As much as I hate to say it, to be fair the Big Sight is still getting renovated and I believe the hall where tumorshit is having the largest renovations. Combine that with the usual decline in Summer Comiket's it makes sense that it's falling off. The fact that it still has an overwhelming lead on anything else with it's next biggest contenders being gachashit is still as disgusting as it ever was though, I've heard that h*l*live is in the middle of the process of imploding so hopefully when that ship goes down we'll finally be free of a majority of at least one cancerous presence in Comiket.

Nothing, since they basically didn't even exist on the internet in the 2000's and anon's a fucking retard for implying that's when they reached the entire internet. They were locked pretty much entirely to the goons and subsets of goon's Youtube channels that only had maybe 5k subscribers. It was the 2010's bare minimum when your Pewdiepies and Cryaotic's and Markiplier's showed up.

Wrong dumb idiot libtard, letsplays were already annoying in the 2000’s hence why channels like retsupurae had to become a thing.

Effortless content just watching a man or woman behind a screen play a game. It’s always been effortless. No cute anime 3d model oh the side will somehow make it more entertaining to me. Letsplays replaced genuine content on YT and lead to shit like streaming.

Touhou has lots of smaller events, including some dedicated to specific charactes. And there's a special Reitaisai this year (two including the one in Taiwan). There's much less reason to go to Comiket if you're a Touhou fan since you've got plenty of options that aren't the largest doujin market in the world.

If Touhou is all you care about, you'd probably just opt for the focused Reitaisai instead of the general Comiket. But then why not both? I dunno, maybe Comiket is more of a hassle to take part in. Or people have less money in their pocket so they limit themselves to one event. I recall reading most booths operate at a loss.

Without touching on the foreign events in relation to the average Japanese person for obvious reasons, the smaller events are basically nonexistent to 99% of Touhou fans who are event goers. Not because of their size, but because these events typically related around specific games or characters or EXTREMELY local, like fighting game tourney at your college local. Comiket is Comiket, you go there for a lot of things including Touhou rather than going there just for Touhou. In fact I'd say there's significantly more of a reason to go if you're a Touhou fan than Reitaisai, because an overwhelming majority of Touhou fans aren't exclusively Touhou fans. If you can make both events you absolutely should, but I don't think it requires much thought to come to the conclusion that "almost all Reitaisai circles go to Comiket, but not almost all Touhou Comiket circles go to Reitaisai".
Sorry if this is me just rambling about something unrelated to your post. And this isn't me trying to downplay any event let alone Reitaisai nor is this me trying to imply that Touhou's on a decline because of Comiket statistics or whatever, and I do understand how your thought process works, but I just don't believe the idea of "there's much less reason to go to Comiket if you're a Touhou fan because of the options" to be true.

>Without touching on the foreign events in relation to the average Japanese person for obvious reasons
It's Taiwan, not Zimbabwe. It's a bit of a trip but not impossible for a Japanese Touhou fan, and it's something a good amount of people are planning for.
>but because these events typically related around specific games or characters or EXTREMELY local, like fighting game tourney at your college local
No? They're normal events held at normal venues. They're smaller but they still get decent crowds for what they are and they're usually in big cities like Tokyo or Kyoto specifically because they're small.
>In fact I'd say there's significantly more of a reason to go if you're a Touhou fan than Reitaisai
This is flat out untrue God no. You get less artists, less of the community aspect (big for Japanese events), less unique Touhou things, no major merchants selling stuff (specifically Gift with their fumos), and Reitaisai is popular with kids and most parents aren't too interested in comiket compared to Reitaisai.
>"almost all Reitaisai circles go to Comiket, but not almost all Touhou Comiket circles go to Reitaisai".
It's very much the opposite, if you've been to comiket once you'd understand why a circle would be willing to skip it in favor or Reitaisai or something smaller.
