Thread #42, and wrap party, of the HSE.

These threads were for the spinoff of the spinoff of a fan work. Possibly one of the best fanwork to ever be written.
>"With the fowl Yakumo Yukari and her cronies slain, Hana and the new world that awaits her can finally begin healing from it's biggest incident in history. We shall never forget the ones who died and gave their life to guarantee the faces of tomorrow didn't have to live theirs. We love this land, Shinki bless the Gensokyo."

This shit brings me back. I flipped through the archive's chapters after posting the last chapter there, so many fun memories. I'll miss waking up everyday and checking the project for chapters to read while eating...

blessed be, because the wolves will start to complain soon that the sheep aren't reproducing!

Keine inventing the anthrostate from first principles will always be funny.

>>50814752
She's a warlord who used desperate foreign forces, disenfranchised countrymen and literal black magic to steal ownership of Gensokyo's central fief. She's a witch who brought you with exotic but cheap youkai pussy.
>>
>>50814649
Some of the old posts from 2024 are funny just because of how bad their predictions were. Like one of the writers teasing Wriggle for a holiday special only for nobody new to come and write it.
That was really pathetic, if they wanted someone to write Wriggle they should have just done so.
Honestly i'm just happy with how vindicated I ended up being, although it's a shame the brown stain was removed it was an apt metaphor.
>>
Man I procrastinated on catching up so hard it ende- Ahaha wait it's April 1st, I see
>>
>>50814997
Anon... it's April 2...
>>
>>50814810
I recall there was one predicting the Solstice and one of the predictions was that no one important would die...
>>
>>50816654
I made one of those trying to reverse psychology the writers into putting some actual stakes into the final battle.
Luckily I succeeded. Unfortunately I fear that may have contributed to Heida doing a bunch of Fromsoft references.

Funnily enough Wriggle has half as many mentions in the archive as the blue menace due to Archiveanon's failure to totally excise her from the HSE. Her last mention was a bit after the 1 year mark before she had an offhand mention later in the work.
Still the Wirtefags shouldn't have been trying to invite more people in, the final roster was already decided by that point and anyone more would just be a return to the dark ages.

>the blue menace due to Archiveanon's failure to totally excise her from the HSE
You can't talk about Seiga like that!
>>
>>50816945
Ew, a nasty bug on the floor..
>>
>>50816945
I forgot Seiga was in the story since she and Mima ended up being such nothing characters after their author was killed in a tornado.
>>
I'm honored that AO3 waited until the HSE was finished to leave beta...

