>I created a twitter and newgrounds account but the animation received little attention. That's life
You only just started posting with those accounts. It's a game of accumulation, very few can get lots of followers with just an image or two, and usually that only happens because they have a reputation already, like being a well known animation director, or videogame artist, or something.

how long did that animation in OP take, blank page to finished? and what software?
I'm pretty experienced in 3d animation (my preferred 2d animation right now would honestly be blender's grease pencil because I'm soooo fucking comfy in blender) and I'm even more experienced in figure drawing, but I haven't really broken the seal on 2d animation.

yep, search banned already and most likely shadowbanned as well. With nsfw you have to work fast enough to get a decent or large following before any of that happens, so once you do get any form of traction/following, it would continue to grow from that alone. Try to make fan art of a popular artist oc(That you like) with those animations of yours.

@sexy_beetle
>>7953729
Yeah consistency is key. It's hard to post regularly with animations since it takes so long
>>7953744
around 25 hours of work give or take. I use Toom Boom Harmony, the best 2D software there is imo.
The good thing is that the base principles translate to any medium of animation, you can probably pick up 2D quite fast. I want to learn 3D too, the software is too complicated for my smooth brain though.
>>7953752
It's good, It's a classic for a reason but I would recommend the animators survival kit from richard williams over it
>>
>>7953774
I dont think I'm shadownbanned It was the same in most plataforms. I'm just an unknown artist

People usually discourage it but hashtags on twitter seem to help with reach and growth. I've been drawing stuff for a niche fandom and using hashtags I've been gaining followers and engagement since. Not much but still better than the absolutely nothing at all that I used to get
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>7953804
I don't know it depends on the context of what you animate. If its fanart look up hashtags related to that franchise if its original nsfw then look up some nsfw tags other animators use or tags for the fetish if its specific
>>
>>
>>7953580
Unironically post your art in related gooner art subreddits, your art will get attention, most of the nsfw artists I know post on reddit as well as twitter. Twitter shadowbans new accounts unless you post enough for several weeks. I don't know if getting followers will help that.

Question:
Does anyone know of a good web/json animation program, like lottiefiles or Rive, that is preferably not a shitscription?
I've been thinking of adding a bunch of animated elements to my website when I get around to making it, and I'd rather not have to pay any of these scumbag companies if I can.

Well it is a higlight and a reflected light.
Highlights dont follow directions and depend on your point of view. Image related
The other one (on the bottom) is reflected light from the ground. I imagined a shiny wooden floor that is reflecting the moonlight back to her cheeks.
Both are extemely exaggerated and are there to put focus on the butt. It is not a serious light study.

Yeah, it's objectively wrong. Just own it being wrong instead of pretending it ain't.

I though that he was genuinely confused haha.
I do tend to sperg out when talking about animation and can come as condescending sometimes. I do agree that the highligh ended up being a little distracting but I need to move on to the next animation.
Anyways new wip.

yeah I think I went overboard with the shadow opacity. I almost never do post production so I'm still learning on that aspect, and color is a weak point too. I still need to find a good production pipeline.
The new one has more tamed shadows. pic related

The lipsync looks a little off, it is a very small sample so there is not much to say. Make yourself a mouth chart and use it, you can move the mandible a little too. Since it is a static character you can do that easily.
Remember that the mouth shape need to appear 1 or 2 frame before the sound.

the silhoutte is pretty skintight nigga
get the cracked tvpaint from the archive n get to it
all you gotta do is erase the internal lineart n reclor the dress shadow to match skin shadow tones
its like ~30 frames tops
think of it as your first step into animation chumbud

Thanks! yeah when I finished the rough animation I noticed the same problem. I could either animate the upper body again, add a stool or short table, I was too lazy to do it again and I found the table distracting so I just said fuck it and left it like that.
Just imagine that she is holding something lol

It's all on the documentation, let me hook you up with links.

TL:DR add a gradient swatch, fill an area with it, modify it with the edit gradient tool

hmmm i remember when 200 likes used to make me happy, the more you get the worse it gets just dont animate for likes please i got to a point where 5k likes was not enough for me, think about the money at the very least that gives something back.

I think 5k is a good number to start a patreon, you have to understand that the amount of followers you get is mostly fake, out of those 5k probably 50 or 100 are real followers that will watch and react to your stuff when it comes out, 5k is probably 5 or 4 comissions if you have the willpower to work like that, patreon is a decent option as long as you know how to deal with the antiporn nonsense (link your videos to google drive, mega, whatever you like using) dont post porn thumbnails because patreon might react to it, kofi or cofee whatever is called i have seen many artist use it, i also know that cash app is an app you might want to use for comissions because the few i worked with used that as their main way of paying, also use paypal but understand that you have to be very sneaky about it, create a fake reason why you receive payments like you are providing a fake internet thing, advisor or some shit so paypal doesnt nuke you account, if you get paid inmediately take it out of there and move it to payoneer or airtm or whatever you like using because paypal will 100% try to stay with your money.....
If you do a comission dont work with retards that ask for too much, filter them by rising your prices because they will try to take advantage of you, also try to use your comissions on your main website so you gain followers while also making money, also make very clear what type of content you want to make because people is willing to pay a lot for weird shit that you cant really capitalize on like loli or gross stuff...
Also consider a pasive income like locking temporarily content on patreon, or just completely paywalling some exclusive stuff, maybe you can paywall whatever content you will never finish, its shit to you but may be enough for someone that wants that little extra from you, there is also alternatives to patreon, just visit big artist and see what they use.

Thank you for all your advice! It is very helpful.
I though about posting the 4k versions and the animation files only on patreon. Maybe have a tier to give animation advice?
Like always, I'm pretty lost on those aspects, but I'm going to check out other artists patreons to see what they do.
I didnt know about patreon being anti NSFW I though that those was a huge amount of the creators on that platform

How am i suppose to reach 5k followers? my time on this earth is not infinite.

It is hard, specially at the beginning. Animation is not intuitive, it took a long time for me to grasp basic concepts like spacing and timing.
You should focus on basic excersices at the start, a lot of bouncing balls and stuff.
>>7959445
Thank you!
>>7959898
Sheesh right now it's at 5.8k likes and I think I got around 500 follows. I coudn't have done it without all the anons advice from here and the shortstack thread so thank you for the sound advice. It REALLY helped.
I have a long way to make it but this is a huge boost. It relied on this big event though so I dont expect my next animation to pull those numbers again.
>>7959914
From what I learned:
1: Follow trends
2: Post with key words (in my case Pomni, Digital Circus and animation)
3: Post in any relevant place possible
4: Animation does WAY better than static images, if you add a small head movement and blink you can get more attention I think. The downside is that it takes a lot of time to learn but you can "cheat" and learn simple cut-out and rigging with Moho for example
>>
>>7959953
Oh no no no, I didn't give you any advice, I just retweeted your pomni animation on my largest account to give it some traction. Normally it's a crapshoot based on the individual I retweet, but you getting 5k is pretty good by my book especially for as late at night as I did it lol.

software wont make you good and learning anatomy is great but animation is a diferent skill. You can create impressive animation with stick figures.
Learn the 12 principles and do basic excersices. Animation takes a lot of time to understand.
>>7960376
haha, nice
>>
>>
>>7960572
I dont know about books but proko and mark bruner anatomy courses are great. For animation I would recommend learning a basic construction that works for you and then concentrate in the line of action, weight and balance.
You can animate simple things like a arm pointing or head turn
