I think the writing philosophy here is to be cautious with giving readers what they want, for multiple reasons. Interesting way to look at it, but Rin clearly is also the central UBW heroine. I thought the cohabitation brought them a bit closer in the Fate route in some respects, there are things about Shirou she learns much later in UBW because of that. Romance was kind of mixed, the whole Gandr segment was hilarious, and the way she dropped Shirou after he lost Saber was cold in a good way that fit her character. Some of the later confession or date scenes seemed more generic, unsatisfying but the endings made up for that imo.

og is really easy to read but is rushed, it is far better overall but the Remake is also largely incomplete (2/7 routes).
Another option is Mahoyo, it's the shortest out of the bunch and follows a simpler premise, but it depends on your tastes really, and it also depends on how good you are at reading and picking out foreshadowing and the like, mostly for Tsukiremake since OG lacks it.

In Chapter 1 of CCC, talk to Leo, borrow money from him and go and get the Old School Uniform and give it to Sakura. His servant will then kick your ass and leave you at one HP. But anyway, this unlocks the true ending, when you get to the end of the game you'll be given two choices, (obviously save before this) get the normal ending first and then get the true ending.

As for servants, it's up to you, for Extra I'd recommend Caster but Saber also works, if you're patient then I'd recommend going with Caster first and then picking Rani midgame, and in NG+ pick Saber and then Rin. CCC doesn't have such a split sadly, but either way you get two unique bosses each route by doing this (though Rani's route is just better imo), I recommend doing Taiga's quests in both runs, but if you're impatient just do it in NG+, if you do all of them you unlock a secret boss in the endgame dungeon.
For CCC, you can pick anyone you want really, personally I'd recommend Gilgamesh but again, it's up to you. Probably pick a female character if you're going for a male servant though, for Nameless (Garcher clone) you get an extra scene and for Gil... it's just better harmony imo but it doesn't REALLY matter. Female Hakuno is more popular. Hakuno Kishinami is the default name, I recommend putting it in as your name and surname, and then "Hakunon" as your nickname. You can bind R2 or whichever button you prefer to speeding up the game, helps with the grind a lot.

Normal Endings of servants are nonserious, so after getting the Normal Ending and then True Ending you can just look up the other servants' endings on youtube. It's really not worth going through NG+ in CCC, unless you REALLY like two or more servants and want to know EVERYTHING about them.

You get a Mystic Code that lets you move faster, but don't use it in NG+ as it breaks an event there.
Also yeah, the combat isn't as bad as people say, my main complaint is that by lategame and endgame it becomes pretty easy.
CCC combat is better but it's not a massive difference. However, CCC is far more fleshed out as a product in general (some say it is VN tier and has some of Nasu's best writing, it was written at the same time as Mahoyo and Tsukihime Remake so go figure), you can see Extra as the Fate route compared to UBW and HF, though Extra and CCC are day and night in comparison.

He's not long dead. This is a common misconception. No translation says this. Arcueid never even directly states that he died. She refers to him two times, in the first she says that the DA who had the ability to have more than one familiar isn't around anymore, and in the other she says there are no DAAs left in Japan.

Arcueid and Nrvnqsr fight each other during approximately a 12 hour time period between Day 2 to Day 3. This is why Shiki feels an itch in his throat after being sexually harassed by Noel on his way to school, and it is also why Nanaya notes that she was "tired, coming back from a big job" and why her death resistance stat was lowered. Either Nrvnqsr ran out of sustenance/energy and fled, or Arcueid killed him but ultimately failed to dispose of his Chaos, which is immortal. It would explain her indirect behavior, but it's one of these two. She also patches Shiki up with a piece of him.
Nrvnqsr moves on Roa's request (as opposed to Trhvmn Ortenrosse's orders in the original VN) to capture her for his ritual. In the original VN, it is merely a coincidence that they end up in the same city.
Anyway, the reason the Apoc artist also drew Nrvnqsr (embedded) is because he is present during the events of the VN, though ultimately unseen.
He will appear in Sacchin's route. It should also be noted that Nrvnqsr was not supposed to show up in the original VN, he was originally only supposed to be mentioned, and was added later, this is why he is killed in such a manner so early in the VN and why Nasu is so regretful over having to have done something like that. Vlov on the other hand, while certainly being a massive threat, is a much weaker enemy in comparison, and serves as a midboss far better while being more of a "character" with more/better motivations and a backstory compared to the original VN's Nrvnqsr.
Also the convo between him and Roa is kept with some differences so he technically is present, though not visually yeah.

Not EVERY single one. I disagree with that. Sacchin is identical, Hisui got insane favoritism from Takeuchi (+saberface harmony), Vlov, Gotou, Mio and Mario & Co are also drawn pretty well (though yes, they are new characters. But Vlov has the best sprites Takeuchi has ever made so I have hope for the new characters at least). I'd say Arcueid is a mixed bag (is DRAWN better but designwise is worse, even if I like the boots more), Akiha is more or less the same (hopefully Vermillion Akiha has her OG clothes) and Roa... you won't see the funny slicked back design again, SHIKI-Roa (OG Roa design) in the Remake will be SHIKI's design until he takes full control again and returns to his OG design (likely picrel).

Shiki only seeing Roa's dreams in Ciel's route makes sense now since he gets possessed by him far earlier.
Maids are foreshadowed properly and Kohaku is drugging Shiki as early as Day 1, whereas in the OG, since the maid routes were shoehorned into the VN later, they have no such role and Kohaku suddenly starts doing shit in Hisui's route.

Ignoring arcs route which is basically the same, Ciel's route is just not that interesting when its stretched out into a 30 hour route. CIel/noel are good characters but are not really interesting enough to carry a 30 hour route. The route is filled with un-interesting mysteries, characters like Arc and Mario who do nothing interesting the plot until the last 5 hours and the entire route feels like its padding for time. The og route is shorter and has less shit in it but is more fast paced and engaging.

Nta but if you like Tsukire more than the original then you most likely will be able to enjoy FGO too. A lot of the new elements from Tsukire (from character/weapon deseigns to bgm to art) seem to be made with FGO fans in mind. Vlov for example looks like a FGO servant. One thing I noticed playing Tsukire is Typemoon is much better at cutting corners now, they know what most of their audience will look at from their experiences working on FGO. But everything doesn't mesh together as well as their old works.
When you have scenes like Shiki thinking about how Makihisa is old fashioned and things won't work like old times anymore or how the scene where they try to lure Vlov to the park in Arc route basically says "new good old bad" and "fuck old Typemoon's rules", I can not help but thinking Nasu is trying to send a messenge here.