>>50817105
It's about to turn 18, it's a big site now.
>>
>>50814442
What a roster this lineup of faces ended up being, eh /jp/?
Who were some of the best and worst written in your opinion?
>>
>>50817125
Best is Reimu, worst is a triple tie between the Heida patriarch for wasting people's time, and Byakuren and Koishi for fairly self explanatory reasons.
>>
>>50817125
>Blue | My GOATS
>Green | Characters I enjoyed reading about
>Yellow | Characters I didn't care about
>Red | Bad
>Grey | irrelevant
>>
>>50817147
>Suwako and Kanako green
I can't remember what they did, care to remind me?
>>
>>50817156
The Kanako doujinshi stories were funny, I liked them during keine's revolution, Hanaanon's chapters with Hana at the shrine make me miss him, especially liked Suwako hyping Hana up, the Solstice fake shrine fight was fun, Kanako saving Hana at the end of the solstice was cool. They don't have much presence but I enjoyed the crumbs they got.
>>
>>50817173
Makes sense, their jokes are actually funny, don't come at their expense as characters, they weren't one of the sabotaged set either, and even if they don't have a lot of moments the moments they do have are good.
>>
>>50814649
The last lemonteneanon posts from the tailed of 2024, thread 34.5, are pretty funny for how everyone just makes fun of him.
Especially with how the pointless Lemonteneanon cast, Makai, Alice, and Shinki ended up being so unimportant they were killed as a throwaway joke and nothing changed. If anything the story was better for that happening.
>>
>>50818005
Killing the entirety of Makai was dumb and felt like it was just done for shock value. Ibaraki-douji killing just Alice would've accomplished the same effect.
>>
>>50818026
Nah, killing off Makai as a whole means the authors were free to safely ignore them. It also boosted the message of Lemonteneanon not being welcomed here, that and some certain other characters getting killed by Okina off screen.
>>
>>50818031
this is why I said that the people complaining about writers were more annoying than the writers themselves. You don't care about narrative quality as long as it means you can continue whining about someone.
>>
>>50818052
Makai alongside a lot of the other contributions by people other than the final three writers amount to little to nothing but distractions, Makai is one of these things and the story is worse off for its inclusions. Probably more worse off than including Lemontene because even if Lemontene was of lower quality it had a smaller effect of the project as a whole. You can tell me with a steightface that the story wouldn't be better with the removal of the red and grey list characters.
>>
HSE is the best argument against collaborative writing projects.
>>
>>50818111
Some people just shouldn't write, but at least some of the bad garbage was excised so all we can say about it is good riddance.
>>
>>50818111
It's more about having too many cooks in the kitchen. Imo Sekai written by Rananon and Patchyanon had the best storyline in the project.
>>
>>50818436
It doesn't help when some of the cooks can't even boil water and are also planning the downfall of the kitchen.
>>
>>50818052
Reminder that the chronic troll started out by claiming Hananon agreed with him about hating Cirno. When asked to back that up he couldn't find anything and quickly dropped his poor attempt at ethos. 5 posts into this thread and he's still getting things wrong that you can easily find in the archives or just know if you've been following the project.

If it were just his subjective opinions, I couldn't care less. The issue is that he's objectively wrong and continuously wrong. I don't know why I'm trying to be civil or eloquent about this. He's simply a fucking idiot.
>>
>>50818829
Hey, I was wrong that it was Hananon, it was the Fairy Wars writer. But I'm still right, the only things I go after are the things which everyone agrees only harmed the project.
And let's not pretend Hananon wouldn't agree with me, if he was still alive you know he would. Ranon probably agrees with me as well even if there are some pussy like Takanon who are too soft.
>>
>>50818118
>>50818436
Both these points just bolster mine.
>>
>>50820284
I think it's more of a 4chan problem, like Ayanon said >>48350382
None of the solutions like implementing a proper hierarchy, using a discord server, or using trips would work because they're verboten for very good reasons. At the same time other options like IRC aren't useful when nobody actually uses it and all the writers are in different timezones.
A proper hierarchy from the start would have prevented useless shitposters like the writers for the gray and red list characters from having their entries accepted in the first place as everyone would ignore them and the real committed writefags wouldn't have to take anything they've written into account or would feel like they need to.
At the same time, all the problems Ayanon listed with that would silly apply. The biggest tragedy is that bad actors were allowed to hurt the HSE in the first place, but when there's no difference between reader, writer, shitposter, and trolls.
There's no satisfying solution but Ayanon and the final three writers tried their bets and for that, I'll laude them. Although there's still some stuff I disagree with, posting more from more authors would just bring back the quality to the days of the HSE dark age when there were a dozen writefags here.
>>
So, how did this all happen again?
>>
>>50823717
god forbid a girl gets a bit silly
>>
>>50823724
she lost her head along the way tho~
>>
>>50823717
Anon broke his promise, should've expected this to happen
>>
>>50823717
It started with jokes about Reimu being an abusive drunk wife because of that one panel in Lotus Eaters where she's drunk and threatens that old guy with extermination and the generally belligerent attitude she has during incidents. It then became a story about "Anon" being in an abusive relationship with Reimu written by one guy. When that story ended, another writer made a spin-off about their daughter. That guy went on hiatus, and all of the readers got so antsy they became the writers of the HSE, and of course hanger-ons attached as well, both for good but mostly for ill.
>>
can you guys start arguing about storylines and writers and things? it's depressing seeing how little fanfare there is for the end of such a big writing project
>>
>>50827472
The last thread was perfect closure and had a lots activity. Literally everything that needed to be said was said there. It's weird why someone decided to bake another thread when even bakeanon said it wasn't necessary.
>>
>>50827488
I mean it's only fitting for the story about creating life to end on the number 42
>>
>>50827488
Speaking of numbers my favorite number coincidence of the HSE gotta be Sekai starting her plan to come alive at chapter 1000 with the patchy & meiling play war and succeeding at chapter 2000 with Yukari.
>>
>>50827472
No
>>
>>50818005
>Lemonteneanon cast, Makai, Alice, and Shinki ended up being so unimportant they were killed as a throwaway joke and nothing changed.
Well teeeeechnically, Ibaraki-Douji only gave a boastful unverified statement about destroying every last inch of Makai. This is unlike a person like Okina who directly states she's killed Cirno and Nazrin. And since the Lemontene group weren't so much as alluded to after their last post, let alone directly brought up by the narrator or any other character once, it's not out of the question for them to have actually survived Makai's genocide by camping out in Rikako's jailcell.

