>>108672638
mechanical locks will only have a place in critical systems, but everything else is switching to keyfobs
>>
>>108672680
that's for when your lazy ass doesn't bother to change the battery

obviated by living in an affluent suburb
>>
No.
Imagine changing a battery for a door. Lmao.

>on a technology board
>his door doesn't even lock itself after he goes inside
>he doesn't wire up his door frame to his door with armored cable and use a solenoid to control access to his door
>>
Yes, but it's because we will have built a high-trust enlightened society, not specifically because of technological improvements.
>>

You gotta chill out with this anti-semitism
>>
>>108672638
AI replaced this already.

Kill yourself.

my fucking condo I'm renting has the fucking fob keys and I hate it. they're actually such a piece of shit. they take literally 1 minute to verify sometimes. technology is garbage.

I hope not.

Yea. In China they use facial recognition.
>>
>>108675353
Do I need to drag the corners of eyes and protrude my incisors to pass hotel door if I visit China?
>>
>>108675374
hotel uses keycard, apartment/gym/metro uses facial recognition
>>

>password is a random combination of every number
good luck
>>
>>108675139
(n k) = n! / k!(n - k)!
so n is 3 and do we know if k is 3 or 4 or more
>yes I had to look it up last time I took a test on this shit was 20+ years ago and that’s probably still wrong
>>
>>108675446
real way is just watching people go in or out a block away with binoculars, or in a bigger building just walk behind them and look like you live there
someone did this at my old apartment building then broke into almost every car in the garage that had sellable shit
they supposedly wore a UPS outfit lol
>it was a lot of cars

if it's 4 digits, I'd say 1901

no, mechanical locks have been used for centuries. look at old Chinese wooden locking mechanisms

Go to the guards and cope
>>
>>108675939
I live in a safe country, I don't need guards :)
>>

This.
If you're still using locks and keys in the current day and age you're being left behind, on your way to be part of the permanent underclass.
>>
>>108672736
>It's better
>still quits at random
My lock is powered by my hand. It doesn't have that issue.

Living affluent means when you are robbed, you are robbed by pros.
>>
>>108675139
00419. They were lazy enough to make it the contact number, then threw the 9 on there to make it "secure".
>>
>>108675139
0451 duh
The rubbed off buttons are a red herring.
>>
>>108675139
can't wait for securityfags to push for the blank keycap meme to "stop side channel attacks"
>>
>>108676261
not a bad idea, but we already have a better option: change the numbers on the buttons randomly each time one is pressed.
this eliminates both uneven wearing and also makes it far harder for a shoulder surfer to tell what you entered (would require the numbers be visible, not just the position)
>>
>>108672736
Yeah but the mechanical part of those is always horribly weak because it's not considered part of the security of it
>>
>>108676316
That requries a method of displaying the numbers, which increases your attack surface somewhat.
>>
>>108672638
We need cloud based locks so the government can know when you're home and easily open the door when needed

I live in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere in the swiss mountains. No niggers here, i could leave on vacation leaving all my doors and windows unlocked and things will be just like i left them when I'm back.
In fact i don't even bother locking my doors when i go out less than an hour.
>>
>>108672638
Not until we find a way to make electronic locks that don't require batteries or external power

i always keep my doors locked. Someone might steal my GPU. I keep more than just my apartment locked up though

You're a pussy. I lived in the hood of NYC. I was the only person in my zipcode with blue eyes. I never locked my door. Nothing happened. I wish an intruder would dare challenge me to a duel inside of my abode. Anyone is welcome to take their shot, and receive a proper thrashing in return.

The scout didn't even try with the pad because he didn't know the code. It was obvious, all along.
