I'm not even defending artists here, I'm just speaking for myself as someone who can usually pick out AI images and likes when they get a hand-drawn image in a search.

If the artifice of AI could be eliminated then maybe I'd let it go but it ain't happened yet and there's a lot of facets that need to be smoothed over for it to be truly convincing. Right this second there's too many subjectivities that AI can't seem to overcome when it comes to generating art that no human touched beyond what they prompted.

People will say no to AI for some open source project then drop support to Windows 7 and hate W7 users if they use it longer than absolutely necessary before switching if the next OS literally has ads. Ads in OS are fine but they draw the line to AI.
