As a WAI "refugee" that was the first thing I noticed too, it has less style bleed and adheres way more to just the stuff in the prompt box and nothing more, I switched over to it immediately the moment I noticed it could do parted_bangs and blunt_bangs at the same time on my Rika instead of picking one or the other, which is what WAI does.

For a second I thought the background was Hakurei Shrine and I thought "Man Tenkai really would be the *one* youkai who puts on a human disguise when visiting to not affect Hakurei Shrine's reputation any further" though that does make me wonder we've thought out her relationships with the other Tengu quite thoroughly enough but what about the other characters like the MCs or someone like Sumireko (who is canonically someone who uses GenAI)

And that's fine, me personally I like it because as I've mentioned before I like playing around with the characters and setting in my head with like a bunch of alternate reinterpretations of Gensokyo. It's like "Lewdsokyo" your ideas for Lewdsokyo aren't your actual thoughts on what the canon behaviours and personalities of the characters are like, hell it may not even be your *preferred* ideas for how they act and behave either. But you just like coming up with situations and excuses for the girls to all be sex fiends based in someway off their actual canon personality traits, though that being said I feel like I at most would only imagine like 5% of the cast as having "yuri potential" while the rest would either be uninterested in a relationship or just straight. Though paradoxically in my personal vision of Lewdsokyo, I ship Malice but not in my personal fun vision of Gensokyo Why? Because I find the idea of Alice complaining about never getting any and moaning about how she'll never lose her virginity when she's in a steady relationship with Marisa funny as for the logic of how *that* works, Alice is one of those people that thinks that you only lose your virginity if you have actual unprotected P in the V sex. whereas the idea of Marisa and Alice just being genuine best friends who hang out with each other is more fun to me

So, I've spent most of yesterday and today doing style experiments... and honestly I'm having a tough time making a decision here so I thought I'd share in hopes of getting some feedback, I'm still very on the fence about abandoning my current style.

Basically, lately I've actually been kind of missing how some of my older gens looked, particularly the style I had at around the same time as picrel (June 2025). It's kind of ironic, because for the longest time I was trying to get my style to look as close to Hachimedes's as possible (without being an exact copy), but now that I'm finally here thanks to finding that artist LoRA all those months ago, I kind of just want to go back...

Anyways, because I'm still not 100% sure about completely reverting my style, I thought that maybe I'd see if I could mix a bit of my current style with that old one and kind of get the best of both worlds. More specifically, what I'm doing is just taking that June 2025 style and adding the Hachi LoRA to it at different intensities to see how it reacts.
In truth it's not actually that different from my current style. The June style was 3 artist tags (technically 4, but turns out one of them was a red herring that didn't work) with 2 LoRAs and the shiny_skin tag, because I liked it at the time. My current one is those same 3 artist tags, but with those 2 LoRAs and the shiny_skin tag replaced by that single artist LoRA I talked about. Both of them also have different lineart-related tags, but that's irrelevant since the result is the same, it's just that I found a more consistent way of doing it now.

Anyways, for the experiments themselves, I'm genning sets of 5 images with the same T2I seed, where the only differences between them is the intensity of the Hachi LoRA. In the first one, the LoRA is absent (essentially just my old style, but with the red herring tag removed and the lineart tags replaced by my current method), second one has 0.2 intensity, followed by 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8, which is my current intensity. For subjects, I picked:

I'm probably getting rid of the shiny_skin tag regardless of what I go with, it's too much when combined with the Hachi LoRA. Other than that though, I honestly can't decide between 0.2 and 0.4 intensity. My favorite thing about the Hachi LoRA is the texture that it gives to hair, skin and fabric, but it definitely overdoes it in the skin and clothes sometimes (makes them look wrinkly). My favorite thing about my older style was the more 2D look, the lighting and, as contradicting as it sounds, the simpler textures at times.

Sorry for the long rant but I'm a very indecisive person and this is pretty much all I've been thinking about this weekend. Would appreciate some feedback even if it just boils down to "I like this style the most".

While I'm at it I'll repost some other examples of my older style just to drive the point home.

