Oh new thread.
I just shot my M1A today. Had a couple of failures to feed in two or three out of 7 of my checkmate magazines with M118LR. I've been shooting the same rifle with the same magazines since October or so. Never had this happen before. Can you guys offer any insight? Maybe the magazines or the rifle was just dirty. I also replaced the stock recently and had to replace the connector lock pin to fit it. I ran my finger through the action to scoop up a lot of gunk and after that there were no more FTFs, so maybe it was dirty enough to cause issues there. I also had a failure to extract, kind of a odd thing but I think the open scope cap is what caused that. Anyway lately its been kind of frustrating because every time I change something on this rifle, I get a new problem. I hope its just changes in tolerances/settling into the new stock because after those two or three FTFs in the beginning the rifle ran smooth.

euro anon here
Steiner T and S series are still being made and they are worth it, T series are cheaper here (around 800€ for the 432) while S series cost more (1208€ paid for mine).
they are def worth it and come with either 308 or 223 ballistic reticle, for the S series, the illuminated reticle is done with a simple CR2032 battery and you have multiple settings including 2 NV settings for night vision

if you're on the US market then yeah, no reason to get one except a slightly better FOV. ACOG can still be found for cheap.
in the EU ACOG are unobtanium since the war in ukraine and before than they costed a minimum of 2000€ (3800€ for one with the RMR).
so it leave you with two choices, either the Steiner that cost 1k€ or the Elcan on brownells for a wooping 3500€

Genuine question.
How is the 3x optic in your opinion?
I'm looking at possibly getting a single optic carry handle for mine, but I hear that it's kind of dated. I want the aesthetic for sure, but at the same time, I'd like it to be practical as it will be my default 5.56 rifle.

I’m running the PA 3x SLX did you mean you have a 1x and a magnifier? The 3x is like the perfect level of magnification and can pretty much function like a dot.
>>65032411
Nta but they’re shit and a waste of money, peak aesthetics but literal airsoft tier, plastic cylinder with two screws and a spring to adjust, it’s a miracle it holds zero at all. Too bad Tommybuilt is gone, I’d tell you to get one of their rails that replicates the look and has a rail section where the optics go like I have.

The MP7 boondoogle put them under a year ago or more now. It’s lame because I actually liked their products and before the HK rifle explosion of the past couple years, they usually had stuff like bipods and things cheaper than HKparts.
>>
>>65041518
I didn’t pay attention to that can I get a qrd? I heard mumblings about mp7s but then I stopped hearing them and forgot all about it until your post. He’s not seriously done right? This can’t be happening.
>>
>>
>>
>>65041538
That is the QRD, tried to make MP7s, didn’t, chapter 11, pretty straightforward. I know their assets were split up between a few different companies that now offer their services, namely Black Ops Defense, a few others.

Took my JRA M14F out the other day to get a rough 25yd zero at the local indoor range. Disappointed with the results, pic rel. Felt like I was chasing zero over 100 something rds, so maybe it's the sights?
Best I can figure is I need to send it in to a gunsmith for proper tuning and setting, I've sone enough reading to know I don't have the skills or tools to properly set it right. Any tips or advice for things I could do? It had the trigger and bedding done before I got it, gas system is unitized. Might end up replacing the stock at somepoint with a blackfeather RS.
In other news, AE released an adapter for the M14s that replaces the front sight assembly, but it's only for 22" barrels. I'm gonna reach out to them and see if I'd be able to cut one down enough to fit an 18" barrel, slim chance but worth a shot.

Our water would be just fine if the Commifornian vampires stopped suckling all our water to grow almonds and avocados, then dumping the rest in the ocean because they can't risk cutting down a single tree to build a reservoir. Also we have way too many golf courses.

Total agreement. Hate the citrus grove conversions to lakeside home communities, hate the "build the golf course, they will come" strategy, miss the Lake Powell and Lake Mead overflows of the early 80s. Forgot, hate the illegals, but the Californians are worse.
>>
>>65044862
I'd take 1,000 illegals(if they are mexican) over 1 filthy Californian. Hell even the Michigan snow birds are getting on my nerves. All the recent developments are to please rich out of state boomers instead of the actual residents.

