It's simple, if you don't like the distro you picked, just reinstall
>waaah wah I can't reinstall!
Reinstalling on Linux is easy because program installation is automated
>>108653819
And that's why you're being hacked

Currently because I use Affinity a lot and I need to know if Wine is stable enough for it.
https://affinity.studio/
I would use GIMP but it's got a long way to go before reaching Photoshop and Affinity's level.

Based. Also upgraded from Linux to Mac recently
>>108654126
I haven't upgraded my ram in ten years, and at least Apple has a DE, linux ones all suck. I still keep a linux computer around to ssh into and use it as a seedbox/jellyfin host tho

Every piece of software has zero days, every piece of software has active CVE's, your browser has multiple of them as you read this post.
And all of them do nothing unless the user is retarded, hope this helps! :3c

This might help.
https://github.com/seapear/AffinityOnLinux
Haven't checked issues, but that might be a good place to start.
You might also consider Krita over GIMP if you decide to go native. GIMP sucks, and Krita does enough for my uses. Depends what you need it for though, and I'm not familiar with Affinity.

>I prefer non-upgradable RAM
I have never upgraded the RAM in any computer I have ever owned. The only time I've swapped hardware has been to replace graphics cards (and that's still pretty rare), otherwise I just use my computer until I feel like it's time for a new one and then I build or buy a new one.
Why are you so hung up on soldered RAM?

Mint if you use some old laptop and want the system to just fucking work and not need some special driver. CachyOS if you are a gaymer with a desktop and want all the wine shit to just work with one script click.

The reason for the disagreement is that every distro you've heard of is fine and works well. Just pick the last one you heard of or the one that sounds the most like a default to you and go with that. It will be fine.

Mint is the most common answer outside of this retarded place because it is objectively the correct answer. Make sure to get the Cinnamon one not ugly shit Xfce or Mate.
Arch is cool and all but do not install it as your first distro. Get used to Linux with Mint (Cachy and Zorin are acceptable too or Ubuntu if you want to be a complete faggot but Mint is probably best) so after you get used to it you can start to learn what you like and how you might want things different, then you will do a custom build of Arch and soon realize it was a complete waste of time and go back to Mint.
I really gotta stress DO NOT take advice from people here. The people on this board are completely detached from reality, you should do the complete opposite of what they say more often than not.

It sucks and is worse than windows. Being forced to use it for some things further cements my stance on this.
Just a few things i noticed
The pc i have linux on is far faster than my laptop, BUT:
>alt tabbing has a 0.5 second delay
>clicking on any link doesnt open it but gives error and says ubuntu is ready
>camera has 2x lower framerate for the same code controlling it on linux and windows
>training of AI model is faster but not as much faster as it should be based on the difference in hardware
>no gui to set permissions or take ownership of a file so i can actually run it

You're very optimistic. Look what the brown virus did to MS and Goog with trillions of dollars of skin in the game. We're being street shit back to the Victorian era under the guise of saving money and being nice to brown people.

This. Troonix is literally like going back to the stoneage after using macOS. It's not even a contest. The only excuse for using troonix is being a thirdie and not being able to spend your entire year's $500 salary to buy a Mac.

Because I don't let sensational journalism influence my decision making.
If you've had an article like this made every time there was a CVE within the Linux ecosystem, you'd have one to post every day. But that wouldn't get the rage clicks, or screencap threads, so no one bothers to.
