this, I tried Artix but half the shit I wanted to do required a hlaf dozen different commands for alternative init systems that I had to remember, fuck that. The core functionality was the same but it was a little harder to use.
>>
>>
>>108646700
Meanwhile, the general population wants one simple thing that people keep trying to reinvent;
>Turn it on
>It boots up
>It just works
>Does not require a thousand commands to setup
>It just works.
It just works.

currently trying this piece of garbage in qemu just to look around for alternatives (i'm a devuan main but with the recent elected pajeeta at debian looking up to incorporate debian in 'murica things may potentially get grim for my favorite distro) and i have to say one must be a special kind of masochist to enjoy it:
>the calamares tard-proof installer shits itself if you dare to slighty personalize the configuration, the artixinstall python script is an equal piece of non-funtioning shit, so you're forced install the system by hand
i find this particularly demential not because it's complicated (it's just about partitioning, bootstrapping shit and chroot in it) but because even fucking paleolithic distros like Slackware have fully functioning installers, jhc!
>some packages straightup don't work, i had to literally look up a init script dependencies (because the piece of shit stopped itself at boot) and see for myself that the retard packager didn't even bother to edit "logind" with "elogind"
i can't fucking wait to experience the joy of figuring out what the fuck will happen with a major update. The arch memes are real.

No. Not one normie is going to care, the minute they run into a limitation with musl, what the problem is and how to solve it. They will blame the installed software and not understand why musl is causing the problem.

Never thought Linux devs could be this based LMAO
If I'm ever switching to Linux as my main OS, I'm defined gonna go with Artix.
Heard the (main?) dev from Linux Mint is also anti semitic, don't know if that's true doe

This is just Mint. Even if you're installing arch: You are not a 'normalfag' or a 'general population' computer user. Arch's entire thing is that it has a stiff barrier to entry and tons of customization to go along with it
>J-JUST USE ARCHIN-
Even using archinstall is a herculean task for the "general population" of linux users you keep harping on about. Most of the general population is still on windows.

Basically shut the fuck up if you keep trying to tell us what the "normies" want when we're talking about using fucking arch which most normalniggers think is fucking magic. They want Mint or Windows. You're the only one making the "What if an idiot in a hurry tries to install arch linux?!"

CachyOS is barebones when you install it. It's just arch with a bunch of terminal scripts premade. Most normies will still be better to go for Mint first if they are in a hurry. It at least has pre installed programs for them and things won't break often because that's the nature of installing bleeding edge packages. Nothing wrong with cachyos though, I have it on my desktop but it still is gaymer arch.

>dbus
>xdg-desktop-portal
Those are very worrisome, and way too bloated for the devs to fork it and maintain.

you dumb faggot. in a few years it won't matter. you see, the issue isn't distros all going to and mandating systemd.... no.... the issue the packages, apps, and programs you use are going to all go to systemd only.
at that point it won't matter if you YourMomTheWhore distro, if it doesn't systemd, you won't be able to do shit.
You can thank linux going corporate (red hat) and the fact the average person is a fucking moron too stupid to use anything other than iPhone for this quagmire Linux is now in.

Whatever. I tried both recently and they sucked. Devuan wouldn't even boot (Debian 13 boots fine). Can't remember the Artix bugs but I assure you they existed.
>>
>>108659693
Ok, you seem honest and talkable. I see that Artix devs respond very quickly to bug reports and fix them, just ping them on the forum, the IRC or Telegram. My opinion is they should limit the amount of installation ISO images (far too many desktop/init combinations) and focus on more extensive testing.
>>
>>108659783
>just ping them
Will do.
>far too many desktop/init combinations
Also they should IMO just completely drop community which was IME more buggy than the official DE/init variant. Different desktop combinations are good if they are simply a different set of default packages. You might have a point about the init systems, but I'm guessing they all exist because key contributors want them, and the distro is basically a reaction to systemd so it would be political/project suicide for them to pick a single init lol.
