and western models are distilling pirated copyrighted books and internet content from users who won't ever bring them to court, no one in AI is playing by the old rules at this point
which is good copyright is a spook anyway, LLMs have fundamentally changed the workflow of creatives, researchers and professionals alike and Chinese labs are doing the right thing in democratizing LLMs, agentic AI and other ML products in general
people can cry and bitch all they want about le ebil and immoral companies, le ebil capitalism and le ebil communism, but the reality is that AI, probably in the form of elaborate LLMs until we find something better, is here to stay and if you don't want a few corpos monopolizing its use then your stakes should be on using and improving open source, locally running (if not, through cheap API use) AI and agent workflows
