Once again dropping the obligatory inquiry on how the fuck do people keep buying iPhones? Do you really enjoy using a restrictive babby phone that offers you no real control? Shit is made for toddlers.

Hi mods and jannys please take care of this immature troll ruining the technology board. This anon uses a vpn and has been spam trolling for too long. All they do is spend HOURS posting fake misleading information on a technology board where everyone knows it's not even real news. This is literally spam. Thank you.

Personally I enjoy seeing someone losing their mind over a product that some corporation makes that has nothing to do with them financially like who cares what product and what tech gadget from whatever company someone is posting about here....this is a smartphone general there's so many brands and this person is fixated on hating iPhones it's such a weird thing to do

I just switched from dumbphone to my first smartphone (Nothing 4a). Android. This is probably a dumb question but: Is there a way to make the phone give a warning sound when it switches from wifi to data? I have unlimited Wifi, but pretty limited data, and I would hate to lose a month of data to something dumb like losing wifi or not re-connecting properly when coming home.

what phone to try android as an iFag 14 user?
I've been thinking about the pixel 9a or 9 to also try graphene and vanilla android. But maybe I could go cheaper, or with better battery. Last android i had was Samsung s7 edge and it was pretty garbage honestly, but so is the iphone

Anyone still recommending any smartphone with sic batteries for sure doesn't own them like me. The batteries degrade way too fast. My Red Magic 11 Pro and OnePlus 15 are hardly ever even used and are degrading way too rapidly.

Is Si/C a meme or is OnePlus' software just shit? I used to get 9, sometimes 10 hours SOT out of my OnePlus 13 when I first got it but at this point it can barely break 8 hours just doing relatively light shit. Battery health is at 99% but it performs more like a 5000mAh battery and not a 6000mAh battery.

Chink software is hit or miss so some Si/C phones will barely outpace Galaxy Ultra/iPhone battery life despite having at least a 20% larger battery, then some will outpace Galaxy Ultra/iPhone battery life enough for it to be a noticeable improvement but it takes a 40%-50% larger battery to do it.

As an avid moto supporter, I can assure you, you won't be happy with any razor phone. Folding is a gimmick, but clam folds are just shit. Terrible form factor, diceroll longevity etc. If you want nice gimmick shit from moto, try moto g stylus. The stylus is useless, but at least it's fun and the phone won't give you any troubles.

I always buy the cheapest phone possible. I only use it for basic stuff. It's insane people paying $1000 for something that spies you all the time, even if you turn it off. This is a tech enthusiast board and it always makes me confused when someone complains that people here are spending more money than they would for better tech. Any thoughts about Samsung flagships? I've had an s22 ultra for a few years. Recently, it's decided to start dropping cell service randomly. It appears to be a known issue with this model and related to hardware. Annoying, but what can you do. I've had a stylus phone for like 15 years now and don't want to give it up. As such, I was looking at new galaxy s ultra phones. The loss of Bluetooth in the stylus in the s26 bothers me, as does all the ai bullshit. Considering an s24 ultra. Any thoughts?
>>

S24 ultra still has the best ultra design thus far IMO
It's just a huge shame that it's one model off from the 3nm chipsets used in the s25/s26 that's just one step more efficient than the 4nm 8gen3 its equipped with
>>
>>108623214
Good choice. I've had mine for about 4 months. It's not a perfect phone but it's good enough when compared to the alternatives. It still feels like phones are only made to spy on you 24/7. Every feature that could give you some privacy or autonomy has been cast aside.
>>
>>
>>108623228
They also seem to degrade much faster, with some users reporting their OP13 after a year performing MUCH worse than when they got it. >>108626945
Why don't you have a job? Or is your job to shill here? You can't be getting much done posting here all your waking hours. Did you buy your alleged $5000 worth of phones with daddy's money? Is that why you don't know the value of a dollar?

Hello anons, if given the option would you guys rather go oneplus nord 5 or motorola edge 60 pro? The motorola is a bit cheaper. (510$ vs 460$)
Between those two phones, which one has a better network/call stability when it comes to crowded areas and low signal areas?
>>
>>
>>
>>108618487
guys, I need a new cell phone.
I have been looking at the Pixel 8pro vs Pixel 9a.
My only beef with the 9a is that is has no zoom lens which I regularly use. but the 9a in a NIB is nearly 30% cheaper than an 8pro in "excellent condition" on ebay
whats better? pay $280 for 9a or $400 for 8pro?
yes there are cheaper 8pro but I dont trust the generic descriptions of "items shows moderate wear" aka it has a bunch of scratches on the screen.