I live in the desert but I’m near some mountains that I can go to for snow. I was hoping this spot would have snow but it was only in the immediate area where I parked. Nice n slushy so my car is a mess. I don’t know Arizona though, you might be sol. You don’t have to move all the way North though.

Oh I know it gets cold and snowy for a few months. Use to live in Northern AZ for a few years. It was nice retreat from the heat and I have thought about moving back. But its not very populated and mostly old rich retired folks. I still want to be in a somewhat nice populated city with things to do. Im not a total live-alone-outdoorsman.

Yeah it’s not exactly bustling here. Those rich people have daughters and granddaughters in their 20s though. Is there anything you would recommend to see in Northern AZ? I’ve been to Page and that was awesome. I’m trying to come up with weekend trips. Right now I’m larping in the mountains but I left my boots so it’s not going as well as it could be. Lotta mud from the snow.
>>
>>65045740
I didnt explore nature up there very much unfortunately. Flagstaff is nice, I recommend the observatory and hiking anywhere around the mountain. Jerome is cool if you want to tour a TINY ghost town. Recently I took my wife on the train tour in Clarkdale. Basically a booze cruise but you get to see a lot of cool nature and learn some cool AZ history.

I’ll check out Flagstaff. It looks like I go through Page to get there and there was a trail I didn’t get to do because of a fire so this works out nicely. This pic doesn’t have a gun in it but I was shooting from where those fir trees are, kinda to the left of the center.

Just be smart, if you’re staying the night, eat early. There are no gas stations or little markets to get food after hours. After like 9 all the restaurants close and you can’t get food for 50 miles. Happened to me and my wife. Bar crawled all night then went to find food and found it was all closed. Luckily we packed extra sandwiches for the trip otherwise we would have had nothing. Also bring guns, everyone there gives off a small town horror movie murder vibe

My C308 has a Fren now. A PTR-91 A3SK. Got it in a trade from a dealer who had a new/old stock one from California so I promptly de-Californicated it. Currently has a Turkish collapsing stock and a Paki wide handguard.
Does anyone know if these take standard G3 flash hiders or are they threaded like US AR-10s? It has the solid metal Faux-hider meant for California and I have an HK-21 FH on the way. I suspect I might have fucked up ordering it because the thread pitch might be different. Also did they just spin them on for CA or is it rockset/locktite in place? I don't see any signs of pin/weld like the C308 brake is.
Also yes that's a 1980s Thermold magazine I got for $5 because it looks cool. I don't actually use it.

DSA sa58 question. I'm getting failure to feed on every third round, even on full gas.
Cases are ejecting just fine, is this a mag issue like I suspect? I'm not used to the platform. It's the polymer one it came with.
>>
>>
>>65060754
>>65060675
I have no issues with DSA polymer mags except for first round feed from a locked back bolt since my recoil spring is a bit tired, other than that, they feed just fine.
>>
>>
>>65060771
If you slingshot the bolt handle, it’s not an issue, it’s just using the magazine release button/lever that has about 50/50 chance of it happening. I have like 4 plastic mags and they all work, even after being left loaded for a few years. X-products drums work but opposite, it feeds every round but the last one. So 49 rounds of 7.62x51 instead of 50.

My point being neither X-Products and MagPul make FAL mags and DSA poly mags just don't give me boners. That said, I've bought DSA reconditioned surplus mags that are the best I own, excluding my unopened NIB FN mags.

what's the meta on surplus rebuilt G3/HK91 rifles now? I think these are really neat that they are close to the original HK and are affordable. Are Century or PTR good manufacturers? I hear horror stories about poor QC internals. I'm torn between these or an AR10 variant.

There can be a minumum duration for satisfaction, based upon drive time, setup, and readiness. I live close, prepack, load mags and have easy setup targets on public land. So it's not a big investme t to go and a brick of .22 can last all day. Usually, 50 rnds of centerfire is a minimum.

>They're both assembled by PTR in the same factory.
Damn. Its a hit-or-miss for me. Some retailers have mil-spec South American military surplus parts and some have their PTR new made stuff. I would like PTR's welded rail receivers though.

