Describe the Windows 10 IoT LTSC experience. Chatgpt told me that it wasn't a good idea for a gamer.

First off why are you asking autocorrect for tech advice? Second off, LTSC is the best way to use windows, but that’s like saying the shit I took yesterday is better than the shit I took today. If you want to play video games and you don’t play slop shooters just use cachyos, it will work a lot better than any stripped down windows.

If all you ever do is watch cherrypicked benchmarks that don't show cases where Proton completely shits the bed and you don't actually game yourself to have a genuine point of reference.

Instead of dealing with the never ending chase of trying to gut every telemetry component (you won't and you can't), it's easier and better to just use a firewall to block literally everything by default, then individually whitelist every connection you recognize.

I use cachyos as a daily driver and I have absolutely zero issue running games. I just played through crimson desert, all settings on ultra with RT on and my fps never dipped below 100. Doesn’t matter if it’s an old release or a new one, everything works.

LTSC is perfectly good for gaming, you can just install all the dependencies yourself.
most of the time you don't even have to look for em either, which most of the time is just some version of framework, either Steam will install it with the game or Windows will go look for it after you start an installer which depends on it.
>>
its literally just normal windows without the bullshit
Games worked out of the box for me, outside of the usual shit like installing C++ runtime, literally no dependencies. I only ran into some issues with winget but I was doing programming specific bullshit in the terminal

the only issue i had was i couldn't install official minecraft without also manually installing some dependency that the microsoft store needed(but is absent)
i didn't do it because bloat, third party launchers work fine

Never going back.
Switched to W10 IoT LTSC few months ago. All my Steam shit works. All my f95 shit + mods work. My gooner Skyrim modlists work. All of it runs better than on W11 Home.
I believe I had to regedit tweak a few minor things to disable the xbox overlay, which is not installed by default, resulting in a "open this app with what?" popup sometimes.
Just install 7zip and irfanview+addons since it opens images with paint, and doesnt know what to do with 7z or webp/avif files.

I am using it right now. Everything works mostly fine, but new games sometimes require adding a ra dom launch option. For example i had to disable vulkan to run slay the spire 2, and disable fullscreen optimizations to see anything in everspace 2(otherwise window fully transparent.
Another downside is no WSL, fortunately there are computers at my uni that are faster than mine anyway for the ai bs i have to do.

>what's the point of windows
>every digital device you interact with to buy groceries, access your atm, get checked in at a hotel or at an airport, order slop through a kiosk, refill your liquid flavored microplastic beverage runs on some version of windows
Yeah man what's the fuckin point of windows amirite? lmao

It's still fine if you play new games. You just have to install your drivers manually and some programs.
But 10 is going to lose driver support from nvidia/amd by the end of the year and you'll hit a point where new games will quit working.

All Windows is dogshit, because:
>closed source everything, meaning you can't uninstall core stuff like GUI or change kernel modules or optimise any components, forced to use their dogshit terribly designed software
>Have to rely on Microjeet to fix your pc or troubleshoot
>Still had spyware in DNS and optionals like bonzibuddy, it just wasn't as obvious as it is currently
>Their desktops lack a huge amount of features that Xorg and others have had for decades, such as alt-drag moving and resizing and customizable shortcuts
>No posix standard commands even though literally every other operating system has posix standard commands in CLI
>.NET retardation, Webview retardation, Copilot retardation, Recall retardation, Cortana retardation, React retardation, online-only account retardation

its great. id say go for win11 ltsc instead since some games are dropping support for win10 alr.
also, win11 has support for DirectStorage, FSR4 (afaik it doesnt work as well on win10) and also has windowed mode optimizations

LTSC and Server are the only Windows versions worth using.

But can you pirate games? Can you download an executable off cs.rin.ru and play a gane? A friend of mine can't do that with Mint.

Firefox always turns on some faggot AI shit or fucks my UI with every update. I now have a goddamn list for every annoyance I have to turn off in about:config for new installs. Not to mention they just fucked the UI on mobile so you have to reach across the entire fucking screen

This is the best answer here. As someone who has been using LTSC for years now I have never had an issue with steam or games on my PC because all the dependencies just get installed when you install the game. The only dependencies I have had to go out and get myself are small silly things like a media viewer to view jpegs and pngs that I use for 4chan. Its rare that you will ever come upon things like that but when you do its as simple as downloading a driver for whatever it is.
literally no point in using any other OS for you personal PC, especially windows OS's

My laptop is over ten years old. I installed W10 IoT LTSC on it and use Edge with ublock origin to watch youtube on my tv via an hdmi cable. I have had no issue in the three years I have been doing this. This is my only computer as I belong to a rare, non-gaymer breed of neet
