>>50989536 >What are you playing? i'll start D next week >What are you looking forward to? kanon/air, i wanna jop a proper maedasloppa >What have you finished? shite album 1 and chapter 1 of sakura taisen
im using XUnity.AutoTranslator-BepInEx to help my cousin, who doesnt know english, play unity games ...or at least thats the plan. our native languege is hebrew and the translator reverse the order of the letters. is there to reverse them again/ prevent the reverse from happening in the first place?
>>50990111 Kinda boring so far. I'm already in Towa's route so I'll at least finish that but if I'm not impressed I'll just read Nagi and Hagumi's and call it a wrap.
>>50992797 The main heroine is a shit and shits up the other routes if you pick the other girls. Theres an enforced play order that requires you to do her route first as well but in the HD remaster it removes that so you can pick whichever.
Recently read 流る星 -a wish star- As only a 4-ish hour game, it's short and sweet. I mostly played for the nee-chan support character. Pretty cute, it feels reminiscent of oldschool magical 'sudden girlfriend appearance' short series. The afterstory is basically there to fit all of the porn in. The even shorter fandisc supplies additional fluffy scenarios and porn, as expected, but I mostly skimmed it to unlock the bonus chapter where the nee-chan porn is. Nothing groundbreaking, but overall a cute and quick read.
>>50993076 7 years ago I would say it's ugly, but nowadays i appreciate unique artstyles much more so it's fine. For visual novels expresiveness is more important than conventional beauty too imo
>>50989536 Has anyone read asairo? Does it get better? I'm enjoying it but I feel like I'm not quite at the "exciting" part yet, and I feel like there is one coming up, but I just wanted some reassurance. I'm probably 5 hours in right now? And VNDB says it's on 30 hours long, so 1/6 of the way through I expected at least one climax or big development.
>>50989720 Also it's so surprising that a 10 year old game is random newly in the top 10 or at least i don't remember it. hasn't the vndb rankings changed a lot lately? i even remember some monster girls rpg game at #1 recently
>>50993038 >So Kana is just going to keep suffering until the curses run out? No, the curse is supposed to make Misuzu miserable her whole life but she breaks it by finding her own happiness. Then Yukito bring that happiness (probably in the form of a feather like the ones in other routes) to Kanna in the sky now that he has his own wings. Misuzu and Yukito don't get a perfect happy ending for themselves but they free every generations after from the curse. >>50995864 Keep reading, you are still in the introduction part.

I love Yanagi Hitomi, but I feel like she's horribly miscast as Towa in Relirium. She's much more suited for cheerful roles like Hiyori and Kurumi. I'm really liking Itou Shizuka as Nagi though, reminds me a lot of Hime from Tenshin Ranman.
>>50996386 She's got better range than most roles require from her (best example is kakehana's Nadeshiko, but only rarely,) but I mostly agree. When Towa gets flustered, all I can hear is Hiyori.
>>50996204 Insane it managed to stay at 90 with all the butthurt people voting lower than they normally would just because they are mad it's a better eroge than their favorite kamige. It was that good huh
Any other eroge that revolve around or have some focus on eroge development? ウチはもう、延期できない。 えろげー!~Hもゲームも開発三昧~ I know of these two and I'm curious if there're more.
>>50996204 >90 It is really that good or is this a case of EGS scores going to shit? I haven't read anything new this year since nothing caught my attention, except that score right now, can some anon here recommend it?
You goys have it too easy with Shinku. I remember downloading A-S uploads from DepositFiles or WUpload or FileServe or some shit like that with 8 parts, 150kb/s limits and 2 hours wait between downloads.
>>50996281 >>50995986 It does seem to be a bit overhyped as I got to the "nani? What's going on" moment and kept going a bit and the writing of the drama and the usage of the "big picture concept" doesn't seem interesting so far. I must be at least 10 hours (25-30%) done by now. Might drop soon.
