iOS is more secure than Android. No one ever came back with an iPhone having issues, but when I was working in the cellphone industry only Android phones were coming back, because people downloaded some fake software from Google's own PlayStore and now their phone is glitching and full of spyware and bugs. Cellphone stores are full of people who have to have their Androids factory reset because the operating system allows scammers to post apps on their ecosystem.

Well I can only hope that with the Neo their repairability trend will go up. Mainly because everyone blindly apes everything Apple does and it's about fucking time they do something right so that the rest of the market does things right as well. Not, remove the headphone jack to sell TWS buds, or glue the battery in, or have screen notches because more screen better and bezels icky.
>>
>>108661096
It's fake lol see: >>108659684
Apple has better repairability than Microsoft and Google.
>>
>>108661114
I've seen enough Louis Rossmann to know that Macbooks are engineered to be unrepairable, or how they've serialized the parts so that you couldn't transplant iPhone parts from two identical devices thanks to artificial DRM meant to force you to get fucked by Apple, and the Neo is the antithesis of Apple's design philosophy so far.
Again, I want Apple to do non-retarded things so that everyone does the same non-retarded things because so far it's been the opposite.

Maybe it makes more sense to look over the course of a year (pic related), because different companies release new phones at different times of the year, which means different companies will have spikes in usage at different times of the year.
Also your chart doesn't show "sales". It shows usage, as recorded by that particular company.

It's StatCounter. StatCounter works by injecting trackers into partner sites to gather data form user agents and other browsing data. If you use an ad blocker you're automatically excluded from StatCounter because of that.
It's like when Linuxfags worship the 5.44% from Steam Hardware Survey while having no understanding of what those numbers mean or how they're gathered. The reality that it's opt-in, constantly skewed by Chinese users, only representing Steam users and not putting that in the context of global computer use, there was a sudden decrease in Simplified Chinese users this month despite it surging up with Windows 10 users, which some retards reported as "people coming back to Win10". As long as the percentages show their team is winning, that's all they care about and won't shut up about it.
tl;dr: these statistics are insanely inaccurate, the percentages mean nothing without hard numbers to know the quantity of data samples collected each month, and the Internet has proven the vast majority of people are too retarded to even be given such stats with how much they don't understand them.

Do you also buy nothing but the most popular brands on the market in every other segment and convince yourself that you're superior to others for buying the exact same products the majority does?
Because that's all you're proving here. Most popular does not equal best, and there are a ton of people that prefer the Android ecosystem over the iOS one for their own practical reasons. Stop acting like a child.

Anyone here that has been using graphene for a long period of time?
I'm currently have an iPhone 13 Pro, and while I'm pretty happy with it I kinda miss some of the Android stuff (Niagara launcher, Firefox with extensions, easier sideloading). Also, I don't want to be stuck in the Apple ecosystem.
The Pixel 9a is cheap, the Pixel Fold could also be a great pick since it's not that expensive and I'd like to try a foldable phone.
I'm still a bit skeptical about switching mainly because GOS doesn't support tap to pay (could use something like Curve Pay but that kinda defeats the purpose) and maybe itll be too inconvenient.
The only Google services that I still use are YouTube (morphe mod) and Google Maps. Afaik both of these should work great on graphene, right?

It's not sales. I think this guy is pretty much right: >>108661336
It's tracking how many devices visit certain websites. That isn't a measure of sales. It's a measure of smartphone usage.
E.g. in the week after Nintendo released the Switch 2, let's imagine that Nintendo got 60% of all video game console sales in the US for that week, because that device was new and desirable. That doesn't mean that during that week Nintendo had 60% of video game console usage, because there are already tons of people who have PlayStations (and to a lesser extent Xboxes) who would be using those consoles. So perhaps only 30% or 40% of US console gamers used a Nintendo console in that week.
>>108661309
Yeah that looks like a measure of sales.

help me out guys. im buying a new phone and i cant chose between staying on android and going with OP15/s26U or moving to apple and getting ip17PM
i always go for the flagship and then use it for years. most important features to me are great display, camera and long battery life
op15 tempts me bc of best battery life and cheaper price. im a bit skeptical of its chink software, less than top tier cameras according to reviews, not that bright display (comparatively speaking) and new battery tech (battery is 2500mah bigger than s25u, but only beats it by 1 hour in tests?)
s26u is safe/boring option. had samsungs before so i know what im in for. at beginning batery and performance are great then couple of years later it barely lasts a day and i dont want to sound like conspiracy theorist but it's like they gimp it with updates, slows down a bit and starts stuttering every now and then to make you buy a new one. i dont know if this is still the case? also i look at its predecessors and battery hasnt gotten any bigger for years and it has aluminum body compared to s25s titanium... feels like sidegrade and it doesnt sit right with me
17pm is appealing to me because people tell me PM versions of iphones have really good battery life and devices hold up great over time. i also love how its cameras are user friendly and always give great looking photos with auto settings. last iphone i used was 5s and back then ios was really retarded. it lacked so many features, didnt even have t9 dialing etc, but i hear its gotten better now
feel like donkey stuck between 2 buckets of water. lead me spg

it's more repairable than a framework
>>
>>108667642
I wasn't talking about the Neo, this is the model I was talking about where Apple started to make shit more repairable to the point of giving Framework and Lenovo's ThinkPad department a run for it's money. Minus their ARM chip of course, where you'll lose all your data if the RAM or the CPU fails since it's all on the same chip, which isn't the case on x86 machines where they're still all separate, but everything else is very well designed in terms of user repairability indeed. The screw-in battery is especially interesting to see on an Apple product.
The Macbooks I was talking about were the ones engineered to fail. Like having a screen ribbon cable that's too short and constantly breaks during regular usage, or putting a high voltage rail pin right next to the CPU voltage pin in a place where a single drop of water or even moisture condensation would be enough to short them and fry the CPU. The types of design flaws that any regular company would quickly create a factory revision for to avoid further damages. But not Apple, because it wasn't a design flaw, it was a purposeful design feature to make these machines break so that they could keep making money, either on Genius Bar doing shoddy repair work or getting people to pay for a new one.

