Cool story bro, I don't have the genes to git gud. If everyone was good, their would still be a top 1%, and you have to be in that top 1% in order to get anything out of this craft outside of personal fufillment. I could work myself like a chinese piano student/whiplash, and I would still lose out to chinese artists. My parent's literally do not give a fuck about anything I draw thanks to AI. Fuck this lame, fake and gay world.

Same here. I have potential, but I just don't have the right genes for good work ethic. Some people have genes where they can just do whatever they want and don't give a shit. They live as perma virgins and live like kings, constantly playing videogames and doing whatever they want. I just can't do this. My genes just tell me to kill myself. I don#t feel like doing anything. The best scenario for me would be to never be born.

I don't know how /beg/s start in 2026. I see people working so hard and they're drawing at level 0 while being bombarded with slop, ragebait, porn, AI, and everything else shitty on the internet.
Whats crazy is I don't even remember how I did it when I started drawing when I was younger. What I was thinking or what motivated me, its all forgotten. So I have no advice for people.

I wish I had internet when I was young. I grew up poor and there never was any money for a PC, let alone internet. Everything I learned was just from stealing artbooks, manga, and watching anime. Literally having the entire knowledge of human history on your finger tips gives you immense advantage.

Then give up and stop bitching. It's called the crab mentality for a reason faggot. Because people like you give up, but you don't settle with just that, no, you try to drag everyone else down with you because you fear that someone who is your exact shoes will actually make something of themselves which would prove that you could also have made something of yourself but gave up because it was too hard.

So is working hard the answer, or not? Those chinese artists are good because, as you said, they worked hella' hard.
I'm not a musician because I never practiced any instrument.
I'm not a writer, because I have never put in the effort to write a book.
I'm not a programmer, because I've never programmed anything.
And others are not artists, because they have not trained to be such.
You claim we only care about the top 1%, but the top 1% of what?
All people who've ever drawn? Then yeah, I guess they do, and most people on this board are probably part of that 1% percent.
Of current living people who are considered artists? Then I give a hard disagree. I hardly care for the most technically poficent artists, fuck, there's a thread on this board right now in praise of R.Crumb. Technical proficiency is only a means to an end, and that's all the audience cares about; that end product.

Even if they are, what does it matter? What's a famous piece of modern work that a chinese artist has made that anyone gives a shit about? The only pieces of recent chinese art I've heard anything about is Black Myth Wukong and some mobile games. I've heard nothing about their 'high art'.
You can have the best academies and teachers in the world, but unless the students are making anything of note, who cares?

Have you considered that technical skill doesn't fucking matter? Being good at art doesn't matter?
Mob Psycho 100/One Punch Man don't LOOK technically impressive, what matters is the STORY that's being told with the art. If the story is good, the art being top 1% god-like straight up doesn't matter.
Early Invincible looks like DOG SHIT, but it's the STORY that mattered.
This drawing from Tails Gets Trolled isn't technically "good", but it conveys so much emotion that it's been used as a meme for years.
There is tons of technically impressive and well rendered work that doesn't fucking matter because the 'story' it tells is BORING!!!! If you have a good story to tell, then the art that's used to tell that story doesn't matter as much as you think it does.

Just because a manga is popular doesn't mean it must have a great story. If you compare One Piece story to the classics of literature, I don't think it would keep up very well. Shonen manga don't need super good art, because they are targeted at children anyway.

No, because a "story" isn't strictly writing or text on a page. Stories can be told entirely through visual mediums. Take "The Night Watch" by Rembrandt, there's a lot of interpretations of this painting and a lot of shit going on in it. Without any text at all, it's an interesting story being told about the people in it and the context in which it was painted.
You retards are obsessed with Chris-Chan and the 'Sonichu' comic, which is not a piece of technically good art.

You are proving my point directly, it doesn't matter that your art be "The top 1%" because what matters is that it resonates with people. I don't even like One Piece, but it's a manga that MILLIONS of people fuck with in my opinion is a lot more important than it being "the top 1%" of technical art mastery or storytelling lol
There are probably artists technically better than a mangaka like Oda but no one knows who they are, which isn't me saying that making money or being known is important, but my central point here is that story matters more than being mechanically good at art.

It totally depends on what you want. Not every style fits to commercial success. That doesn't mean that it's worse, just means it's more niche.
Many artists who went a commercial route later actually regret it, because they very often can't draw what they really want. They maybe can buy a sports car, but they can't draw what they want.
Also, the thing about shonen manga is that you have to consider how fast they get produced. The artist who made One Punch Man maybe doesn't create masterpieces, but I've seen him drawing, and the guy can draw fast as fuck. That's a thing you have to consider with drawing. It's not just the quality of the drawing, but also the whole volume of output you have.

See all this vitriol aimed at you OP? Remember it when you crab. It's not enough that you should fail and suffer, others should too. Put everyone around you down subversively. Give wrong advice and waste people's time. Never share resources, instead report all the good resources you see to try to get them taken down/DMCA'ed. If anyone leaves the bucket, it'll remind you of your own failures, so do everything you can to keep everyone around you down.

Damn look at these colors. The cool blues and greys from the ambient lighting of the sky, the hard rim light from the sun. The subsurface scattering in the ear giving those beautiful saturated reds and oranges. The muddied greys and browns that are potentially from the bounce lighting the natural greens in the foliage and environment, the purples, the oranges and pinks of the shadow values. Ah fook im gonna coom