I think it'd be funny if she's the *one* youkai who puts on a human disguise because she's so cluelessly pure that she ACTUALLY believes youkai aren't allowed in the shrine.

In my eyes she's just a no-name small-fry, in the grand scheme of things, so I don't imagine her having too much of a relationship with anyone outside of the Tengu village. Think of her as an unnamed stage fairy, would you look at one and think "how does she get along with Reimu"? Probably not, but "how does she get along with the Three Fairies" on the other hand? Much more plausible.
As for Sumireko in particular, she might make the connection between Tenkai's ability and AI gen, but Tenkai herself wouldn't know what genAI is unless Sumireko told her about it. Her ability is just a reference to it after all, not the actual thing. You'd also have to find a scenario where the two not only come into contact with one-another, but Sumireko sees Tenkai's ability. I guess finding a copy of her newspaper? Not that those get distributed all that often *cough cough*.

Your earlier comment made me start to ponder what the difference between the two would be, and my interpretation of it was that they're both the same until you actually get within physical reach of the illusion and touch it. A skinwa- I mean, a Mamizou disguised as Rika is going to feel like Rika when you touch her. A Rikako hiding behind a Rika mirage is going to feel very squishy to the touch.

YEP, that's my issue too, interesting to see others have it too. Breast sizes seem wildly inconsistent in chosenmix, medium sometimes looks like large, large sometimes doesn't look large enough, so-on. That's part of the reason why I thought about experimenting with a breast size slider LoRA made by the same guy who made that age slider LoRA we talked about last thread.

Yeah I do really like that kind of continuity acknowledgement. Though I guess this makes sense with how young Reimu was in that gen where he was canonically conceived, I dunno I'd still prefer to place this kind of "everyone's all grown up and well one of them has a kid" setting in the future around when Touhou 23 - 24 would release (which reminds me April is coming up, April's when new Touhou games are announced, time to see if my Psychohistory skills are up to snuff and I correctly predicted Touhou 20.5 will be the next Touhou game to release this year)

A few months ago, someone made a tanned Zanmu hanging at the beach. I quite liked it so I decided to have a go at it. And I guess Hell's gotten a lot more aesthetic and welcoming. Maybe it's one of Hecatia's zany innovations, like that time she wanted to have trees in Hell.
Gathering info for a possible escape from censored lands granted I can afford it, how much storage do I need to generate with IL v14 (maybe 16 or others in the future)? What about the total for LoRAs (I think I probably need, if i'm high balling, 30 or so of them, the rest of the characters are already recognized by IL and may only require T2I doodling for the finer details of their outfits). Not exactly gonna be running on a powerhouse either.

As far as i'm concerned, I think 0.6 and 0.8 seem to be giving the best results. The shading is more consistently pleasing to the eye, the head/neck/body ratio feels more up to standards my brain clicks with, rather than this awkward "chibi but not quite" style the lower intensities seem to suffer (and to an extent, your mafia Three Fairies. I liked the idea, but man something about the head to body ratio had my brain telling me "Something about this' wrong).
It is just a minor gripe, and one from someone whose grasp on anatomy is about as good as a blind infant. Besides, you know your way around post prompt editing, so i'm sure you can fix it.

Do you mean WAI v14? Anyways, I lucked out with storage before this whole shortage problem started, so I never really had to think about it too much... but I'm checking here and my Forge Classic installation takes up 47GB, with 12 of those being LoRAs (66 of them to be exact, though frankly a lot of them are obsolete ones that I tried once or twice and should really to get rid of) and 19 of them being 3 checkpoints, around 6.7GB each. Coincidentally enough, one of those checkpoints is WAI v14, though I've stopped using it in favor of ChosenMix v3.0.
The rest of the storage is a combination of the instalation itself and also extensions like ADetailer and Coupler if I had to guess.

That sure is a highball! PC-98s and Newhus I assume? From my experience, newer checkpoints don't have any issues genning characters from EoSD to UDoALG, apart from some finer details that even LoRAs don't seem to help all that much with. As for PC-98, you can actually luck out with certain characters provided you include stuff about their outfits in the prompt. Shinki, Mima and Elly come to mind. Anyways, if you're thinking about downloading RDMPrompts' character LoRAs in specific, those are usually around 200mb each, so 30 of them would be around 6GB give or take.
Oh and on an extra side note, all of the images I saved while slopping since late 2024 (final results and saved attempts) only amount to a little over 12GB.

