Hi, stupid question, I plan on trying to getting into drawing again after a few years.
Should I get a new scrapbook or pick up from my old scrapbook? Would it matter?

Also, how do I make sure I improve and not mindlessly draw and waste time?

Obviously that doesn't actually matter but I personally prefer to use a fresh one to signify the gap in time

Actually follow guides and focus on things you need to learn instead

Draw with intention and draw because you want to and enjoy it. Do you have an idea you want to see on paper? Do you have that dream illustration or story in your head you want to visualize? Draw that, and take the time to look at every area that didn't quite come out as you had imagined. Ask yourself where you think you went wrong or why you think you made the errors you did. Then use that to study your weakest points (i.e. anatomy, perspective, etc.) Rinse and repeat.
