1M to DR
I just wanted my chill bi-weekly clear but I'll take it. Was hoping for an LNN there but DR is DR, I haven't practiced it in a long time so I was doing it in a weird way.

I'm pretty close to 1cc'ing MoF, I just gotta practice Aya's spell cards so she doesn't drain all of my lives before the last two stages.
>>
how the fuck do you 1cc touhou 1 on normal i think i've died more times by that fucking ball then actually getting hit by the bullets
>>
>>50988325
You'll get used to it, it takes a while.
One thing that I can recommend is using the gohei attack (x) more than the ofuda one against the yin yang ball.

I just impregnated Suwako and did it again on the runback because I forgot to save the replay the first time.
Suwako's definitely the most fun extra boss I've fought so far desu and Marisa C is really fun when you're replaying the stage a bunch because there's a lot of neat tricks you can do. I spent most of the stage hugging the top for points with the frost shooters positioned to farm the enemies. The two revives from farming points carried me because I always end up having to bomb spam through her timeout attacks and I refuse to actually learn how to dodge jellybeans. The ring spellcard is probably my favorite because there's a lot of large movements and forward planning to avoid getting walled in.
I mostly wanted to beat her because I was playing fantasy maiden wars and she was really sexy in it. If she were a stage 1 boss it wouldn't have taken as long.

Good tip
Go for Jigoku/hell (depending on the translation) route before even attempting makai route.
>>
>>50991185
thanks for the warning, i always went makai because i assumed hell would be harder
>>
>>50988325
Have a few tips from someone who's beaten both routes on lunatic, if you want.

>>50991315
>i assumed hell would be harder
Yeah, that's a mistake pretty much everyone makes on their first run.

>>50988895
According to iqdb, that's the original size.
>>
>>50992103
thanks a lot, this'll definitely be useful
>>
hard or extra first?
>>
>>50995810
Depends on the game.
But in general I'd say they're about even in terms of difficulty.
Though lot of EXs have pretty bullshit stages so hard might be slightly better.
Honestly just try them and see which feels more manageable.

finally got my first 1cc, and just a few days ago i was thinking i would never be able to do it
>>
>>50995810
Extra tends to be easier than Hard in most cases.
>>
>>50988895
You can recreate it yourself to some extent. If the tabber doesn't work then View history and pick one which works

Personally would suggest Normal then Extra then Hard.
Extra is approximately Hard difficulty or slightly below it in most cases, but it's only a single stage and boss. On the other hand, Hard means playing the original six stages and bosses but at a higher difficulty.
I found doing the Extra clears back-to-back really helped with preparing me to take on the Hard clears.

I have been lurking for a while and why do I never see th20 in 1cc charts like >>50998133 ?
It is the only one I haven't played
>>
>>51000874
the tracker i use just hasn't been updated in years, but there's a fork that i found that adds FW
https://drneotech.github.io/1ccTracker/
i've seen another anon with a similar chart, but with some additions such as fangames. no clue about that

The thing about FW is that since you've technically got 8x8x8x8=4096 different combinations for each of the two characters, a "proper" chart needs 8192 columns to cover them all. That means it's up to the player to choose what the chart should be about.
The FW chart at >>51001255 only cares about the main stone, which is fair, but mine goes a little further and only cares about the stories, similarly to the UM chart which only has one column per character despite the ability cards providing thousands of different "shot types". The columns are combined for each of the four color pairs, and split back for the extra stages.

