80s Japan was to the US was China is today. In both cases, instead of competing fairly on an economic ground, Americans decided to just try to destroy their rival. In the case of Japan, it was a success and their economy has been stagnating since the 90s. China will win this time, though.

China's economy is already stagnating exactly the same way that Japan's was, including a Property Sector Crisis that's been ongoing since 2020 which resulted in the collapse of one of their largest development companies. In fact, the parallels between the two are fairly striking