That's odd, I think the overall proportions look more chibi-like at higher intensities (bigger/wider head + eyes), but your definition of chibi could be different from mine.

Sort of what I meant with her being a bad example, honestly the more I look at the Tenkai gens in particular the more I regret sharing them and using them to garner feedback, they're really not a good example, there are just too many tags involved in genning her. I also forgot to mention but during the T2I I had to use that Tenkai LoRA as well to keep the outfit and pose consistent, which, as good as it is, definitely contributed for at least *some* style bleed, which I noticed the moment I removed the LoRA for upscaling.

Yes, but the Three Fairies live right next to the shrine, and Reimu visits Geidontei quite often. Tenkai on the other hand lives in a low income housing environment in the Tengu Village, which we both know doesn't exactly welcome humans. I guess if you wanted to form a connection between her and the MCs though you could do it through Aya? Or even something as simple as "Tenkai shows up every so often to gather info about incidents from Reimu". She is pretty diligent after all.

Won't lie, I straight prefer the LORA-less versions for the practical reason of simplicity. Here's the thing about complex shading in sloppa: unlike when it's done by hand, it's not impressive. It's noise, and any and all noise is an opportunity for the model - and the viewer, as has been teased - to misinterpret the intended content. It's more chaff you might need to manually correct for, ultimately, dubious effects. I get being seduced by busy spaces and gradients - hi, I'm traditional_media kettle - but, at the end of the day, it's the ideas, content and polish that make sloppa worth the time of the day, rather than any visual "techniques." In my opinion, anyhow. Still suffering from AOM-induced PTSD here, so perhaps that colours (wheeze) my perception.

That said. It's your stuff. Unless you're doing it for money or attention, you should always go with whatever most pleases your own sensibilities. Other folks' enjoyment? That's incidental. I'm leaning on the lower intensity, 0.4 on all of them. The shading definitely gets more intense as you go up. The images tend to be sharper on the edges/lineart which I like tbdesu. Also helps if you need to edit it in whatever program you use, if that's something you thought about.

It's funny, I sort of picture Tenkai's relationship with Aya and Hatate as being "she thinks they're her friends just because they hang out with her sometimes" when in reality they'll take any chance to mess with her without her being aware. I get that! I'm not exactly trying to impress anybody here, it's a matter of just personally liking how it looks. In general I tend to not really like the anime-style cel-shaded look, I like it when my shadows etc have some gradient and a certain "smudginess" to them. That said though I REALLY like Nopanon' style as well so I guess I'm just a walking contradiction.

Well, that's the thing. I honestly like all of the styles, (apart from 0.8 I guess, I'm a bit fatigued of the LoRA at such a high intensity) so I was just leaving the final coin toss to others. If you knew how long I've spent by now switching back and forth between these images you'd understand.

Ah no, it's definitely not about that, like I said I do like my surfaces having a bit of texture to them, but the LoRA definitely overdoes it at times, even by my standards, which is why I still want to include it but at a lower intensity.

I actually kind of liked the faded look that some of the edges had with the Hachi LoRA, forgot to mention that that was one of my favorite aspects about it too and probably the main driving factor behind me thinking it makes the hair look great. I think I've found a good sweetspot for it regardless though.

this is a case of me pretending Tenkai is a canon character since this is a hypothetical actual printwork. Logically speaking the illustrations in the book are going to be drawn by fanartist volunteers like other printworks (think AFiEU) however in-universe the illustrations are supposed to be actual photographs taken by Aya so what's with the different art styles and varying levels of coloured in / shaded? So Tenkai illustrating it is the explanation for why it's in so many different styles. It's also not without precident since PMiSS and SoPM are supposed to be written and illustrated by Akyuu in-universe

