>>109002499 I'd like one with a separate backend that does the dirty work, so that my client remains thin and is like 500KB in size, since there is no reason why it shouldn't be that size or smaller.
>>109002499 testing it, I noticed it shows stats and tries to guess what you like, still showing slop after slop after slop, I guess youtube is almost unfixable at this point, gonna keep training it and removing the slop for a while
>>109002645 PipePipe legit fucking sucks. Any, and I mean ANY application that doesn't support recommendations is automatically shit. It's how you find new content and creators.
Been testing this shit, and sorry, I know you may the "creator," but this doesn’t mog anyone, seriously. Especially in the stability and leanness department. It crashes on half the videos, and on most shorts/song doesn’t even load, or crashes right at the beginning. It also stutters a lot, even on 480p videos, while with NewPipe and PipePipe, I can load and watch 4K smoothly. It’s always the same old story of an project ruined by feature creep, where they rush to add every possible feature to """mog""" everyone, forgetting the most important thing, the user experience. And it’s absolute shit now, no matter how polished or nice this bloated turd looks.
>>109002499 >Just put a little more into the app bro >We just need ten new features >Just one more AI companion and we'll be more popular than the upstream projects
>>109002645 based >>109002685 it works on my machine >>109002748 don't need it if you already have a good enough subs base to transfer over, plus modern recs on normal youtube are dogshit clickbait, poorly researched video essays and ai slop
>>109002505 If you aren't trying to avoid the UI, tracking, and recommendation algorithm, use Revanced. It handles background play better than running the website in a browser, eats less battery, and has additional extensions and customizations like SponsorBlock, alternative thumbnails, Return YouTube Dislikes, show shorts in the regular player, and options for which elements appear in your feed or in the player UI.
>>109002893 Im not the dev. It seems it's not even 1 years old while newpipe is like a decade old. Newpipe also won't ever port to other platforms while this dev promises to port it eventually.
>>109004221 I'm checking the RethinkDNS real-time pings and logs. So far, it appears to be clean, but, it still remains that needing to know and access device UUID is very sketchy and suspicious.
>>109004253 Google and firebase analytics regularly report android version, make and model. It's not unusual. It's only suspicious if you see hardware fingerprints like IMEI being transmitted. This app is open source so you can go find the analytics code that is sending this
>>109004500 I had a quick look and couldn't find the exact code but they have crash reporting and feedback to the developer options that gather this info. There's probably an option to turn that off somewhere. I'm not too concerned anyway, the codebase looks normal
>>109002748 >muh recommendations Yeah because getting shoved in your throat 6 [unrelated shit i don't care], 5 [barely related shit but samey, superficial and useless], 7 [shit i have already seen], 5 [straight up slop], 6 [reaction tier ytman grifters using mr. beast thumbnails] and 4 [unrelated shit from another country, mostly india, using ai translations and/or voiceover] is way more useful than using the search bar, right? Search may be fucked up as well but at least i have some agency over it.