I can't tell if you are a room temp iq troll anon or you are being serious. Do you not understand any company that's Mass producing stuff like that works with spy agencies from the get-go, if you don't understand this you aren't smart enough to discuss this matter.

Let's be honest, Samsung is the best smartphone maker
>Capable phones for every budget (from small budgets, to medium budgets, to flagship budgets)
>Freedom of Android, instead of locked-down iOS
>Security updates for longer than competitors (mid-range phones get 6 years, flagships get 7 years)
>Not Chinese, so your data is much less likely to be acquired by the CCP

What >>108669297 said, Smasnug is one of the worst offenders when it comes to the ability to run your own software. On par with just about every chinkshit manufacturer. And I couldn't give less of a shit about the hardware if the software sucks ass. It's a basic rule of all technology, I either have a choice to use non-shit software of my choosing, or it's shit. It's also why iPads are dogshit because they have dogshit software despite their hardware being on par with Macbooks.
The only Android phones worth a shit are the ones with an unlocked bootloader, and those are basically exclusively AOSP. Leaving you with:
-Motorola
-Sony
And if you want to narrow it to the ones that support GrapheneOS which is arguably the best custom AOSP available you're left with:
-Motorola
With the latter releasing a model with GrapheneOS support next year. So ironically you're stuck with paying Google, the architect of the enshittified spyware of Android, to get the cleanest, freest Android experience. Such is the world we live in.

Yeah no shit
>no headphone jack and no mSD slot
>budget chinkshit
>overpriced and underpowered
But you know what, I'll take a hardware compromise if it means I don't have to compromise on software. If I wanted to get a phone to jerk off about having the best paper specs in the world, I'd get an iPhone. But I'm not a homosexual like most of this thread.
>>108669583
>open source development existed since it's inception
>it still does and will continue to thanks to GOS/adb
>unrooted Android lets the end user do more than a jailbroken iPhone
If you're a gorilla that only ever uses a web browser and social media then get an iPhone, but if you believe that you represent the wants and needs of every human being on the planet, then shut your mouth for everyone else's sake.

Well at least you didn't go with the M series that has "OneUI Core" where Smasnug outright disables AOSP functionality you'd get on the cheapest Motorola just to make you buy an A series model. It's a phone, you'll be fine.

Oh so you wanna play semantics, okay.
Software ecosystem. Same reason why Windows =/= Linux no matter how you put it.
iOS doesn't have an alternative for Tasker. It's something that can only be done on Android due to how the OS is designed, and it's something I'd be missing on iOS. Or open source apps that let me block adds, like NewPipe or GrayJay. Can't get those on iOS. Not on App Store, no mechanism to actually install the software I want on a device I bought.
Not like Apple shills like (You) would ever understand why would someone want to use apps like these.
>>108669730
The main issue with these comparisons and everyone circlejerking around them is that a huge bulk of the battery use isn't app usage or the screen being on, but the mobile radio constantly negotiating connections with the nearest BTS towers as you go about your day. These synthetic tests never have this aspect of battery usage in them, unless they're being done in a van that's constantly driving around.

I don't know why I open this general. Genuinely one of the worst shitheaps on this site. Reading you faggots feels like getting a lobotomy.
The worst part you are so souless you can't even conceptualize the feeling of shame. Which would match the mind of an izzat farming dalit that is obsessed with the most soulless, most dumbed-down form of technology that are smartphones. And I wouldn't be surprised that if 4chan put a hard lock on Indian IP's this general's quality would instantly improve overnight.

Google is definitely a decent choice too. I personally don't care about a locked bootloader, but to each their own.
>>108675304
You wish you had stuck with the Galaxy.
>>108676199
Why?
>>108676311
Not much bloat. On mine there's a few Samsung apps I don't use, and there's AppCloud, which people complain about (4chan in particular dislikes it because it's made by an Israeli company). I just disable apps like that. Simple.

>>
>>108676492

>its weaker hardware for money
I'll take slightly weaker hardware if it means security updates for longer, and a phone that doesn't send your data to the CCP.
>and it has jewshit spyware
You probably mean AppCloud, made by an Israeli company. Firstly I doubt it spies on you. Secondly you can disable it in the settings. Apparently you can remove it entirely with adb.
>and it breaks under 2 years
I doubt that. Also, Samsung mid-range phones have security updates for 6 years, which is much longer than other phones, which might only get 2 to 4 years of security updates.
>and weakest battery on the market
Samsung's mid-range phones these days have 5,000 mAh batteries.

I want a new phone.
My $200 chinese poco from 5 years ago is still working fine though. I barely use my phone for anything besides light web-browsing and studying. The only regretted I've had from using a budget one is not having a good camera while traveling.
What are some useful things I could do if I bought a nice modern flagship phone that a budget one can't? I'm looking for excuses.

One big perk of getting a flagship released in the past couple years is UltraHDR support, but to be fair there are some upper midrange phones that support it as well. It sounds like a stupid bullshit gimmick but it actually does make pictures look better. It completely gets rid of the uncanny tonemapped look that's so characteristic of smartphone pictures because it's displaying images in real HDR which removes the need for tonemapping.

Disappointing, but its at least encouraged me to clear out my phones storage a bit even if I'm not upgrading.
