There are many points in a box, so it is not possible to define the point. We can find a center point with a few techniques, though.

To study depth without worrying about detail or complexity.

Box exercises is supposed to be the best way to learn art as it assumes the learner can imagine.

That's why this filters so many /perma-pre-begs/, they can't imagine at all, can't draw beyond the drawing manual examples.

it's the simplest 3D form. so it's the easier thing to draw to develop the skills to draw 3d forms in perspective.

if you can draw a box you can draw anything. so practice drawing 10,000 boxes if you're a beginner before learning anything else

If you want to be able to draw from imagination your subconcious needs to be able to imagine the outlines of 3d shapes automatically.

This gets easier as your brain gets exposed to more an more boxes/cylinders/egg shapes etc.
We can only conciously focus on like one or two things at once, you need to train your subconcious to take care of the fundamental shapes so your attention can be on the drawing as a whole.

Best case you should be easily able to correctly draw only the outlines of a box without drawing any of the inside on top/behind the box.

Real women seem to be able to pay attention to more than two things at once. Do they have a genetic advantage over us?
