myself though?

Just shake it a little, it's not that bad unless you have gigalard hair, in that case you need to shower more often instead of just after using a hat,

There's a solution to the problem.

You'll get over it eventually. I'm constantly one of the few hat wearers as well. And hey, everything comes and goes in cycles so eventually people will wear hats again and you'll be ahead of the curve.

Are we really going to pretend all hair behaves the same? Why do you retards think there's like 400 different types of hair product out there?
>>

Murrays pommade + Royal Crown hair dressing is my go to if I'm going to give a shit about what my hair looks like after I take my hat off. I just comb it after taking my hat off it it's out of place.

Yeah putting shit in your hair certainly can help wrestle it into submission, personally I don't like putting extraneous shit in my hair, the only "hair product" I'll use beyond just expensive shampoo + expensive conditioner is the occasional olaplex pre-shampoo hair mask shit but that comes right out. Just about everything else either doesn't do what I want it to do, or if it does, it irritates my scalp. But we're getting pretty far off topic here which was hats, the point was, if I put on a hat, it's staying there for the rest of the day. If I know I'm going to be somewhere that would look silly with a hat, like a nice restaurant, I just won't wear a hat, or I'll arrange that I have to wet my hair and take a shower and change first

Nah you just live in florida so you assume hats, gloves, and umbrellas are just TV props that annoying people use to be annoying. Because everyone is annoying in florida but most people don't require any "accessories" beyond shoes and shorts

becauss back then a hat was part of the 'male uniform'. society was dominated by tradition and people did things because 'thats what my dad did'. no one really communicated globally so new ideas and opinions spread slowly.
>>
>>18704279
Hats were part of the "male uniform" because we were less than 1 generation removed from cars being a novelty where a well-off family had one car, maybe. When you walk to buy groceries or at least walk to the tram to get to work, you tend to value the added comfort of a hat. This is such a wild concept to people nowadays that they think people wore hats because of "god" or some shit

So you think people in chicago wore hats because of god, got it. That's clearly a much more logical explanation.

They used to be an indicator of class. Hats are performative as much as functional.

>society was dominated by tradition
it still is, but the tradition has transitioned from WASPs to intelligentsia / avant-garde / college campus communist values. Why do you think the modern fashion scene is full of clothing that's either lazy or absurd?

>its been so hot and sunny
>baseball hats genuinely do a terrible job at blocking the sun compared to most other hats
>most other hats are autistic
What do you even do
>>18701332
Nobody provides hat racks anymore so what are you supposed to do if you're wearing a hat but then go inside?
>>
>>18701069
I see no problem with hats to be honest. Just own it.
I ride a bike and have longer hair, so it gets fucked by my helmet. As a result I use a cap or a beanie to keep it contained (it’s at the awkward Length where I can’t really tie it either.)

Panama, straw pork pie (sometimes mistakenly called a boater), actual boater. There's tons of other straw hat designs that are more casual.

Honestly depends. If you're in a public lobby like a hotel lobby, airport, or shopping, don't take off your hat unless talking to someone directly- and you just hold it cradled in an arm when you do. If you're in a restaurant, put it next to you if there's space in booth seating or a free chair, otherwise put it on your knee. If it's someone's house, ask the host. Many theaters and some places like museums have free coat checks that will store them.
Barring those, leave it in the car or just wear it- these days no one knows hat etiquette so it's really just up to you. That said, people can tell if you wear a hat because you enjoy it vs use it to cover up a bald spot by the way you act with them.

Fashion is gay. Wear what you want. I've personally always disliked trilbies though. Unless you have peculiar face proportions and it actually suits you, get one with a wider brim ie. a panama hat. If that feels like too much, then maybe a linen flat cap.