>>50998408 I'm not replying to you in particular or anything but for some reason the title of the VN and also the name of the author always had a bit of a mystical, special feeling to them, and I've been drawn to both for years, and now that I'm finally trying it, it's surprisingly unique. But I've been dropping a lot of fiction lately, I usually just try to dip my toes into a medium to get a rough idea, don't take it too seriously
>>50998431 The atmosphere and level of autism in the normal conversations honestly were enough to get me hooked fairly quickly. Beyond that, there are a lot of individual parts of the second chapter were very memorable and I have fond memories of almost not finishing a paper I had due because I lost track of time going from the end of the second chapter to the end of the game. I'll admit that the pacing and autism can be a lot if the average scene that doesn't directly focus on plot stuff doesn't speak to you though. I'm pretty sure the game bores most people out of their minds.
any good long vns with average jp difficulty that DON'T rely on cinematic bullshit, aka where the pacing doesn't really matter? i was thinking shigatsu youka
>>50998440 The autism was quite nice yeah. I wouldn't say the atmosphere was mindblowing, a VN with great atmosphere for me was WA2, e.g. the ambient sound in there was so good. I personally didn't find the plot stuff so far (just got to where hiyo manages to talk back to the younger twin for once) to be interesting. (I read a bit more - Like picrel for example I just stared and went "...". I'm all for "HOW DARE YOU....!" moments but the writing or the character work is a bit hard to take seriously and I'm usually the one on the side that's saying "learn to suspension of disbelief") I'm not trying to argue with you or badmouth the work, just sharing my thoughts unbiddenly. >>50999191 Is this kind of attitude common in this general? There seems to be a lot of people who have bee hurt so they just try to hurt others and then everyone gets defensive too, it's the worst of both worlds, everyone's on the attack as well
>>50998440 Yeah, it's really kino, but like the rest of the more dramatic moments I can't help but feel like it's "off", like the individual puzzle pieces are cool but they don't click together too well. I mean, we suddenly are getting chuunige writing out of nowhere (I'm joking a bit) but still.
>>50998440 damn i kept reading and i'm finding it really hard to drop now. it definitely got better and better. like, more stimulating for sure. not like it was boring before this either, it was fun from the start, but i'm just pretty surprised man.
>>50996535 Why do these retards keep hiring random ass dev companies that fuck them in the ass and doom the entire project? It can't be that fucking hard to make a VN, 4chan did it 14 years ago
>>50998215 That was me 20 years ago downloading games with 20 parts or more, 100mb each part, on rapidshare, and waiting 60min after each download, and those fucking cat captchas meant i had to do it manually.
I remember I used to collect eroge CG sets long ago because I wasn't able to play them myself. Feeling kinda nostalgic for my collection I no longer have. I don't even remember where I downloaded them at the time, because they were DDLs but I know it wasn't A-S.
a slave training game where the girl travel back in time after you made her into an obedient slave in order to help you not an original idea i read a story of it on syosetu
Finished Suisen route in Totsuraba and liked it. I just started Katan route though and as someone who likes slowburn romantic development I got whiplash as soon as I picked the choice for getting onto Katan's route. Sure Katan already had an obvious crush so that part's fine, but Enju's thought process felt too sudden. I really hope it doesn't keep up this pace and this instant focus on couples.
>>51005678 it didn't really feel fast at all, he's been watching dramas and tv shows with her in her room daily and it isn't particularly hard to hit it off as teenagers
>>51005739 >he's been watching dramas and tv shows with her in her room daily This getting mentioned felt sudden too, because in common route it felt like he only visited her apartment like once or twice to exchange dinners. It mainly feels sudden that for the common route branching choice the vague love related choice somehow has him instantly focused on romance with Katan, despite his "crush" being on Sakura.
>>51005830 Yeah they could have at least mentioned it happening. MC's motivations are all over the place, weakest part of the game imo - makes no sense for him to suddenly realize things in Sui's route either when he already knew his family is bonkers.
>>51006450 I think of Doc Brown Superior time traveler really; made time machine from scratch with nothing but a dog, i don't think Marty helped much since he didn't know about it at all. Come to think of it he also did Okabe's whole thing of tricking the past long before Okabe did.
