Bunch of shit to unpack:
It was brought to my attention that some shit went down last weekend in this month's tourney, so I took a gander and I can see why some people had an issue with the rules in place and the organizing of the thing. So we're bringing fun and order back to this shit!!!!

First thing's first: I will be hosting May's tournament.

Massive thanks to the racists who stepped up and hosted the previous editions. I left a detailed guide with instructions in how to run this shit as smoothly as possible, so if you haven't seen it go check it out. In any case, after May's tourney I will be gone, so whoever wants to step up as host let me know so we use this whole month to iron things out for when it's your time to host.

Second:
The culture is dead and that sucks ass. But we're reviving this shit whether you like it or not lol. Starting with...

>OFFICIAL RULES
These is the set up that will be used in all tourneys. The 11th edition is the standard that should be followed.
However, since it's been rough getting even a full lobby for the editions after that one, I worked out a cool alternative for when we only have the one lobby (but it must consist of 7 players). Anything less than 7 and I suggest not holding it at all that weekend.

Tournament held in 2 phases:
Regular Season (Points-Based)
Playoffs (Elimination Format)

>STANDARD FORMAT (2 FULL LOBBIES)
REGULAR SEASON
2 lobbies (Lobby A & Lobby B)
12 races per lobby

Points awarded per race:
1st: 10 pts
2nd: 8 pts
3rd: 6 pts
4th: 4 pts
5th: 3 pts
6th: 2 pts
7th: 1 pt

QUALIFICATION
Top 4 from each lobby advance (8 total)
Seeding Advantages:
Top 2 from each lobby (A1, A2, B1, B2)
> Advance directly to Playoffs
3rd & 4th (A3, A4, B3, B4)
> Enter Wild Card Race

WILD CARD RACE
4 racers compete
Top 3 advance
1 racer eliminated

> Final Playoff Lobby = 7 players

PLAYOFFS (ELIMINATION FORMAT)
7 players total
Each race = last place is eliminated
Continue until 3 players remain
FINAL RACE
3 finalists compete
Winner = Tournament Champion

>ALTERNATIVE FORMAT (one 7 racist lobby)
REGULAR SEASON
Single lobby
12 races
Standard point system (same as above)

Step 1:
7th place is eliminated
Step 2:
1st place gets a BYE (skips first elimination race) AND gets to choose the order of the playoff races
Step 3:
2nd - 6th place race
Last place is eliminated
Step 4:
Remaining players + 1st seed compete

Continue elimination format:
Last place eliminated each race until FINAL RACE:
3 finalists compete
Winner = Tournament Champion

Now that we have official rules in place, Nabana suggested an interesting format which I thought was cool but wouldn't really be fitting to the main tourney, so we're also holding a BRAND NEW COMPETITION called...

>Triple Crown
Open lobby (any number of racists in principle, but a full lobby would be best. 5 at the minimum for legitimacy.)
Standard races, no points system
First player to win 3 races IN A ROW is immediately crowned Triple Crown Champ

>ALSO
The Triple Crown race will feature a new rule: free use/switch of characters in between races. Sane/Seija/Clown bomb galore!!!!

Tho not as prestigious as the main tourney, the Triple Crown will still be an official title worth bragging about!!!

Main Tourney = prestige and legacy. It's all about consistency, clutch and mental strength.
Triple Crown = hype and fast-paced chaos. It's all about raw dominance and momentum.

Thinking about holding this shit 2 weeks after the tourney (which is on the 1st Friday of the month). So this month's would be next weekend. Watchu think?

we've had issues getting a 7 player tournament together these last few months, sadly. the only reason it even happened last time was because we allowed Nabana to join shortly after it started. and I think one time before that, EagleR was only able to join because we waited a little bit for him. I wonder if would be prudent to start the tournaments slightly later if it means that everyone will for sure make it?

Basically 2 groups (at least 10 racists so they're divided evenly, ideally 2 full lobbies), top 2 of each group advance into playoffs, #3 and #4 placed in each group duke it out in a wild card race to determine who's out and bam, we have a final 7 playoff lobby.

That's a good point you raise, so as we did in the 11th edition, kickoff time will be 9pm EST sharp.
Lobby/ies will always need be open at least some 40 minutes before that.
Kickoff time will kinda suck for euro frens but if it's one night a month they can manage

Other minute details I forgot to go over:
For the triple crown, tracks will be completely randomized. That means no set track order, unlike tourneys.
SHINTEN tracks could also be fair game, but that will have to be decided the week of the event.

A couple weeks ago I made a 4-day pilgrimage to Lake Suwa and all it's four taisha (grand shrines). For the sake of this adventure, I was set on getting myself either a 1.5 Suwako fumo, or a Sanny. Getting either of those was an adventure of its own, and I ended up having to go to a tiny town called Yaita one day in another prefecture altogether to eventually get myself a v1 Sanae, which I love so very much.
I've talked about this adventure a bit on the fumo thread, but I wanted to share some cool pics of said adventure with you faggots because it was a very cool and meaningful experience, and I know you especially are very fond of the Moriya gang.
Here's Sanny looking at the sunset over lake Suwa. I will proceed to make a mini dump of pics.

These little rubber figurines are sold at Daiso, which is funnily unexpected to see them carry any Touhou merch at all, but it's a very cool thing.
Recently they released the latest versions of these, and in them there were the Moriya clan. One day, previous to even going to Suwa but after having gotten my Sanae, I was hunting again for either a Sanny, Suwacky, or at least Kanako so I could be thematically prepared for the upcoming trip. I checked the biggest Daiso in the country to no avail (they only had the previous version of these which included Reisen, Ran, etc), all the way in Chiba. So after learning I could check availability on their app (to which I had to change my location to JP on google play which was a pain in the ass for some reason), I discovered that another smaller Daiso carried this new version and it was only a couple stations away.
Long story short: I get there, locate them, pick 3 of them randomly, check out, move over to the side so I open the little box and see what I got in case I had to go over and buy some more in case I didn't get any. Crack the first box open. Kanako-sama. Second box: Sanae. Third: Suwako. I took this as a sign.

Learned it on my own by basically gathering a bunch of resources (textbooks, anki decks, playlists, etc). Took the JLPT to test myself and passed the N3 and my current level's probably in between 2 and 1.
Developing my speaking was a bitch because tfw no one to speak to back then, but moving here has taken care of that and I've progressed more in a couple months living in the country than repeating phrases out loud for two years on my own. If only I could get better at this fucking game as quickly!!!!!

I don't know if you guy have ever heard about MYUKKE but he's an awesome artist and many of his tunes were featured in the 11th edition stream. I sent the guy an email asking him if it was okay to keep featuring his music in the tournament stream and he was totally cool with it, and said he might even come check it out
I also asked him if he was open on doing commissions for personal use so that we could have our own very tourney intro and outro tunes, but said he wasn't doing any requests atm (plus they go for like 200 bucks which is reasonable to be fair)

Also good point you raise about this shit potentially becoming a marathon, which is also part of the appeal since it could only last 3 races or go on for 5 hours. Hence why, for legitimacy reasons, I propose the following:

At least 5 racists in the lobby at all times for the duration of the event
If no winner's been crowned within an hour of kickoff, it's perfectly fine to quit (keeping the minimum of 5 players rule for it to count)
If there's 4 or less players in the lobby after the 1 hour mark, nobody wins and everyone can try again in next month's TC. This makes it winning it all the more special and rare since there can potentially be no TC champs ever lmao.
