outside of like designer/archive type shit on my day to day i wear mid century vintage somewhere in between workwear thread and tip. i go to estate sales and get my shit on ebay. if you open up a sears catalog or w/e and learn the history of what brands were available at the time and good in each category and just avoid the most hyped brand u can get insanely nice stuff for like 20, 30, 50 bucks. i just find stuff that ppl took bad pictures of but i can tell its nice or listings ppl passed up because the brand isnt as known. i know how to id stuff the seller doesnt know is vintage. ill just lowball bid like 70% the asking price if its been up a bit or what i think its worth usually they'll hit me back something fair.
u can do this with like any decade u dont have to dress like me and u can make fits built this way look very modern. i recommend like post y2k or older eras because clothes were made a lot better before nafta. even the early era of outsourcing was fine because material quality and complexity of construction hadn't been squeezed out yet. clothes kinda became ass unless you spend a lot of money and know your shit after 2008 or so. before then everything was pretty good and made in usa/hong kong/europe/etc.

like if youre broke you might not have 100 bucks for some vintage orange tabs but if you spend a bit of time to actually learn the other brands you can get shit thats better than them listed for 20 bucks for 3 weeks bc no one searches the search terms and then throw him a 12 dollar lowball and get a pair of unsanforized selvedge 1960/70s vintage jeans. everything 1950s and older gets a bit more expensive. everything pre war gets astronomical.

i wear different shit all the time i just wear what i like. im into gorp too. i have different styles i do different days. ive been collecting quality shit this way for like 20yrs you're not going to have the depth of wardrobe and its not worth it to build that up really fast do it slowly and really think about how the pieces u get fit into your style, only get shit you really like, don't buy stuff for the tag look at things for the garment itself.
ask yourself who you are, how i dress is largely downstream from function, i dress according to what im doing.

i have a closet full, a dresser full, boxes in the closet with vacuum bags of rolled up clothes, more of that in my garage and storage unit. vacuum bags save a lot of space.
>Do you throw away stuff after awhile
never, if i like it. i try to minimize waste and environmental impact as much as i can buy buying only things i really like. when i was younger i wasn't as good at that. im into visible mending and older clothes that were made better look cooler instead of shittier as they break down. sometimes instead of fixing it i'll cannibalize it to fix another garment.
>or just resell that shit
if i fall out of love with it i do. half the time i regret it.

i have like a wardrobe for vintage streetwear, one for gorp, one for techwear, a lot of shit from various designers ive been into over the years some im still into some i keep for the memories and luls, i have my actual outdoors gear (highly specialized for low environmental impact and high rainfall, not typical pct yuppie shit) cuz im a backpacker, i have vintage outdoors gear bc its better for the environment when im not doing might die tier stuff where the modern stuff matters, im _really_ into workwear militaria and americana, im kinda into western shit, im really into filson/pendleton/pnwcore shit and i have a vintage collection of that type of stuff, i got gear for shit i do like mma, traditional martial arts, riding, boating etc, i could go on forever this really is just the tip of the iceberg.
what i wear is me. if i didnt gatekeep you'd be wearing my skin. find you.

Asians have done such damage to fashion in the past 15 years. Almost as much as African Americans in the past 30 years. Almost as much as Gen X'ers in normalizing T-Shirt wear in professional settings.
>>
>>18716607
hard agree
i like streetwear but on a whole it made men dress way worse than before it was a thing
it gets worn in very inapproporiate settings
i see fits the same way as acid trips all about the set and setting
>>
>>18716607
asians make the best quality stuff but the way they approach fashion can be too rigid and trend-chasey there are exceptions though and some of the most fashionable friends i have are asians (the type who live in asia not here)

