I hate how mamy cult classics were made in the past back when the gaming audience was small and their possible audience low meaning they and any possible sequels were doomed to failure if these games had just been released 20 years later they would've been huge successes such a waste of potentially amazing games.
Because the gaming audience at the time took games like this for granted

My first game was with a Gangrel

My first playthrough of this was a Brujah shooter. Quickly maxed out my superspeed as soon as possible which turned out to be a good choice since that shit carried me throughout the game especially in the boss fights like the werewolf and the Chinese demon. I folded to Nine's charisma and joined his faction in the end.

LARPd malk stealth charisma prostitute with cop outfit. Game was good but then Andrei, the bitch a the hotel, and the other tzimisce in the sewers facerolled me because they are bullet sponges and if you dont have high damage you are softlocked. Had to use cheats to beat last boss.

Yes, as Ventrue, Malk, Tremere, half the game as a Nosferatu and some of the way through as Brujah. Both original and Unofficial patch. Ending of it was a bit of a let down after the majority of the game but over-all I loved it. Even did some challenge runs.

>the Camarilla vampires secretly rule the world!
>no, it's actually Pentex werewolves that secretly rules the world!
>no wait, it is actually the Technocracy mages that secretly rules the world!
how do you cope with the lore being so convoluted and contradictory between the different splats?

Brujah aren't inherently aligned with any specific political views. They'll pick any cause and go full retard with it. One of the older books had a set-up for playing as a skinhead Brujah. More specifically for Bloodlines, to can tell the Anarchs to eat a dick and stick with LaCroix to the very end. Or the Kuei-Jin lmao

do you mean the godawful travesty made by the walking simulator studio or the real Bloodlines sequel with actual rpg mechanics and a custom character creator that isn't out yet?

oWoD lore is intentionally written in an ambiguous manner, the books say it over and over. In-universe explanation is that the members of various splats and conspiracies only know a fraction of the truth, and have very limited and biased views of each other and the universe. When you're dealing with centuries of history of secretive cults and magic society things tend to get blurry.
Out of universe explanation is that oWoD lore functions more as a series of hooks to create your own stories, rather than something set in stone to simply follow as law. You get a bunch of rumors, urban legends, myths, and conspiracy theories and pick which ones you think are cool to be true, and throw out the ones you don't like.

We were still in the beginnings of 3d games, there was no dominant design yet until the open world witcherslop ubislop arkhamslop took over all big commercial titles
You got funding for more crazy games with more hazardous mechanics

It's a bit difficult to answer, because it's ultimately up to interpretation and you can decide for your own game. At the highest level you have God, cosmic godlike beings in the umbra, and mythical characters like Caine, Charon, or Lucifer. These characters all exist (probably) but they're as mysterious as they are powerful, you really only hear about them in rumors or fragments. Beyond that level the highest ranking members of each splat hold a lot of secret knowledge. Demons probably know the most because they used to be the angels that created everything, but they're assholes who went insane from being tortured in hell and will probably lie to you if they even remember the truth. A lot of old vampires have collected lore for thousands of years, but it tends to be focused on their own kind. Arch-mages have unlocked many of the secrets of the universe but good luck finding one of those guys anywhere on earth. Faeries and Werewolves are mostly retards. On average as a group the Technocratic Union might be the most well informed, because they see keeping tabs on the supernatural world as their duty.

i have and it's pretty shit to be honest
the game starts out okay but the quality takes an insane nosedive like halfway through the game
the sewers section where you have to battle monsters is such baffingly terrible level design that there are mods made by literal school children that have better level design than that
i can't imagine how people got through this game on release without cheats or fan patches

If anyone is interested this book is pretty good. Protagonist is beckett. I manage to snatch a PDF from a pirate site some time ago but the site was deleted since then.