dude that phone is like a year and a half old. If you want to make fun of someone say something like "you've got a shitty XR"
I don't have an iPhone, although I have had several in the past (6, X, SE 2020, 13 Mini, 16 Pro) because I'm not a fanboy. I know what "Ceramic Shield" (that's how you spell shield in English, saar) is, it's basically just rebranded Gorilla Glass with similar feel and properties.
I honestly don't care, post about how you love iPhones all you want, how the walled garden makes you feel comfortable, how the A19 Pro helped you export a 4K video in record time. This isn't a Brand X vs Brand Y thing. However, this spam of posting the SAME EXACT TEXT with the SAME YOUTUBE LINK with the SAME EXACT IMAGE/VIDEO attached every single thread contributes nothing. We've already seen it before, learn how generals work on 4chan before posting. Lurk moar.

>with some users reporting their OP13 after a year performing MUCH worse than when they got it
That's the puzzling part. It's obviously degrading in terms of SOT from when I first got it, but battery health seems perfectly fine. Then again that number might just be a total lie and it could be lower than it actually is.
>>
>>108628442
My first Samsung flagship was an S23U and it was alright but I ultimately switched to something else. I personally never gave half a shit about the stylus but S24U is your best bet if you don't want the newer, gimped stylus. I wouldn't worry about the lack of Si/C either, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Chink phones need 7000mAh+ batteries to outpace Galaxy Ultra battery life because their software is always doing way more shit in the background. SOT on my OnePlus 13 is more or less in line with what I was getting on my S23U despite having a 20% larger battery.

Probably just one Indian being paid by someone to keep the conversation about Apple or to get YT clicks without buying an ad, and hey it's working!

My S24 Ultra is sperging out because I changed the CSC from ATT to XAA to get on the unlocked update cycle (AT&T held up the OneUI 7 update for almost a month). I think AT&T is forcibly dropping me from connecting to 5G because it 'thinks' my phone doesn't support their bands despite me buying it from them. I'm considering taking this as an excuse to upgrade my phone rather than mess around with sketchy HOME_CSC flashes again.
Of the flagships that are on the market right now, what seems to be the go-to that will work on US carriers? It sounds like the S26 Ultra is bad and the Pixel 10 lineup still has Pixel problems, so what are people actually using?
>>

1. This is BS since it does have a crease too.
2. The crease is not a big deal anyways as you don't notice when using it mostly.
3. The issue with foldables isn't the crease, it's the price and reliability for long term ownership and use of it.

And chinkphones can't hold a handle to iPhone given their limited battery size. Apple's nickle and dime-ing repulses me and is why I don't buy their phone but if it weren't for that and locking down the phone in gay ways like being able to just drop music files and other things to my phone from my Windows PC I'd buy one in a heart beat. I dare every single one of you to pick up a phone from 2 years ago or more that has a curvy design and tell me you hate it and love the flat crappy square design of your current phone. Post from another thread:
Looking to upgrade to either a Sony Xperia 1 VI or VII from Hong Kong. Reside in the USA and said model is missing a few bands but the connection can't be that much worst than my 4g phone can it (currently using s10+)? Also is the VI the better choice of the 2 since it has less of a risk of defects that the VII potentially can have, right?
Also I've read that Wifi calling doesn't work out the box in the US and you have to jump through some hoops to enable it along with 5G(no root required). Will the phone be more trouble than it's worth to make functional in the US? Or am I just overthinking things, as the guide seems pretty dummy proof.

I really just want a quality phone with minimal to no bloatware and AI features. i don't care much for samsung's services and apps. I was contemplating importing an iphone 17(simcard model) because I've read the CH/HK have a lot of ai features disabled, but I'm not too keen on having to sign up with apple or losing access to a browser with adblock
What would you suggest I go with? Any better recommendations for what I'm looking for?

If you want FOSS apps, it's not too late to go back to android while the 17 is still the latest one available and fetches the highest value it will in its lifetime

The note 5 had the perfect shape desu
Curved back to improve grippiness plus a flat front screen to maximize the usable screen space. I have no idea why apple, samsung and google insist on curved screen or flat backs which doesn't make sense ergonomically or from a practicality standpoint.

I'm very wary of Chinese phones, despite having one good successful run with them, but I think you should just manage your phone better. I doubt it is normally that bad. Bluetooth, 5G, background services, faulty apps, etc etc. There could be a number of reasons for that.

taking the redmagic 11 pro as an example, its OS is hardcoded to run at a hidden 110% performance setting if it detects a benchmark app like 3dmark running. this hidden performance mode greatly increases the thermal throttling temp from 50-60C to 100C and lets the SoC go full bore on power from the usual ~5W on phones to 10-15W power sustained.

