>liver disease.
Very sad. Nishimura drinks a lot, guess it caught up to him. We lost one of the most unique splatter artists in cinema.

sad to see but if you look at his teeth it's smoking, a good beer or two and probably a few missed brushings every week
damn, he's even got those silver amalgamation fillings all along the bottom row and they're known to expand and contain mercury. dude was living like there was no tomorrow
take care of yourselves anons

Zoomers can fuck a hat.
Jokes aside, I'm surprised Matsumoto is ranked that highly by them. Guess it's the male zoomers category, can't possibly be the same for females.

That dude has been making rounds meeting with my favorite Japanese celebs. First Miike Takashi, then Yoko Taro, then SUDA51 and now Kitano Takeshi.
I expect him to post a pic with Oshii Mamoru next. Maybe he'll go visit Antonio Inoki's grave, too.

Who is he? I saw a photo of him with the anime director Umetsu Yasuomi the other day and /a/ were going nuts over it

He'd have made the Kojima photo-op if Kojima wasn't in NYC right now.

no computer guy here. i sat myself down last night to see if there was anything i wanted to watch and i couldn't really come up with anything. i either already have it from avistaz, i already ripped the stream from elsewhere (ok.ru/bilibili/9tsu/etc) or the movie was popular enough to be torrented in FHD/2k
i'll try again for some movies in the japanese academy awards page or something, but this made me think about how i feel like i've experienced pretty much most of what j-cinema and jdrama has to offer as the entire industry has a "status quo" mindset when they make content
i thought kokuho was going to blow my socks off but i thought it...was just ok. maybe i'll check out the novel later.

funny story: i used to cram kurosawa movies into my english reports all the time back in high school until my teacher pulled me aside and told me that it was great that i liked kurosawa, but i couldn't just brute force it into my essays when it had no thematic relevance to the topic lol
almost 40 now and i still think about that from time to time

I mean, that's normal. There's only a finite quantity of good stuff, or even less if you limit yourself to "classics". That's why I don't "force" myself to watch anything, even when I know that i'm gonna love it. I let stuff find me at the right time.

i watched the yakuza crossover when it was posted here a few weeks ago. i really like the older more romanticized yak movies made in showa. it's a bit hard for me to watch the newer ones seeing the state of them in the current year

yep. at the start of my japanese learning i really thought that i'd be engaging in every single piece of jp pop culture that i could find but it turns out i'm the sort of person who constantly needs the format to keep changing and give me new things in order to find it interesting. this is more in tune with how we enjoy content in the western world compared to how the japanese love tradition, familiarity and not straying too far from the foundations as a sign of respect to previous works.
i should've paced myself a little more and given myself time for introspection and appreciation instead of watching wrt quantity.

here's a longshot suggestion for you: there's an uploader on opensubs called ichi131 who regularly rips sub batches from netflix/amazon to the dismay of the japanese users there. try DMing him and he should do it for you

I'm kind of on the same boat but for me, rather than the novelty, it's the quality that bothers me. I guess there are 100, maybe 200, films/dramas left for me to watch. I don't want to stomach the rest which kind of sucks because how else am I going to learn by listening to 'real' Japanese voiced by non seiyuus and not burn myself out in the long run.
Honestly I'd be happy if I could just read books, which there should be a ton more, but I'd feel like a fraud unless I polished my listening.

Does furuhata not even have subs on netflix JP?
I thought their accessibility policy would force them to hire someone to transcribe it.
I'm paranoid it'll get my account banned and then I'll have to deal with family throwing a shit storm but maybe worth it
>>51014735
Will look into it, thanks anon.

This was great. There were two things I was afraid they'd change and thank god they kept them, sadly the Cosmonaut segment got the short end of the stick after all the shuffling.

While the vast majority of content on Netflix has subs, there are still a few shows that don't. Last I checked, Detective Conan still doesn't have them. They're very pro subs, but occasionally they just can't get them.
>I'm paranoid it'll get my account banned
They do not care. I switch IP probably 50 times a month, geolocking is a rights holder issue, no company cares if you happen to "hop on a plane" in 2 minutes and start using your account on the other side of the world.

It's a show where a man who is bad at games has to beat a game over 12 hours or so, condensed down to 40 minutes of highlights and 10 minutes of other stuff to break it up a bit.
