reading through their xitter, it seems they're not getting enough money through donations to keep it going, but if it's a decentralized platform, do we really "need" the session team to host anything?

well we need them to update the app to fix vulnerabilities and stuff. Also voice call + video call uses their servers.
It's one of the best end to end encrypted apps in their technology and implementation, too bad normalfags are way too retarded to realize that, and instead use spyware like Whatsapp and imessage.
