I want to move, either long-term temp stay or lawful permanent resident.

>from US
>have my passport
>$20k+ in savings
>no criminal record
>SSDI recipient, on the spectrum, $1600k/mo
>4 year arts degree
>primarily English speaker, scored N5 on JLPT after 3 months of online classes

I saw that the relative cost of living in Japan is much cheaper than in USA with a similar standard of living, too.

I didn't consider this seriously until I found that I can keep collecting NEETbux while living there.

Any advice /jp/? Visa options? Ideal cities to move to?

Leeches aren't needed or wanted, stay in your warmongering society until you coming to Japan will be a positive for the society

I don't mean to be rude, but Japanese society does not want people like you. You take more than you're capable of giving.
>>

nigger what are you going to do in japan that you can't do in the US? sit in your house and watch/jerk off to anime? why can't you do that in america

You aren't going to seduce a Japanese woman being a broke NEET. you aren't going to live whatever anime fantasy HS or college life as an adult. what is the point.

I studied there in college, and while it was cool for a min, as somebody with no money, no job, no friends and minimal Japanese skills, you just get to live somewhere where nobody understands what the fuck you are saying, they will be casually racist to you, and everybody uses paper documents and a fax machine like a fucking caveman. Sound like fun?

>leech
I did graphic design work for about 6 years before having to concede to my limitations. It's not that I'm without marketable skills. I still do some work on the side when I'm able, but in terms of consistency when measured against others, esp. in the current American job market, I had no choice. It was either this, or die on the street with my pride.
>warmonger society
Why do you think people want to leave? I didn't consent to what the US government continues to do. Their want to reshape civic life into something that won't work and I don't want to be here when it collapses.

I see.
Would it matter if I at least learned the language and kept to myself?

You're still not contributing to society or the country. You'd be a financial burden.

This is why they will be the only society tro survive

I was engaging with you from the 'moral' perspective of being dead weight, not financially burdensome.

How would a foreigner, with their own savings and a steady source of income that they seek to spend on housing, taxes, food, entertainment, etc. be burdensome to JP society?
>>
>>50853091
if your main motivation for moving is to take your govt NEETBucks and use them somewhere cheaper (I think you're a fucking leech ftr as a US taxpayer, but w/e), you're way better off going to the Philippines where the dollars will go farther, people will actually speak English, and you have a better chance of having a gf there
>>

>a steady source of income that they seek to spend on housing
Where is this source of income coming from, though? A 4 year artist degree? I'm not buying it.
>>
>>50853171

his steady source of income is his disability NEETBucks from the US taxpayer, he said it already
>>
>>50853171
I should have said アパート, my apologies.

idk if you're 日本人 but in America you can expect to pay close to $1100/mo for a decent apartment in a liveable city. I saw apartments that were close to $500/mo that would go for quadruple that if situated overseas.
that's hell.

Unless you plan to do the investor visa nothing will get you in with what you said. SSDI is a huge nono.

totally viable, safer if you do the english teaching route
t. japanese school student living in the heart of shinjuku, ask me anything
>>
>>50850567
you're not getting any long term visa except student visa for like a year or two. Also, you will be a forever outsider (or 2nd class citizen) like this anon is saying >>50853089 and you cant do anything about it unless you're fine being treated with passive aggressive racism
>>
>>50857210
What is the barrier of entry? Do you need to know the basics of the language, or are there courses for complete rookies/weebs?
>>
>>50858029
barrier of entry is pretty low to be honest, they say they have tests, have higher chance having N5 and shiet, but honestly I've seen people who had no fucking idea what even a hiragana is

that being said, if you go the language school route, or aim for a proper job or other school that is outside the realm of english teaching, you'd better study and practice a lot, N4 but even more importantly practice every day to day conversations

OP here
I've been talking with some immigration professionals who've said similar things. It's apparently not uncommon for pensioners/retirees to be granted long-term stay or 2-year tourist visas.

I was also told that foreigners who are proficient in Japanese are treated more favorably by immigration officials. It was suggested to me that I achieve N3 or higher, both because it'll make living there easier and it opens up more employment possibilities if I can pursue that route. I was also told that Japan has a few industries struggling with labor shortages, but I'm unsure if any of that would apply to me. Japan has enough artists.

I read that this is mostly on where you are. It would make sense that cities with lots of foreign residents and popular tourist destinations would have less of that. But I've also seen many conflicting accounts, mainly about severity and scope. An example being businesses that openly discriminate against non-Japanese, even with signs that say "外人を居ません", only to be found serving foreigners who talk to them in Japanese and are polite.
My biggest fear is being priced out of an apartment just because I'm a foreigner.

