32 pages is a lot for your first comic. I actually would just keep it to about 20 pages for your first story. One of the main mistakes of beginner comic artists is that they try to draw some epic long story, when in reality you learn much more by just drawing a few short stories first.

I wish I had the endurance to draw 32 comic pages tho. I probably have even less motivation than you.

32 one sided A4 pages, which I worked on since the beginning of 2025. In a printed book its actually just 16 pages. It is actually mostly a collection of cartoons and stories though. We both have zero motivation

by "let go" I mean be okay with it sucking. It doesn't have to pass a threshhold of quality to be worth it. And you need to accept that probably very few people will read it.

That#s a good pace for a beginner. You shouldn't be too hard on yourself. Drawing comics is very very difficult. Even really good artists struggle with comics, because you also need to know how to write and combine writing with drawing.

It's the volume of drawing that you have to do that makes it hard, even for the good artists, because many artists, even professionals don't practice economy and speed at that level. A lot of people are good only because they spend countless hours polishing a single piece, that doesn't work so well in comics.

Comics are hard for many reasons, but the writing aspect is a big reason for it too. That's why even just drawing a decent 20 page comic is hard, because you actually need to know how to tell an interesting story in 20 pages and how to translate that into panels

There are lots of illustrated story types that are not as exhausting as comics. Pretty much any text to drawing ratio you feel comfortable with.
