I'm agnostic, but I enjoy reading the primary sources of different esoteric religions. Corpus Hermeticum, Gnostic Gospels, The Zohar, etc. Funnily enough, Evangelion was what first made me interested since the entire symbolism and plot behind the show is literally just Jewish Mysticism.

I put the Edge Panel (A.K.A. Taskbar/Dock) on the left and it sort of reminds me of Ubuntu with Android/One UI having both it on the left, and a top panel, even if said panel is transparent here. I don't know, I just like how it reminds me of my favorite Linux distro, and the iconic Unity DE, though even nowadays with GNOME they still go for this look somewhat, i find it neat.

>Omarchy users can't fix or setup anything and this distro will break everytime Arch or Hyprland change something that breaks the configs
What is point of this Garuda tier Indian distro? I heard some jew said it is the best but other than that what is the point? Either use Ubuntu LTS or just install Arch/Artix with Hyprland, dwm/dwl or something. Even showing screenshots is just humiliating when people can see that you are using "Omarchy".

Haven't been this early in awhile.
>>108650975
You're exactly correct. I'm pretty sure 90% of Arch/Hyprland users do so out of self-consciousness or misplaced elitism, and Omarchy helps them get that combo out of the box.
There's nothing wrong with using what works for you or aligns with the software philosophies you develop while exploring freedom. Like for me, after distro-hopping several times, my favorite disto OAT is Slackware on a minimal install, but I use Mint because it saves me time. I also use DE's because I prefer using my mouse. I'm genuinely convinced over half of all Hyprland users prefer mouse as well, but are intentionally making things harder on themselves to stroke their ego.
>>108648964
Now that's a clean and proper suckless WM. Ran DWM behind XFCE for awhile before switching back to Mint from Debian SID. It was nice, but I found IceWM provides a similar enough experience just ootb. I have IceWM installed on this machine, I just haven't bothered to set it up.

DHH is whiter than you are bro (pictel). And since I've been using Linux exclusively since 1994, setting up arch is trivial to me. I happen to enjoy using it because it comes with a lot of software that I would be installing at first boot anyway, and it's been perfectly stable on all 6 of the machines it's running on in my home network. I'm also a theme designer for Omarchy.
>>
>>108651110
>Hyprland
>Hard
Pick exactly one. It's incredibly easy. Super+number, mouse scroll or 3 finger swipe to change workspaces, and it functions literally the same as any other WM. And if you run Omarchy everything is tied to theme hooks so you can make everything look uniform and consistent, something most DEs haven't managed to do (and something Windows and macOS fail at spectacularly.)... It really seems like a lot of seething coming from this board over people using what they like. I used i3 for years, and now that I've switched to Wayland, Hyprland is the best option for having a WM that behaves the way I'm used to, and no other distro implements Hyprland better than Omarchy.

With manufacturing becoming cheaper coupled with overstock due to the skyrocking cost of PCs and parts, all displays have completely tanked in price. You can get a quality 1440p monitor for under $100. At the store the other day I was equally shocked to find 55" 4K QLED HDR TVs for under $150.

Neither am I, but I'm running into a problem where if I don't specify my own in a format line, it doesn't display them at all but when I do specify my own, it will display a built-in for *some* of lines but not all of them so I decided I'd rather have double icons than a brunch of lines with none, and a few lines with them. I'm still learning fastfetch's config file format since neofetch is discontinued.
>>108658551
I've had nothing but trouble with sway. It's a bit shit. Pango injection errors, glitchy flickering when putting anything in full screen, etc. In practice it's i3 for Wayland, in execution it's nowhere near as stable as i3. I was running CachyOS with sway for a bit before I found Omarchy and tried it out, Hyprland just werked ootb, and Omarchy's theme hooks make everything far more consistent; everything is themed by the colors.toml definitions and if you're using a program without a theme hook you can request it be added in the next release in 13 or less days (and easily add your own in the meantime)

Are you retarded? Why would you tell someone who can't use Arch and Hyprland to "just use Arch and Hyprland".
D-Doublejew-M would be horrible for this person, if they're using Omarchy they probably wanna USE their computer instead of recompiling their config.h for the 50th time today. Not everyone wants to be micro and elitist as per the suckless philosophy.