Another one of _these_ people /facepalm

>>what are you going to do in japan that you can't do in the US? sit in your house and watch/jerk off to anime? why can't you do that in America

Listen to this guy. This is basically the cold hard truth. Japan isn't some anime fantasy land. You and all the zoomers who are going there need to get this in your heads. Japan is not Disneyland.

>SSDI recipient, on the spectrum
The last thing people in Japan want is an autistic American on welfare. At least you won't break stuff like the jeets and camel jockies though.

>4 year arts degree
That's doing nothing for you right now so what do you think it's going to do for you there? You really think they want a autistic art major from America? In case you need a dose of reality Japan hires Japanese people for jobs first, especially ones that need degree. You'll be lucky to get on as an ESL assistant.

>scored N5 on JLPT
N5 is the very bottom and barely at a level to understand basic Japanese. An elementary school student is more fluent in the language then you are and you want to move there with a worthless degree and SSDI income?

>> the relative cost of living in Japan is much cheaper than in USA
Maybe if you go live in Iiwake but the people in rural Japan don't want you. People in Roppongi probably don't even want you either unless you're buying drinks, but you're autistic so you're going to socalize just want to jerk off to anime or think JP women are submissive and they'll all fawn over you.

>> I can keep collecting NEETbux while living there

This right here says everything about you. Japan doesn't want or need people like you and it won't take long for them to turn on you and make you miserable. If you even get past immigration. They'll see you as a financial burden with no sponsor and deny you any kind of long term visa.

>> I didn't consent to what the US government continues to do.
And you think your 'consent' matter more as a gaijin living off "NEETBux" in Japan? ROFL wow.

Here's some helpful advice. Take your savings and move to the Midwest. You'll have a much better life and quality of living than what ever fantasy you think you'll get in Japan.

>It's apparently not uncommon for pensioners/retirees to be granted long-term stay or 2-year tourist visas.
OP I work/live off and on in Japan.

They aren't lying but generally these people are utilizing a Working Holiday Visa(not available to the USA), work/study, or finishing a college degree at some bullshit place like temple. Overrides for people who have no interests or influence to generate revenue or paint Japan in a good lite to a large audience like PDP ain't getting shit.

You get 2x90 day visa stays per 365 days in Japan, do like most digital nomads do. Pick 2 seasons in Japan you like and do some short-mid term rental on Airbnb to even see if you like it. Then fly over to Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, etc for the other 185 days, rinse and repeat. Flights around asia even with oil aren't bad. We are talking ~300 ronud trip every 3 months. You can often find places for 1month all utilities included for 800 in Tokyo or ~500-600 Osaka(look by tennoji station). Believe me I know people in better positions than what you listed who after 3-4 months in Japan fucking hated it, got depressed, and moved back home ASAP.

20K is almost enough for an investor visa, but you need a solid game plan to employ some Japanese and pay them. Still you could buy one of those run down houses, fix it up a bit, but I would STRONGLY suggest maxing out you visa free limitations first to see if you can deal with at the minimum, the weather/seasons. Always love meeting with JP'ers and anons I met at winter comiket who love it, come back in for summer and kneel over after a week of 98F+95% humidity.

If you are at reitaisai look for an american cirno cosplayer happy to help. Your plan is doable, I think you should just take it a bit slower than putting all your eggs in one basket and moving before visa maxxing.

>My biggest fear is being priced out of an apartment just because I'm a foreigner.
Use gaijinpot, or specifically use Airbnb(it's only banned parts of the year in Kyoto and a few other small places) hosts aren't allowed to book someone more than 180 days per year unless it is being used for a Hotel ad.

I strongly suggest using Gaijinpot/Airbnb vs others, yes it's good you can get deals knowing japanese and taking chances for short term leasing and save some cash here and there. AIrbnb, at least has your back on a few things+you don't have to try and waste time with utilities, and know what you're walking into with the reviews of others. Picrel is a full apartment in Osaka, you can go cheaper for sure I saw as low as 400(would not do hotel toyo for a month). You're not going to get rock bottom prices until you know the area and can ask around on where to look.

Most people don't care about being a foreigner as long as you at least "try" to follow the rules and show you mean good intentions. AKA don't be johnny somali. Sure some are going to hate you I've had some dude bang on my door drunk telling me how whitu piggu ruining japan!!!1 Then again I've seen all the retarded shit japanese do regularly on a daily basis and guess what? Sun still comes up tomorrow no one cares.