Hey now, don't be putting words in my mouth!
I like Len'en because it's at that sweetspot where it's "different but not too different" but also "similar but not too similar when compared to Touhou. As someone who's OBSESSED with Touhou, having a franchise like that is honestly irresistable, it's like having more Touhou without having to worry about the new additions getting in the way of the existing material. Also, the infancy of Len'en reminds me a lot of the early Touhou days, back when we had a smaller, more tight-knit cast. As much as I love the newer additions to Touhou's cast, lore and whatnot, I do kind of get nostalgic about the times when a smaller cast allowed ZUN to much better flesh out each character and they way they interact with the existing cast. Len'en is kind of at that stage right now, at least in my eyes... granted JynX hasn't done anything meaningful with the franchise for god knows how long now.
Oh and of course I like the designs, music and gameplay a lot as well.

As for THAT subject, although I am not against the idea of swapped 2hus, Zanmu's never been among my candidates despite her inspirations. Her backstory within Touhou itself being much more fletched out is just begging me to lean towards past depictions of Zanmu, which i've done before and am interested to do again. A "pipe dream" creation of mine would be to replicate the moment where Enoko ate Zanmu's flesh, but artistic gore is something that holds as much potential as it is difficult to make. The lighting, the blood, the choice of expression and how conflicted it may look. Maybe one day. Until then, i'll just add that it'll be obvious enough to tell if i'm making a boyhu, it'll leave very little to the imagination, rather than this case of "Oops, forgot to add cameltoe among the tags, guess it's fine enough". Nice adaptation of Toyohime's FW hat. Did you T2I it as ribbon-trimmed, or did you edit them in? It's a good enough approximation of her hat. I also like the commitment to a blue dress and ribbon. That, along with her blonde hair and red eyes, positively activates my neurons. We love primary colors here. I do wish the recently released updated LoRA of hers RDMPrompt provided did provide her FW outfit, but I suppose he doesn't have much material to actually work with, I have seen very little full body FW Toyohime art, so her dress' pattern on the bottom is likely going to stay in the bin for a bit, unless a courageous soul feels up to the task for such a minor detail.

I wanted to take a crack at Tenkai's human disguise myself, but then I spent so long messing around that I didn't do much all day.

My biggest issue with this gen is that the artist mix I used made Tenkai too attractive which is a strange problem to have.
Not all that happy with this one, but I couldn't seem to pull the idea in my head out the way I wanted to.

It's definitely not as "canon" of an interpretation as it once was, but I way prefer my Toyo in blue, since Yocchan is already red and Sagu is purple.

I'm still a bit on the fence about it, on the one hand that it gives her the same eye color as Yorihime, really reinforces the two as being siblings. I also think it gives her a more threatening look, but as you said we've got enough red eyed characters as is...

I typically use these three, depending on the pose I looking to get. Haven't tried doing more than a single character though you probably can do some regional prompting to prompt multiple characters in one go.

DepthAnythingV2Preprocessor: transfers pose/composition using a depth map.
PyraCannyPreprocessor: Good for transferring poses from an image. Sometimes I'll clean up the image as it might try to transfer smaller details to the final image.
OpenposePreprocessor: Uses stick figures. Good for quick poses.

I've been wondering about this by the way, is Regional Prompter better than Forge Coupler? The latter has kind of been acting up for me lately so I've been looking for alternatives, I genuinely can't remember the last time I tried to use Coupler without just giving up after a while and genning two girls separately before editing them into a single gen because I couldn't get this cursed extension to do what I wanted it to. It feels really stiff and limiting at times in how it functions.

I already tried doing some research, but the thing is most of the stuff I've found regarding Regional Prompter is for ComfyUI, and the Forge version of the extension seems to have not gotten any updates in 2 years. Makes me wonder if I'd be shooting myself in the foot by using a poorly optimized outdated version. That or there's a more up-to-date version out there somewhere that I'm failing to find.
Searching for Regional Prompter has also made me find out about Latent Couple, so I'm wondering whether that's worth it too.