as i was saying
>>
>>51001442
Be the change then, anon, feel free to post yours.
Although do consider that the point of a chart isn't showing off but just tracking your own progress, so it's normal for people who can't beat everything to make them and post them. They serve to inspire people on a similar skill level and sometimes as a conversation starter.
>>
>>51001454
i know and i don't care was just pointing out what i noticed
>>
>>51001494
That's fine then, although your definition of "good" as "top 1% of players" sounds a bit skewed.
>>
>>51001429
should be grateful anyone even touches the games these days
>>
>>51001538
you speak like it's an online game
>>
>>51001543
i speak like it's a game that if 1000 play it across all 20 mainline games i would be surprised. so to expect the 'good' players from that pool to somehow materialize in this thread is a big ask.
>>
>>51001601
there are good players here i was just talking about every chart i've seen
>>
I used to have a chart but I got burned out and quit playing the games because I was forcing myself to lunatic 1cc with every shot. somehow I went through HSiFS but I almost fell asleep playing UDoALG
>>
>>51001635
That sounds rough. Sometimes it's better to take a step back and play something easier but challenging enough for it to be fun. After all, fun is the only point in playing these games.

allshotting is very fun if you like the game but all it takes is just one that you don't enjoy to burn you out
i personally hated doing it in SA
>>
>>51001639
>Sometimes it's better to take a step back and play something easier but challenging enough for it to be fun.
the problem for me is that the games were too easy since I was pretty much getting it on my first try. I got every hard shot cleared except PoDD since I was playing in order
it doesnt help that I was really excited for a new phantasmagoria game only it to be shit
>>
>>51001649
Yeah, UDoALG was a pretty big letdown for me too as a vs game lover.
That aside, have you tried something in between hard and lunatic, like hard NB? It might be the spark you need to find the games fun again.
>>
>>51001649
sounds like you were overdue to start doing no bombs instead
comsider it when you come back because it's the most fair and fun touhou gets imo
>>
>>51001651
>That aside, have you tried something in between hard and lunatic, like hard NB?
no, but I do have several LNB. I think I was going for all window games until I lost interest with LoLK
>It might be the spark you need to find the games fun again.
I do find the games fun again actually. the spark was watching SOC playing touhou 20 in front of ZUN

https://www.youtube.com/live/JL0588NECCQ
>>
>>51001675
oh ya i'm in the same boat actually
after you get to LNB level playing the games normally is a bore because you just steamroll through and feel nothing
>>
>>51001675
One thing that I would recommend is try playing some other shmups.
At least that helped me reignite the spark.
>>
>>51001640
DDC did it for me
Some of those shots are godawful
>>
>>51001688
this is when you take the scoring pill
>>
do bosses get better in DDC? i wasn't a fan of the spell cards in TD
>>
>>51001675
that was a fun watch. why western touhou events have to be so cringe and with dreadful commentary depresses me.

I'm not aware of anyone making a pure template, but you can easily copy and restructure HSiFS's chart into a FW one, if you're going for clears with all main stones that is. That's what I did with mine.
>>
>>51002322
Not much but they do.

>>51002322

>>
am i blind or does the 16bit / 32bit graphic option on eosd do absolutely nothing
>>

iirc this is because windows doesn't support 16 bit color anymore
>>
>>51005150
ok, glad i'm not going crazy.
>>
>>50988895
Had a lot of spare time so I made one out of the links in >>50997680. I kinda want to do similar ones for the other games.
Lossless PNG version: https://files.catbox.moe/9eipfn.png
>>
>>51011203
Thanks anon. I'm a bit surprised by how little difference there is between the jpg and png versions. It's kinda visible on some of the spells, for example around the red bullets in kogasa's final, but you have to squint to notice it.
>>
>>51011203
Also I've got a python script which can make the task easier for you if you want to make similar pics. It takes a list of filenames and then you double click on it to generate the pic automatically.
I've made it mainly for the chart at >>50991664 but it can be used for any kinds of collages, with or without borders, by changing a couple settings.
Let me know if you're interested.

TY anon, you are amazing!
>>
TD miko's final spellcard is so lame, but i suppose it goes with her power.
>>
>>51017618
Yeah, it really is quite anticlimatic for a final spell (one that's not even supposed to be a cool-down spell like shinki's)
>>
Official 2hu games are on 30% off for Steam's bulletfest. I've never seen them get a discount before, so maybe it's a good time to grab some of them to tip ZUN.
>>
>>51018837
They were on discount last year, must have been in August. That's when I purchased PoFV, HSiFS and Double Spoiler.