Smarter about time travel too, though now I'm wondering if a teenage Doc Brown would have been much less reserved about altering the timeline. Probably not. i should finish the back to the future telltale game. It wasn't bad, at least the little of it I had played long ago.
>>51006450 Most people don't realize this, but the "Steins" in the title of "Steins;Gate" is actually the name of the scientist, not the gate. The gate's name is Adam.
>>51006984 Reminds me of the time I played Shadow Hearts 1 and Sakuro no Kumo around the same time. Two works that take place around the same time period.
>>51006782 Harukaze got bought by the company that made Marco and are now dead. Hato is back to making doujin slop with AI art and only sold at comiket.
>>51005702 Swapping to Sophia route instead of taking a break was the right move. I'm enjoying the route so far, and now I can keep up the momentum to keep playing.
Also, after finishing my first route now the main menu song makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. The unlockable menu backgrounds are a nice touch too. Sui one is super cute.
>>51006782 Harukaze is one of those companies that is clearly dead despite there being no official announcement of its death. Like Ricotta, Tonework's, Inre, Light, and Qruppo.
Can't fucking wait. Did we know the remake was going to be voiced or who the VAs are? I assume they're nobodies since that's presumably all new++ could afford.
Is there a place I can find Muramasa: Janen Hen? vndb.org/v4707 I'm not particularly well versed in this, but can it's not on nyaa, pirate bay or popular trackers at least
I'm studying Japanese so I can play video games and read visual novels with their original scripts. I see people online recommend two different methods of language practice. One is to read text slowly, translating words you don't know, and making them into flashcards for later use. The other method is to maximize input by reading a large quantity of words, without worrying if you understand each one or not. There's some anons here that learned Japanese at some point, right? What would you recommend?
>>51010086 Definitely the first method. How is one even supposed to read Japanese without learning the words? Not everything is written in Kana. It's unlike other languages, where you can at least read the word, even if you don't understand its meaning.
>>51010086 I started off reading text slowly, looking up basically every word I didn't know, and adding them to my custom Anki deck. Encountering the same words you've studied and being able to recognize them is rewarding. Also you want to have studied basic grammar already of course. Now that I've been reading in JP for years, if I encounter an unfamiliar world but get the gist of it through context, then I just take a screenshot and continue reading. I might choose to go back to the screenshots later to add to my deck. If the unfamiliar word hinders my understanding of what's going on though, then I'll stop and look it up.
>>51010086 I'm of the opinion that when you're starting out, you should be spending 100% of your prime studying time on reading VNs. Flashcards can be helpful, especially if you put something like Anki on your phone and do reps while on the toilet/waiting for the bus/etc. etc. But your dedicated study time each day should be dedicated purely to reading. Nothing will make you better at reading Japanese text than reading Japanese text. Everything else is just extra. I wouldn't even stop to make a flash card; a standard Anki deck should be almost as good as one you make yourself.
The second method you mention, where you just read and don't necessarily look up every single word, is completely fine, but to be able to do it at all, you already need to be very literate in Japanese. By the point you're even able to consider it, you'll have been reading for a very long time, and you can compare it to the normal method (looking up every unknown word in an electronic dictionary) for yourself and see if you like it better. I used a mixture of both and enjoyed great success with both methods.
>>51010987 You would be surprised how garbage the average japanese is at reading https://streamable.com/1l1om0 My mom never believed me when i say i can read japanese better than the average japanese.
>>51010987 One time when I was reading really, really late at night and I was really, really tired, I put 一人 into a dictionary. I have never made fun of a person's dictionary usage since.
>>51011319 They shouldn't make fun of her failing to read the made up words because you can never be sure if you are reading them right unless you hear someone else(just like english) Now, failing to read 猛き is something else
>>51011698 I did it a few years ago and the only thing it did was make me never mix up kanji that look similar. Massive waste of time imo, but it'd help her there
>>51012058 Koikari would probably be a good entrypoint. Futakoi if you want something slightly more serious or Koibana for the bros if you can handle them having their own love interests.