Pretty alright. I want to shoot but I need to replenish my ammo stocks. Other than that, I am waiting to get back on the flight schedule in my school and I feel like I should be studying more but don't feel like it. You can only review so much and getting too far ahead isn't really useful anyway.

>Went to my state's largest gun show today, in hope for 1903a3 stock
I swear it's easier to find a fucking unicorn than an A3 stock that isn't either sportizeried or overpriced to hell. That said I did pick up a G3 bipod for 80 dollarydoos and passed up a M65 jacket with liner for 30 (I came back for it later only to find out someone beat me to it, and congrats to that sob).

To be fair it was labeled Medium and I have freakish long arms and knowing my luck it won't fit me. So there's no point of crying over imaginery spilled milk, plus I like Tropentarn jacket better as back of the truck jacket.
Also I still think I made it out like a bandit with the bipod, and bonus to replace my original that doesn't work. (Literally one of the legs refuses to open and move despite cleaning and lubing).

Yeah this range was further away so I really should have brought more. I feel like I spent most of the trip getting dialed in and it wasn't until the end that things were heating up but then it was over.

Does anyone have the image of the different battle rifles on the market? I am trying to find something that isn't an M1, that isn't an M1A, isn't an G3, and isn't a SCAR. I am not interested in SCARs due to the suppressor situation and price gouging. That means I am also not really interested in a MARS either because I think they're asking too much for what they're offering.
I was thinking an FAL, but I can't find anyone selling an Imbel near me and the guys who are selling FALs are all asking hilarious prices for them. There is that Mormon guy, but something about his rifle looks wonky to me and it feels like I am buying too niche a gun were I to do that.
Is there anything I am overlooking? I need a rifle to throw an extra scope I have on, and I don't want another SCAR (regret, but I won't sell mine), or G3 (already have one). I would get an FNAR but that company who sells the handguard never has them in stock, so it's unobtainium in all likelihood. Oh, and I already have an AR-10. I nearly forgot.

I love you, Anon, but I will not fall for your tricks again after you told me that finding a mount for a scope on this would be next to impossible and cost an assload even if I did. It's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I'm trying to put a scope on a rifle, not have a rifle and a scope just stare at one another like wallflowers.
I was thinking about the Keltec because I don't a bull pup (lefty), but they claim it's fully ambi, so I'd just have to do my research first.

My couch is not as nice as the other Anon, and my build isn't done (still need the correct trigger group), but it came in today. Hopefully by the time my suppressor is done being processed I'll have that as well, and we can call it finished.

Best price lately, hopefully these aren't covered in mold/coke/anthrex like the ones from Midway. Honestly, pick up 10 and use them to store your spare mags. These will be worth over $6 in 10 or 15 yrs! You can't lose!

Original FMP parts kits with some original H&K parts assembled by PTR with a brand new PTR barrel and receiver. Mine came with an H&K bolt in in it! I have run about 300 rounds through it with no issues. Very happy with mine.

I found a German company selling them for a lot of money, but that was as of last year. I fired off an email to them to see if they are still even active since it's catalogue based ordering. No images either, so I requested some. Need to know if it's the full grip or just part of it like the airsoft repros tend to be

Palm rest. Wood grips in at RTG.
>>
>>
>>65076969
Apparently it's called a palm shelf. I found a company selling replacement ones for their non-wood copy of the grip. I am probably going to buy one, see if it fits the diameter of the one RTG I ordered and if it does then I'll drill holes, fit in some inserts, glue those into place and then screw the thing together. Should be pretty simple so long as the two fit.

Need some help identifying an optic on a listing I am interested in.
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1165633681
He says it's a 512, but it looks nothing like a 512 and also provides no info about which magnifier it is he has behind it. I am interested in this because it definitely looks like it's past the break in period (I read it's about 500 rounds), and has the foregrip that isn't sold anymore. If I can flip the two optics, I will, because I have a much better option on hand. Then I will just throw the Lucky Irishman handguard on there because I hate how the stock one looks. At that point this should be g2g, IMO.
