So I just had to re-download my whole offline music library on my phone since it corrupted cus sd cards suck ass (I use jellyfin on server and symfonium on phone)....does music streaming not have this issue of offline music corrupting/remaining corrupted? Seems even though I have a source of truth (jellyfin server) that there isn't a way to verify my files against that source of truth in symfonium. But I'd imagine apple music or whatever either CAN do that or automatically DOES that?

Hello,

I recently uploaded a video and I got banned right after because they thought I retagged and re-upload.

I made a big mistake and shared that video with a friend and on a telegram group before uploading it to Huno. (I didn't have access to VPN bc upgrading home internet at that moment otherwise I wouldn't have)

I purchased the video and grabbed it myself and also email them the receipt, but no one got back to me.

I seeded none stopped on all my dl since I got in and always kept my account in good standing.

There's no IRC for support.

How can I reach them to show them the proof and hopefully get my account back?

Downloading to nvme then moving to seed destination is the first thing to do to achieve proper Sequential Writes to HDD. Keeping ONLY large files that amount to approx 3TB -5TB; that are in high demand is the best way to go. Having your RAM do the heavy lifting instead of the disk drives/pool you're seeding from. Having the HDD formatted to btrfs with no-CoW, in my opinion and experience, is the best, because it eliminates the chatter and the disk-head(s) only reads exactly from where the files are and aren't jumping about resulting in severe wear and tear leading to early disk failure.

So, we got hacked today. Gonna be straight with you about it.

Someone got into our ancient phpBB forum software - which we've been meaning to kill off for years, and this has finally motivated me to actually do it. From there they got into the forum admin panel and downloaded copies of the forum database before we caught on and shut it down.

What that means for you: if you had a forum account, assume your **forum email address, password hash, IP address, and private messages** are in someone else's hands. The phpBB passwords are bcrypt so they're not trivial to crack, but you should change your password here and anywhere else you've used the same one. Seriously, the reuse thing will bite you.

As for the tracker side of things - we don't have evidence that the tracker database was separately grabbed, but given the situation we'd rather you treat it as potentially exposed too. Change your tracker password while you're at it. Rotate your passkey if you are paranoid (and you probably should be).

Stuff we've done since: rotated all the database passwords, removed the attacker's access, flipped the site fully over to HTTPS-only (there were only 5 users left using http announces), taken the old forum offline and we're in the process of converting the phpBB forum to a static read-only archive so it can never be a problem again. Should've done that sooner. Lesson learned the hard way.