No, I’m in Europe and I’m probably less outdoorsy than you seem to be. However I share a lot of the things you’re saying. I also mostly buy used stuff, and I like to hunt for lesser-known vintage brands that I like in second-hand markets and online platforms where the prices are low. I agree with your practices in that sense. Even the styles you wear are basically the same as mine. I try to keep my closet fairly small, measured and controlled, so to speak, because I don't want to have unnecessary stuff I never wear. I only keep a few specimens of the items I wear less, while I tend to overdo with the ones I wear often (shirts and wool or cashmere sweaters, for example). I have a solid base of high-quality items I acquired new, but they only make up a small percentage of my wardrobe, and I still like to mix them with used and second-hand items. When something gets torn, has a hole, or I see it's fragile and weakened, I take it to the local seamstress as soon as possible and have everything mended. This way, clothes, especially if you intervene well in advance, can last forever. I agree with everything you said about buying only things you really like, slowly and patiently, and I also only sell if I don't like something (and often regret it later, lol... relatable).

same at all of this, i buy stuff new too probably 30% new 70% used.
>>18716612
i have to gatekeep it because i know a bunch of youtubers and influencers read this place. the archive's indexed on google so they wind up here when they research their videos. i know some lol.
for some intro level ones where the spot's already been blown up tho, watch coyote sharp's videos on yt they're probably up your alley. i kinda already told u how to find other stuff. men shopped out of catalogues a lot more often before fast fashion era. literally download pdfs of them and then find the garments online.

I don't disagree in the least that some Asians can be superbly fashionable. But as a people their direction is so erratic and diffuse. They are so high in individuation, the overarching vision they bring forth confuses the masses and leads us to normalize the wearing of the most hideous and peculiar garments.

zoomzooms are all gay so they’re obsessed with stinky grandpa shit. they also have a really weird and contradictory relationship with feet: they seem to hate them but at the same time they’re constantly slamming their nasty jock socks in other people’s faces, like “look at my socks look at my socks, sniff my feet bro lol”. such puzzling creatures

Well for once don't wear shorts that are knee length or longer such as outfit 2, for outfit 3 I can't quite tell if they're supposed to be really baggy slightly too short pants or really long shorts like they used to wear in the early 2000s or so but either way it looks terrible. Then outfit 5 is almost a good length for shorts since you can see his knees but I think they should still be 1-3 inches shorter so you have a little bit of lower thigh showing. Never understood the point of shorts that don't show your thighs at all personally. Not saying we need to revert to 80s short shorts but I'd say for example a 9 or 7 inch inseam looks a million times better than a 13 or 11 inch inseam unless you're so tall that 11-13 inches show some lower thigh on you.

thank you so much for saying that actually! it feels like you stole the thoughts right from my head. the 80s shorts were indeed pretty terrible but still, shorts are about showing your legs. i normally wear shorts that end about 2 inches above my knees so showing some lower thigh like you said and my athletic shorts and swim trunks are quite a bit shorter
somewhere i worked as part of a uniform you could choose between pants and shorts and i chose shorts but they didn't tell you the length of the shorts. turns out they were knee-length. as soon as i put them on and they touched my knees i hated them already. i thought i might get used to them but nope the feeling of them hitting my knees every time i walked was unbearable since i'm used to wearing slightly above the knee shorts and i had to return the shorts and just got the pants instead. good decision on my end

I agree with both of you. The best length for shorts is between slightly above the knee to mid-thigh but any longer or shorter than that and they start to look disgusting.
>>
>>
>>18717125
knee length shorts are good if they are baggy but they are hard to get right, i agree hard with this guy and he shows visual examples: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fB58j6O1d_Q
short shorts are a lot easier to get right, if you look good they always look good no matter how the leg opening's shaped.

I'm a gay man who has been struggling with getting an erection for weeks when I got to this part like 5 seconds in, suddenly the hardest hard on I've had in probably months. This man in specific at least should absolutely NEVER go longer than a 3 or 5 inch inseam. I actually got a little sad when I saw him in knee length shorts about 17 seconds in. And before anyone says anything about his legs not being hot this is just my opinion okay. I'm sort of specifically into average looking pale legs. Not really into super muscular legs or whatever.
>>
>>
>>18717437
i wouldn't go as nearly as far as you but yes he does have pretty nice legs at least for an average guy (not exactly a super high bar but they still are decent legs) and the short shorts do suit him the best

not sure what the hell you schizos are on about but if those are nice legs to you then you might wanna see a doctor. those legs look straight up porcine actually