I just use comfyUI. Latent couple is okay if you only want 2 regions, but I've found the best way to do regional in comfyUI is to use conditioning, which doesn't require any extensions and has a reasonably low impact on time to gen (80 secs for these, without using regional it takes 30 secs for me and I'm using 4 regions).
You can drag this into comfyUI for my i2i regional flow for it: https://files.catbox.moe/j6noxg.png
You can easily adapt that flow to generate from scratch, though you'll want to use a template image to draw masks on for the regions. You can also adapt it to do hires too.

Seedance2.0 from chyna is apparently the new hot shit, with users generating anime shots and what not from random IPs. Dunno how well it'd work for lewds though.

Illustrious and it's variants have pretty much overshadowed Pony, with Flux, Chroma, and Z image taking some market share. But unless another big leak happens from an image genning corpo like how Illustrious came about, we won't see another breakthrough with image generation for a while.

That's odd! I looked up latent couple and one of the first things I saw was that it was able to do at least 3. It WAS a 2023 video though, and the results seemed a bit... sloppy, in both meanings of the word, so I don't know, after some research it did seem quite outdated, even just searching for it points me to Forge Coupler so I guess it got replaced by that. Speaking of FC though, getting said search result turned out to be a boon in disguise because it did make me read through it again, and I guess what I really need to try doing instead of jumping the gun and looking for alternatives is learning the advanced/mask tabs of the extension, oops.
I'm still a bit curious about conditioning though! I tried looking it up and didn't really get it, maybe it's because it might be a Comfy-only thing, but from what I gathered, it didn't seem too different from genning two/three images seperately, throwing them together in, say, Photoshop, and I2I-ing the result? Only that instead of using photoshop you have Comfy do it for you.

Looks really cute! My only complaint is that it didn't cover up one of her eyes but there are anons here who gen her with both eyes showing so it's no big deal. There's also the fact that you can't really tell that she wears glasses but that sounds like it'd be literally impossible to achieve with the amount of pixels you're given (unless you give her opaque ones but then you lose the red eyes), so it's a reasonable compromise.
All in all, really cute and the official not-official /2huAI/ Tenkai-chan fangame joint project is one step closer to reality! ...not.

Conditioning is functionally just that you change what prompt you're applying to different areas of the image. It's most useful for having your prompts not bleed out of where you want it to be applied - it's very useful for group images, particularly for i2i'ing lucky gens or photoshopped combined gens where the individuals should have differing characteristics. For example, in this gen it'd take quite a few attempts to have each of the fairies doing their specific thing as opposed to the individual tags being randomised between them.

can't say I disagree. I get that it's still solidly in the setup and nothing happens for five months minimum but honestly I'd have taken a slice of life story about Mizuchi living at the Hakurei Shrine before doing this nonsense.
It's so funny to me (read: depressing) that the big crux of the end of the first part of CDS was Reimu taking responsibility for Mizuchi and Mizuchi staying with her and they haven't even interacted in part 2 yet.

Don't want it to be TOO on the money, the girl's got good eyesight! Why would she wear glasses? I might try giving her some of those really tiny, round shades (like Aya had) and see how it looks. I'm gonna go on my autistic rant again about how diffusion models are just inherently incompatible with sprites. It's exhausting to explain because the people that already know go "yeah I can see it bro" and the people that just don't understand pixel art go "I don't get it, it looks fine to me" and no amount of explaining works on them. Or maybe i've just spent too much time on /v/ fighting this losing battle.

You shrimply cannot enforce a uniform grid with a limited palette through the model alone, and only with a dozen external tools and manual redrawing will you get something that actually qualifies. Even the image you posted doesn't have a singular solid white color, there's over 40 shades of near pure white which has to be manually erased and several more darker greys that start to blend with edges.
I called it years ago when pixel filters started getting popular and have been "just 2 more months bro it'll be fixed"ed since.
(Not trying to shit on your effort, this is just how diffusion models will always be until we get a generative model that doesn't rely on noise seeding and pixel autism is just My Thing)

Was going for a regular arm grab/pull; the original result for this featured the nipple right about level with the hand, though, which prompted me to experience one of those neuron-related incidents. Slightly redrew the hand, added some tags, et voila. The downside is this has substantially deepened my titty Scarlet virus infection. Loathsome thing.
