Thread #108650978
Is it just me, or have all major search engines over the last few months/a year lost a lot of accuracy?
I also noticed that you get the same results regardless on whether you search with google, duckduckgo, or whatever

people have been saying search engines have been regressing for years but i must admit i haven't noticed it. Google feels the same to me as it always did.
I once got into an argument with someone over it. He insisted modern search was absolute dog shit so i asked him to give me an example and he literally showed me this search
>"gl unwind"
and he was mad that opengl documentation weren't the first result on the page lmao

I hate that Google search is still the most competent one even though it's been enshittified by Sukdeeps for the last ten years+. I tried giving Brave search a try and it can't ever retrieve a first-party result for a topic that Google gets on the first try.

it's AI. if normal search works well you won't try the AI shit for searching. how else can the middle managers get their AI gainz for their bonuses.

It all went downhill ever since Google lobotomized reverse image search because it started getting good enough to find people on social media. I haven't used a search engine to find something I didn't already know exists for nearly a decade at this point, it just can't do what I want it to.

Can confirm. I use a lot of searching as part of my job and the implosion in quality is quite clear. Even search results on pages 2 and 3 are mostly drivel and I have to keep on searcing to find what I need.

I noticed that putting something in quotes or using a - to exclude something doesnt actually do anything now. I literally get the exact same results. I think they do it to push us to AI because that now gives better responses.

Search engines have been dogshit for at least six years now

This. SEO killed search engines.
