I fell for the "barefoot" meme
>be me
>go walk barefoot outside on the dirt
>never ran or did anything stupid, just walking
>massive foot pain for 2 weeks
>walk barefoot again
>massive pain for 2 weeks, this time in the other foot
>walk barefoot again
>this time I can't even walk the next day because of foot pain
>walk barefoot again
>this time I have pain at the top of the foot, whereas the other times were at the bottom

>Dirt is way softer than the floor
Which is why it's bad to walk on it barefoot. The many random ways your feet get deformed on it while you're walking is what fucks them up. Assuming you're not gypsy that's been walking barefoot since they were a kid.

to walk outside barefoot you need extremely dirty feet
the dirt will be a built in layer that absorbs most of the hits
not worth it imo. just buy those "barefoot" shoes that allow your toes to spread out

Can't you just wear shoes that are a size larger? Those barefoot shoes seem needlessly expensive

They are not completely rigid, just mostly. It is orthopedic footwear that has optimum flexibility for the foot.
The problem is our feet aren't accustomed to walking barefoot and you're gonna have a lot of pain if you try it as an adult. You may not be able to walk for a couple of weeks because of the pain, just a cautionary tale. You will recover of course.

I have walked barefoot my whole time, do 'people' seriously get such pain from just walking outside with no boots for the first time in forever?

Yeah they do. I know a couple of other people so it's not just me
>>77315035
How often have you been doing it? There's your answer. If you're just starting enjoy your pain

We've invented concrete and tiles and other hard surfaces to walk on without the hassle of dirt, so yeah that's gonna be a problem if you go barefoot. You're gonna have the hassle of your feet and body trying to adapt to something that was once natural. Nothing surprising.

Not a barefooter, but just going barefoot doesn't tell the whole story.
You could be overweight, have a shitty gait that means you stomp.
Walking is just something that happens to some people's bodies, most people aren't walking correctly at all

Saguaros cost like 30 bucks on Amazon, they're periodically on sale for 20. Aldi sells them for 10. I've seen many people wearing that type of shoe at my gym, including trendy teens and thots. The five-fingers meme is dead if that's what you were referring to.

In my experience, when people ask how I'm so good at walking on gravel etc. that looks painful, my best guess is it's 20% having toughened soles, 40% being mindful of how you step (it's pretty painless so long as you keep sharp spots out of the arch) and 40% just getting used to the pain. I can't imagine starting barefoot walking as an adult, but I'm grateful I grew up with it.
IMHO the real magic behind barefoot walking is mental/emotional processing. Walking is a form of EMDR, and doing it barefoot magnifies the effect bigly. Simple explanation here: https://youtu.be/TVYRFHbCpqw?si=JMG4ureoP96Zqb0p
>-t. grew up barefoot a lot and known to a lot of my circle as "the barefoot guy"

Get some second hand, all the brands except Vivobarefoot are cheap second hand and frequently sold because normies like you get on the fad, get injured and give up regularly, and they're not as stylish as normal shoes, so they sell them off cheap and barely worn.
Merrel is good, look almost like normal shoes. There's a bunch of smaller brands now that do look really good, but I don't know about them. Merrel have vibram soles and are an old brand, so I trust em, and mine have held up.

Literally about to go walk 16 miles on variable terrain in barefoot shoes. Get good OP.
I got new barefoot boots (leather) and broke them in with a 16 miler, fresh out of the box, not even so much as a blister. If I'd have tried to do that with even very expensive, rigid hiking boots, I'd have had blisters for fucking days.
Barefoot is the best way. Most people who try it almost immediately understand the physical and mental benefits.
I have a suspicion that a lot of men especially are militantly anti-barefoot because the shoes make them a defacto 1-2 inches shorter in public. No thick soles or heel to boost you up in the street.

try buying a hard spiky massage ball and massaging your feet with it, and stretching them well
what kinda foot pain do you even mean, what youd described is very general, was it muscle pain, bones, just random foot on fire sensations or what?