SoC is most important, then RAM and storage type. Samsung flagships have good hardware but OneUI is still packed with bloat (although it is better than TouchWiz days).
>>
>>
>>
>>108645400
I will NEVER understand why Samsung dumped their UI for One, their UI was fine, it was sleek enough, and the bloat was relatively easy to put up with.
Now with One I'm spending every other day looking into another UI I could install.

Received a free iphone from my sister because my previous iphone was old as shit.
The problem is that the new iphone doesn't have 3.5mm jack support..
I just need them to listen to a podcast when i tan my body in summer, no music so the quality just needs to be functional and i dont want to spend more than 15-20 euros on it.
So which wireless homotooth earbuds should i get?

I have a Pixel 10 Pro (non-XL) coming from a lifetime of iphone usage and its the best phone I've ever owned. Its scam call screening, AI voice translating, and software features are just too good. I am willing to agree its camera is not as good as a iphone pro, but its marginal difference at best. YMMV.

the recent snapdragon chips have been pretty hot and underwhelming. probably best to stick to an older s25 ultra for cheap or going with a chinkphone that has the right cooling hardware and huge batteries to tame the powerhungry 8 elite gen 5

>>
>>
>>108645729
well its not a big issue if you have that type of cooling then. but the other huge problem with the s26u is that its screen is pretty harsh and causes bad migraines for some people. if you're even slightly sensitive to oled flicker, you'd probably want to avoid that model and opt for a s26+ or s26

I finally bought a new phone after 9 years, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 512 GB model. My previous phone was a Galaxy Note 8. The UI is really snappy and responsive, the screen looks great and smooth, and it actually has an SD card slot unlike modern phones for some reason. That's literally all that I need, I don't care if it isn't officially supported anymore, I can watch vids, browse the internet, and make calls on a phone that feels good to use. Anyways, I'm gonna place a 1TB microSD in this baby and start a new, more curated porn collection composed of my absolute favs. I look forward to not having to buy another phone for 9 more years.

Wrong, sic batteries degrade faster than the ones in a iPhone. I actually own multiple new smartphones unlike the many that just post stuff they read somewhere. Your silly opinions won't change the scientific truths little kid. My Red Magic 11 Pro and OnePlus 15 are barely used, never wirelessly charged and never charged over 80% and have degraded worse than my little brothers iPhone 14 Pro Max. >>108619425

I finally upgraded to the Poco F8 Pro from my old V60. Gotta say, HyperOS is fucking weird. It's actually pretty damn comfy once you get everything set up, but, out of the box, it's eerily reminiscent of Touchwiz in the sense that there's a bunch of bloat that has to be removed in order to get a remotely decent experience. Still like my new phone at the end of the day though, hope it lasts as long as my old one.
>>
>>
>>108647736
The strange thing about that phone is that it feels a lot like the newer s23/s24 ultras despite being older than 5 years old
Also it's display tech was the first to have 120hz in Samsung's note lineup and was 1 gen off from having LTPO or VRR to save battery so it's a huge battery drain on the phone

>>
>>108653474
lmao every phone manufacturer in existence has had bad batteries occasionally.
You're in no way any "safer" by moving to another brand, shit happens.
I've got a Note20 Ultra and a Galaxy Note8 that both still have their original batteries and both still are doing better than your 7 hour claim.
Does that mean samsung is AMAZING and has the best batteries ever? No of course not. But your singular bad experience means literally nothing.
Also if you spent $1000 on the S23U 2 years ago you got ripped off.
The S23U is over 3 years old, so you bought it when it was already 1 year old, if you still paid $1k you were just dumb.
>>
>>108653416
>i dont really do much on a phone other than anki, music, audiobooks, blue archive (jp)
Pixel 7 is more than enough for that
>i can probably switch out the launcher and put anime girls everywhere right
Pretty much, although Poogle is working hard to lock android down as much as possible.
>>
>>108652451
It makes total sense when you understand that for normal people, which isn't you, their phone is the only camera they have on them. Normal people want the "look" of photos taken on an actual camera with little to no effort, and modern smartphones excel at that.

Poco and Redmi in general is the clever man's choice who doesn't wanna waste he's money. I've had everything from Fold7 to iPhone 16 Pro max and here I am with my good old trusty Redmi note. Why? Because it does literally everything I need and I don't wanna look like an idiot in the eyes of smart people. Smart people buy what they need. Not what they wanna show off. Refurbished usually just means used with a markup.
Just buy from your local classified ads service if you're looking for a used phone, you can get great deals or you can get burned, or you can get an ok deal. Something like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist or Kijiji or what have you, whatever they use in your country to sell items.
