Pendlay or Yates? Pendlay work fine imo, even as a taller guy I alternate between Pendlay and Dumbbell rows, alongside weighted pullups as an accessory.

It doesn't do nothing it's just so poor at targeting the muscles it might as well be nothing. No reason at all to do it when chin ups/pull ups can be done just about anywhere, and if you're at a gym you can just use various machines.
