Drawing on and off, mainly just endless exercises and studies.
I’ve done some sketches that were more finished than others but haven’t colored anything in a long time.
I have a more focused study plan now so I hope I can get back to finishing something this year.

I’m just garbage, and really slow, so any time I try to draw a completed piece it takes forever and looks like shit.
I’ve been specifically grinding studies to improve my speed so hopefully there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

>I’ve been specifically grinding studies to improve my speed so hopefully there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
There is, unironically.
I've noticed with speed practice (for sketches and even big projects like the OP) the main thing that impacts your speed (I'm sure you've had this issue too) is perfectionism.
>this line is too messy
>that colour isn't proper
>it's too scratchy looking
You genuinely have to learn to dismiss that nagging voice inside your head if this is one of the factors fucking with you bro.
Also deadlines can help tighten your focus, be it deadlines from others or self-imposed. Like pic related was my Christmas themed Pinup for this year and I got it done on Christmas morning despite all my other projects/comms/etc because the pressure of the holiday enabling me to focus harder.

>Woman
Not hyper-rendered revealing clothing yet somehow completely devoid of sexual energy (likely just drawing it for the easy patreon bux) so I really doubt it. Also not extremely gross tumblr tier fat and stretch marks and body hair, so probably not a lesbian either.
>Gay man
The most exaggerated hyper feminine bodies and faces, absolutely 0 detectable androgyny in any part of the illustrations; the better question would be why you would even ask something so silly?
To test a theory of mine - will you please confirm that you are a woman (probably 30+)?
It's like some sort of female instinct to put men down by calling them gay, even when it makes absolutely no sense. His work is teeming with virile energy, and the fact that you can't see that is a big tell.

Thanks bros, I tell other young/struggling artists to always be drawing regardless of their current quality and to sign their works, including WIPs because that's how you learn/improve/excel.
For me the reason I draw so much is because it's both my literal job now AND I genuinely love drawing. I 've drawn so much the past 4 years ever since finally monetizing my art that I'm unironically immune to mental burnout and and physical carpal tunnel.
>ex. If I get bored of a specific piece I'll "take a break" from it by drawing something else, and once I'm good I'll go back to what I was working on.
I implore and assure you all that curbing your perfectionism (which all us artists have) and drawing regardless of what others say is the way forward.
And always sign your work, even sketches and WIPs!

its always good seeing gmi artists on this board, but ive also been schizo nervous that i cant learn to draw from imagination, ive progressed from nothing to something but also now im in a spot where idek if studying references all the time is really helping me, and idek if i can even make it anymore, posting to 0 audience seems really bleak
>>
>>7874656
It was never about the audience. If you can't make art for yourself, and only yourself, you won't understand. Outward appreciation comes later. It must come from you, not someone else. Once you do that, you'll be ok.
>>
>>7874656
If ur studying references and not gaining anything from them they aren't intentional studies. To see if your study actually had intention, you have to test the skill you were trying to refine after you did the study. Whether that means drawing a form from memory, something in perspective, applying color, texture, etc. A study without application is like studying for an exam but never taking the test/project. That's not there to make you feel good, it's there to see if you actually understood what it was you were learning. I see many people waste so much time doing studies the wrong way. They just copy without actively trying to refine a specific fundie or skill.

Eh, I'm focusing on core draftsmanship skills (the fundies), rather than rendering or style for now, though I'll take your advice when I'm ready.
I do admit, I almost seem to be leaning towards a style with my hatching, though I'm not sure where I picked that up - probably just laziness and not being bothered to learn how to actually hatch properly.
>And make sure to sign yours as well, even WIPs or sketches
I don't see much point when I'm not posting anywhere other than here. When I'm ready to start posting art under an actual name is when I'll probably start signing my work... whenever that is.

>Eh, I'm focusing on core draftsmanship skills (the fundies),
That's fine bro, just don't get blindsided by your own inherit perfectionism (we're artists, we all have a perfection complex to varying degrees), cause it's essentially a mental pit.
>hatching
You can do a fuckload of beautiful pieces with that but it's an acquired skill, so keep sharpening that axe as much as you can.
>I don't see much point when I'm not posting anywhere other than here
It's a good habit not just for notoriety and people know you drew the damn thing, but also putting a date next to your signature is great for archival purposes and so you can look back at your work like "oh nice this is from 20(XX) look how far I've come!".
You're welcome, keep drawing Playa
>>7883057
>What do you mean by this?
>Have an idea of what I want to draw before I start
Yes but a damn good idea of what you want, how + where it's gonna fit on the page/canvas, just a strong visualization (you dont have to imagine the completed final piece, just a bit more than a basic skeleton).
You're essentially training your "Mind's Eye", and eventually you can visualize a lot more as you do.
>Also, all I've been doing is drawing what I want and sometimes doing gesture studies Will it come naturally?
Depends on how often your drawing and actively learning new shit. You're already adding rendering/shadows without reliance on solid lines (which I had to learn, so you're actually a step above), it's just practice and study.

Bruh, tone down the saturation in your backgrounds when your characters are already using strong colors. It makes the piece feel messy and harder to look. People scroll fast on Twitter, so your art needs to be easy to see in a second.
You can make a vivid, saturated style work, but only if you balance it with darker tones. Your art just make my eyes hort

Very good Playa, it gets easier ofc and sometimes the drawing will literally "draw itself" if you see things that suddenly emerge as you're drawing and rather than erase them, keep them up until the final product or outright ditch your original ideas in favour of this new spontaneous development.
Keep practicing your "Mind's Eye" first and foremost, OCs are unironically perfect for this kind of study.

Depends on the level of quality you're hoping for. I've seen some pretty good 3D printed custom statues. You can find artists who do all 3 (design, print, paint), other times you have to find a separate source for each. Pic related is a custom one from a guy who does it all himself.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>7939628
Are we talking about a single statue, or many?
If it's on a larger scale, it'd probably be better look at plastic mold injection rather than 3D printing.
If you only want one, or very small batches, then 3D printing is the way to go.
As far as I'm aware, there quite a number of places (even some public libraries) that do 3D printing on such projects - whether it's a single piece, or a small number of prints. They may do larger numbers, but again, it'd be more cost effective to look at Plastic Mold Injection at that point.
As for quality of the final output, just read reviews, or if you ARE doing a large batch, make sure they give you test copies that you can look at and judge before actually going to production - which should be done regardless of the type of project; you wouldn't want a printing error ruining your comics for example.
