Lukas I'm going to contact polymarket and tell them you're stealing their advertisement revenue on this board by taking viewers away from their own advertisement threads here. They will desponsor you.

true I regret doing CS because I liked video games and wanted a purely science edge without having to do gay college art but I found out CS is actually a dead field that the final fruit had been already solved in the 90s. most of the field was already dead by 65. you can study the entire field through literally any other field without being gatekept by the losers protecting fagman from white men.

It literally always comes down to;
>people with money and influence, insulated from the real world by the money and influence, use their money and influence to shape the world based on magical thinking
you just swap out what kind of magical thinking and where it came from (usually a jew).

I would point to the over exposure to a certain schizophrenic group who control all manner of media and news channels. Also your video suggest that these people as well are in some way or another connected to said group given their obsession with sex.

No idea about the long term consequences of it but it can work if you have a singular life focus. For techies who have nothing going on in their life other than work, it can be fine. The main problem is that the more sleep/awake cycles you have in the day, the less flexible you can be with the sleep periods. If you miss one of them while doing three hours of sleep split into six half hour blocks, you're going to be essentially jet lagged for the next couple of days. This is fine if your employer doesn't have a bunch of "can't miss" meetings and other kumbaya shit. They have to let your sleep periods take priority over everything else. Most managers lose their shit if an employee doesn't show up for the morning "listen to me babble on about my golf game" meeting. Be sure your company and manager aren't like that.
If you have a family or other social obligations, just forget about it.

The more we get glimpses into the lives of these major/top end AI researches, the more cringe it is.
This whole arms race to achieve AGI is just fucking painful.
They are ignoring biological reality, and think that by dumping enough math and data into an LLM its going to suddenly develop something akin to human consciousness. All the while the entire field of neuroscientists around the world are just sitting there laughing, because they know these people have convinced themselves this is possible, yet human or human-like consciousness gets more vague and impossible to define the more we learn, especially with the observer effect and enactivism gaining huge amounts of traction. (which if true, AGI is actually, literally impossible) But what is really cringe about it is that they genuinely think that they are somehow leapfrogging humanity ahead, and only they are capable of it.
I know someone who was working at Google adjacent to the original gemini team, and he said the messiah complexes are truly out of control and I fully believe him. This shit at the top level really is a cult. The supposed AGI is a deity they are trying to give birth to, and execs are afraid to name these freaks for what they are.
If enactivism is accurate, AI is going to hit an iron wall at 1,000 mph and get turned into a fine mist and its going to be the most expensive reality check in human history. We're currently in a god of the gaps phase, but not for much longer.

They're personally annoying, but based overall. Sure they're kind of loony and retarded, but have dreams and visions. They will probably fail, but AI doomers will definitely do nothing of value. The superintelligence people are basically a cult but cults are pretty based.
As for AGI, the real answer is we have practically no understanding on what intelligence even is or how it emerges. Everyone has this little reasoning by analogies.

Probably depends on the person. I struggle sleeping so it wouldn't work for me. Even as a child I was hard to put down. It doesnt make sense either why not just have a good sleep routine and be dedicated? The research shows that normal sleep is best, no reason to mess with this unless one had some crazy work commitments requiring weird hours.

How the fuck would this even be related to government remotely like saying the nuclear family is government. It could be a societal base. But not surprised its probably bunch of loser tech nerds all shacking up with one fat whale.

Within a sleep session, at the end of each 90m cycle you get exponentially more of the REM phase, so sleeping for 8 separate 90m blocks (a total of 12 hours) will give you a fraction of the REM that you get from sleeping for 8 contiguous hours.
That's why you must minimize disturbances of any kind, but most importantly those that have you fully wake up and go to bed again (like going to the bathroom or something).

15 years ago or so i had a year where i had in effect 8 days per week because i broke the week into 8 21 hour days and slept for 6 hours a 'day'. so i got an extra day out of havign one less woke hour and 2 less sleep hours per day.
this isn't polyphasic sleep, but it was equally retarded. a person need sunshine and to be on the sunshine schedule.
you can do (almost) anything for a while without it harming you but it doesn't mean somethings aren't stupid.

after hours in a restaurant kitchen it definitely is happening. in the walk-in fridges, in the dry store, in the cellar in bars, in the disabled toilets.
the last mcdonalds you visited has a huge walk in freezer at minus 18C and there were people fucking in that the week you visitied.

The idea is that you can shorten the non-REM portion of sleep so you still get your REM time in and don't "waste" time sleeping when not in REM. That all presumes that non-REM sleep doesn't have a function, which probably isn't the case. Back when I was on a low carb diet, I only needed 5-5.5 hours of sleep per night. I'd wake up naturally without an alarm. But often I'd need a fifteen minute nap in the afternoon where once I laid down, I'd fall asleep and have an intense dream. So it seemed that my body wanted a bit more REM and that was how it got it. I wasn't using stimulants or sleep aids, this was all my body doing whatever it wanted. I got wary of the whole thing since I have no idea if there could be long term consequences of that sleep pattern or not. In general, I didn't feel sleepy during the day.

>The idea is that you can shorten the non-REM portion of sleep so you still get your REM time in and don't "waste" time sleeping when not in REM
And how would you do that?
Certainly not with polyphasic sleep, since every small block of sleep is the first one (the one that only contains a little bit of REM) over and over again.
The only block of sleep that contains a large proportion of REM is the last, which you can only get to after going through a number of cycles before it in the same session.
Polyphasic sleep may make you feel rested like a series of periodic naps (because that's what it literally is), but you're still very likely to experience signs of REM sleep deprivation.