Glad I'm not the only one who saw the flaw in that logic. And you nailed it right on the head: one of the things I love most about Omarchy is that I can grab any one of my machines and get right to work. I don't have to fuck around with anything. It just werks.

I always think what these "good looking retro themes" look like with high resolution. Well I used GIMP to make this fake high resolution version and it was exactly as I though; extremely ugly and boring. So apparently the "good theme" is actually just low resolution. Maybe also bitmap font only if you already use low resolution.
Original: https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/108576151/#108646540
>>
>>
>>108667712
Yeah that's the biggest issue with the nostalgia goggles. Those old themes from the Win9x-XP era only looked good because we had screens with low PPI ratios. It's probably why everyone went away from skeumorphism that relied on bitmaps and move to flat design, including Microsoft ditching Aero (which depended on bitmaps) to Metro.
To see what I mean, fire up WebAmp to see just how tiny the classic Winamp skins look on a modern high PPI ratio screen, and how bad it'll look like if you enable it's double size mode.

I assume you have xfce now, I'm starting out so idk...I was thinking of starting with Kubuntu cause of KDE's easy ricing potential. I want to make my own custom windows and icon but don't wanna touch code. FVWM looks look's good but idk if I can have it on kde. Also will having kde prevent me for having a full retro feel, cause it seems most retro builds run xfce (maybe cause it's lightweight)?

desu completly agree, basic conf is really good and easy to modify, setted up so you can overwrite defaults in your own .config. also agree on the bloatware, base distro is huge, more like was, since it was originally dhh own setup, now there is a handy debloat script, wish he implemented it before i choose to clean it all by myself.

Very nice card. I lucked out on the silicon lottery and can undervolt by -100mV. At the stock power limit of 304W, I'm hitting 3.4GHz. Looking at oher tests, 3.2 is what you need to match a stock 5080. It seems to do so, and even in AI workloads using ROCm with the MESA driver, I'm hitting 1.4MPS/s in image generation, while 5080s on the network are pumping out 1.1MPS/s, so it's in-line.
Really impressive card considering it can match the stock 5080 at 304W, while the 5080's stock TDP is 360W.

Tumbleweed rulez.
Few weeks ago the RawTherapee was segfaulting on start. Maintainers fixed it quickly, but sometimes I miss the Debian's rock solid stability.

1 of 3 on my 2002 quicksilver. The gentoo screenshot shows 3 OS drives. I was surprised to see people talking about it like a week later.
The OSX one isn't really worth posting and I mainly use it as an intermediary for gentoo's boot drive that needs to be HFS+ unmolested by linux. It's the only way I could get my triple boot to play nicely.

Minecraft screenshots i retouch myselft mostly. I also keep the originals, just in case i regret how they look and wanna redo them again (cause why not? nearly 2 thousands of them and barely break the 1.6Gbs. Only a fraction of them end making the cut anyways).

do you mean discord/slack/spotify? both have native clients which work fine (although arch isnt the right distro for these things, debian/mint have the best software support)

Hi, i'm working on uploading them somewhere, i'll probably have them sorted out by the end of the next week, I have been holding back that chore since I got my old Mega account banned for some retarded reason (I think it was for holding some 3DS Roms without encrypting them, plain lazyness. I was lucky I didn't upload anything of interest there). I think I'll upload both the upscales and as many of the originals as I can find (because many of them don't fully convince me so having those around allow me to remake them again in the future, when upscale models or my knowledge improves).

I've never once thought about making the background DWM blue. It feels wrong, but it also makes a lot of sense since it makes it look like a file cabinet and makes the open window look more like the window decoration.

FSR4 upgradability is built into Proton GE and EM. Add
`PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %COMMAND%`
to launch options. It also works on any FSR3.1 game, not just what AMD approves thanks to the Mesa drivers.
Optiscaler also expands this to any game with upscaling, and the mod is even easier to install under Linux, it's just a drag and drop next to the executable.
In my experience FSR4 upscaling + LSFG-VK framegen + XeLL latency reduction provides the best image quality and lowest input latency.

yes, and if you have a text editor thats comfortable enough it's even easier to configure things through text. unironically, going to line 170 and changing colorscheme = 7 to another number is far easier than messing with a gui
