There were also Black slave soldiers in the Fatimid caliphate and Alaouite Morocco (Abeed al-Bukhari) who were not castrated but were married with children.

They were separate from the Black eunuchs.

They also had a totally separate corps of Black slave soldiers.

The Qing was just unfortunate in its timing, it was set to absolutely rape any non-industrial state and that's what it was doing. Then even against the rise of the industrial west, it actually faced this challenge better than every other state except Japan. It's just that facing this the second best was still utter humiliation.
