Any JETfags here? Results seem to be going out this week, waiting for the consulate in New York here after Houston sent their emails out this morning. Hope anyone else here gets in!

why would you want to enter into such a horrible slavery situation

idk about OP but I think I'd personally do it because the only useful skill I have is speaking and reading japanese

Nta but isn't it the case that knowing Japanese isn't a requirement to enter this program? I've heard about many people that boast about not speaking a word of the language yet being able to live in Japan for years. Sad shit but my point is that if knowledge of the language is not required for most roles in the program, what are you planning to do with it then? Aim for some management position?

getting a job in your own country at Starbucks would be a much better life financially and emotionally, then visit Japan as a tourist and have fun having way more spending money than the locals

Why do you want to discourage someone from following their dream?

I'd rather be a slave in Japan than a king in america

ZipAir is dirt cheap, and you can stay in hostels, it wouldn't be difficult and it would cost you less per day there than feeding yourself at home

You really over estimate how much starbucks pays

I'd get two jobs then

How cheap? I found the website but I get an error every 5 seconds.

like roughly half the price of ANA for example

Taking a trip to japan for 2 weeks and consuming all the entertainment the country has to offer is like $3000 alone lmao, this wouldn't be hard to achieve in a few months in the zoomer era where everyone live with their parents because they can't even afford a home, so they get to save money easily.
So >>50832628 is right

Was JET still viable in 2016/2017? I heard it was good enough pre 2010