>>51012100 >Koibana for the bros if you can handle them having their own love interests. Side characters having some personality and life outside the route sounds fun. Thanks anon
I finished Nandomeka recently and that may have been the first time I felt like an eroge suffered from the ero. Some of the scenes were plenty hot, and the ones at the heroine's house were fine, but some other ones were downright retarded like the snake one and kinda took me out of it when I was otherwise actually pretty invested in the mystery storyline. Also those tits were grotesque.
>>51014135 Sounds like a you problem. I thought it was fine and also everyone overblows that scene, it's really not anything crazy I just have to assume everyone who makes a big deal out of it has never read anything but 100% vanilla in their life.
>>51014140 When a large aspect of the game's story (which was written with the intent to be taken seriously and invested in) involves questions of what magic is and isn't possible within the setting, that scene just felt like a retarded departure.
>>51014182 To me I got the feeling that it was quite powerful but the stronger the magic the more dangerous/"resources" were required. I think it might have even been stated in the text.
>>51014135 Meanwhile despite me liking purplesoft games some anon ruined that game for me after he said the heroine looks like hotaru in hog mode so now i can't unsee it :(
>>51014676 She's 109 cm, so slightly below most milk factory heroines. Admittedly the actual sizes in cm a heroine has are meaningless, I'm sure somebody could do an actual analysis of the drawing to figure it out based on relative proportions.
>>51015318 I'm reminded of Niko Tinbergen's experiments with butterflies, where he showed that male grayling butterflies were more attracted to drawings of female graylings the larger they were, even as the sizes got comically, unrealistically large.
>>51015318 Porn addiction, unironically, the same reason why people start with small drugs like marijuana or ecstasy, and when they get bored but want more they transition to cocaine and heroine, same principle here.
>>51016807 I think it's good as a learner to try lots of different things and experience the language in lots of varied ways. But out of all the many methods I tried, I found voiced visual novels to be the most efficient by far, and if you want to learn Japanese as fast and easily as possible, I'd recommend spending a lot of time reading them, trying to understand each line as best as you can.
>>51016807 If you want to get better at reading Japanese, you gotta practice by reading lots of Japanese. VNs give you large amounts of pretty much uninterrupted sentences to read, with lots of the sentences voiced to read alongside.
Finished Sophia route in TotsuRaba. I liked it more than I expected, still stayed entertaining and I wasn't expecting it to dive into other parts of the story as much as it did. Although it had a pretty underwhelming ending. Maybe I set my expectations too high because of how satisfied I was with Suisen ending. Reading Katan route and holy fuck the pacing of this romance is still giving me fucking whiplash, especially after Sophia route. The bodyswap arc was a lot of fun at least. I'll look forward to the parts of Katan's route that aren't romance.
>>51017193 To clarify I'm not complaining about the pace of the romance in Sophia route, that was fine. It just makes Katan's feel even more sudden in comparison.
>>51018165 I actually appreciated the slow buildup in Sophia's route. MC still interacts with and appreciates the other characters he cares about. It also depicts him being a good big brother for example when he says his little sister will still always be a priority, and Sophia understands since after all she has younger siblings too. Meanwhile MC walks into Katan route already ready to fall for her, and when he declares her to be the one person he'd do anything to protect it felt strange for him as a character. Or supposedly how bad of a path he would've taken if he hadn't met Katan. For a route that has such solid plot, it stands out even more that the MC and heroine of the route are handled so poorly in it.
>>51018421 Spending thousands of years away was a bit much, to come back minimally changed and still remembering the cast imo. Not to mention returning with a press-to-win button.
>>51018506 They were only conscious for about a hundred of those years, they spent the vast majority of the time inside of the universe transmuted into platinum
I forget, at the end of Katan's route did they mention what state Sakura is left in after having her heart stolen? Since in the other route she falls into a coma until it's returned because her b.e.g. puts too much strain on her without it.
>>51018444 What I meant to say was that Katan was such a warm character that interacting with her changing MC's life and outlook was somewhat believable. And Sophia just had the constant "wow she's so ojou so amazing wow".
>>51018325 its a shame Sophia's siblings weren't used at all and Mio didn't get much screentime either despite being so important/everyone got offscreened as in other routes despite this one being about friendship
