How do you get over ugly art? Every time I draw, I see the result I'm in pain. I downloaded more than 10 books on figure drawing alone. 10! I can't even copy right! Am i ngmi?

What I do is just delete the artwork. Because I'm an emo weirdo

You don't want to hear this but the answer is to just keep practicing.
The same advice that's been given for the entirety of human history, just practice, it's not going to change, it's the only way for any living thing to learn. Discard your desire for instant gratification.
Think of what you're drawing as if it's a puzzle to work through, you're just piecing it together and going through all of the clues and mechanisms to solve it and get the result from your head onto the page or screen or canvas. Use references.

appeal cannot be quantified.
all you can empirically do is improve your drawing fundamentals.

Like >>7947636 said, you power through it. The more you power through it, the less bad your art becomes, and the easier it becomes to power through it. Eventually you'll start to be satisfied with your art, and things will be much, much easier from there. Just think of it like this: right now is the hardest part of the challenge. From now until the end of your life, drawing will only become easier. You just need to get over this first big hurdle.

Drawing something and then feeling pain is something that doesn't seem to go away. This might be due to not being focused at that particular time, raising or shifting standards for oneself, or the most likely reason of me being a permabeg, either way it's something you just have to accept, or more productively use the sentiment to fuel your desire to improve.

Given the information you provided, it might be helpful to complement your figure books (they are important even for stylized characters like yours) with some character design ones, I recommend Stephen Silver or the "How to Think when you Draw" lineup.

Using construction, remembering that our brains like symmetry and circles, and adding even a small element of depth (employing the illusion of 3 dimensions) can go a long way for even a simple drawing.

I draw more stuff to bury it with. Maybe one day the top of the pile will look passable and I'll forget about the complete dogshit I'm known for.

Or I'll just burn it down and kill myself I guess.

Just downloaded the book of Stephen Silver. I'll keep that in mind.

in technicality, as retarded as it sounds, you will always be a beginner or rather should be, constantly learning and striving for mastery. stay hungry, anons.

Haha, Rookie numbers!
I thought I'd just check my art books, and I have about 150. Granted, I do study through them, unlike some hoarders, but I somehow doubt I'll really go through all of them.
Though it's nice knowing that if I want to study a particular thing, whether painting, sculpting, or anatomy, I have the info at the ready.

Your art isn't ugly its cute just with a few flaws. What you need isn't just practice but also confidence stop doubting yourself your pretty capable

Absolute stunning. Thank you so much anon. Today I spent 2 hours copying this. I also am thinking of copying all the stuff in the Preston Blair books for a few weeks or month before moving on to the next stage (I actually don't know where to go after Preston Blair, but I'm focusing on the Preston Blair first).

I am, currently. Been trying to make myself draw every day for the last 19 days. Haven't progressed much and I'm trying to make it a habit. At first I was only able to draw for 20 minutes, but today I could put out 2 hours which is an improvement in time. Thou, I'm still struggling with everything. Thank you guys so much for helping me start.

I'll treasure every drawing, even the bad ones. A person don't make that many art in their lifetime anyways, didn't even pass the 100,000 number! Each piece has around 1 to 3 mb, you can easily store your stuff locally.
>>
>>7947593
It's the face. Too small, eyes too far apart, confusing expression. If you wanna make her cute, make the eyes bigger and the forehead bigger. Or the cheeks bigger but narrow chin.

If you're a beginner and you've downloaded 10 figure drawing books, you've set really high expectations. Why does your art matter to you, why do you need to be good? If someone put a bunch of clay in front of you and asked you to make a figure, it would suck, but you probably wouldnt care, it wouldnt mean anything to you. Why does your art being good mean so much to you, what do you want to be a good artist for? Also line art fucking sucks to make, I need to find another style.

>>7950498
Man I love this anon
>>7958368
This is really good too
Why do the best artists on /ic/ always seem to hide and only come out once in a blue moon
