Mostly as a calculator with Python, though sometimes I use it to write simple programs/scripts for testing purposes when I'm stuck on the toilet.

Why when there are native android front ends?
>>
>>108602508
1. easier formatting like export mp3 only.
2. can easily feed into ffmpeg if needed
>>
>>108602467
Anything. I have Claude in it and I vibe code small apps of whatever shit I need, include servery and databasey stuff that I then ran on my phone, small Web apps turned pseudo-apps

That makes sense

yt-dlp for the ffmpeg reasons already mentioned by another anon and like literally any other cli i want to use at any given moment

main gain is some infrared control scripts with shortcuts so i don't have to deal with my collection of remotes that are only used for 1 button each.
httpd and fossil sometimes for local file slinging and backup copying

The fact it runs GUI GNU/Linux applications flawlessly makes it much more useful than termux. It does have issues when used together with a VPN in lockdown mode though, so hopefully that will get fixed.
>>
>>108604388
Can't Termux do the same if on a rooted phone? Which is really the issue: Terminal(s) on Linux are gimped due to the root prevention/protection at userspace?
>>
>>108602467
i don't have a usecase for a terminal multiplexer, i just open multiple windows of my terminal. presumably it's a good way to add scrolling to st though.
or are you just using it as a shell interface for your phone? never got that shit to work properly, it always did weird shit with keyboard input.

i think you're confusing tmux with termux. if not then idk wtf your post means
>>
>>108604557
Huh. Neat. I haven't bothered with termux much since it seemed pretty gimped with all the restrictions Google puts on it (at least from what Termux said). Guess I should play around with it a bit more.

all that on a tiny little phone screen?
I get the feeling you are using a phone as a home server...

I used nmap on various wifi networks. One time in a restaurant the AP they used had telnet enabled with a default password. I was able to get in and get the passwords for the non-public ssids and test them all until I found one with no speed restrictions. Same passwords used at other locations of the same chain too so when I'm in different malls I can access their private wifi.

Unironically, file management. It's crazy how there's no good file manager for android that can handle (de-)compression and magic wormhole makes transferring files easy, plus I don't need to learn where each function is on some shitty GUI, I already know all the commands I need from using them on the 'puter.

with Termux-API and using the different termux scripts you can script phone calls, messages, list them etc. so basically everything.
i interact much less with the android ui now