Funnily enough It'd actually be quite inline for them as comedic relief to have survived a massacre of such scale via sheer dumb luck, and we just don't know because nobody else in the narrative has bothered to go looking for them.
>>
>>50839713
>And then, when Ibaraki-douji came to remove the last Makaian from the world, Alice had never gotten the chance to open the book.
>Makai was gone, turned into a wasteland so desolate that not even the ghosts remained.
>It wouldn't be the same if everyone in Makai hadn't been slaughtered.
> I am the whole of every corrupt soul in Makai who lost their chance of redemption, and it's creator, who could not save even her daughter. I am the loyal Shikigami whose reward for my courage was the inevitable death at my master's whim.
I can belive they count as uncorrupted.
Actually, Cirno and Nazrin are never said they are killed my name. People only inferred as much. Cirno is only mentioned 36 tes and Nazrin 20, otherwise they just aren't in the hse.
>>
>>50839789
>first two quotes
In fairness, Patchouli didn't see any of that first hand and is just going off what she knows. If anyone did survive, or if anything in Makai was still around, she wouldn't be aware of it. Her description is just her flair for the dramatic.
>>
>>50839853
No, I agree, that was what my first statement was about, they're too retarted to count among the corrupted masses Kasen killed, and at the end of the day, anyone other than those two probably would have written them better. Let's be honest here, if anyone really wants to write a story involving those characters, then they'll create any excuse to bring them back. Despite my dislike for the fairies as a concept it's not like there's anything wrong with someone posting a non-canon epilogue where Lemontene and company survive. There's unfortunately nothing to stop anyone from writing about them after the fact, although I'd argue better characters like Mamizou are more deserving of attention.
Keep in mind I'll still call you a fag for posting fairies.
>>

BOO! LOOK AT ME, I'M A FAIRY
>>
>>50841374
Fag.
>>
I don't want to let this story go
>>
>>50853636
Nigga... it'll come back some other day. You have to let go for now.
>>
>>50853636
this happened with the KMS too
make an anniversary thread if it hasn't come back by then
>>
>>50853636
Honestly it might be time to let the entire board go.
If it's still this much of a ghost town in a few months from now, then I'm not afraid to say the HSE might be /jp/ writefriend's final swansong to the cute girls with big hats series. Obviously there'll still be some writing here and there, but in terms of something with a bigger scope then 4-5 posts I can't see anything new being made under these board conditions
Cherish this thread while you can.
>>
>>50853636
Nothing's stopping you from posting your own HSE content now that it's over.
>>
It needed more gang violence desu

>>50856430
On the night of 12/19/2043, in the outskirts of the human village, a pregnant old lady was assaulted and murdered by an alcoholic and her underaged daughter, another alcoholic but crippled, a pedophile, the head of the local monastery among many others in a terrible show of gang violence...
