Hypothetically if you had a relatively prominent and defensible hill on your property and an unreasonable amount of free time how would you fortify it against an attacking force that could best be described as determined and crafty methheads. Kind of like modern equivalents to medieval brigands. Bonus points if it isn’t just First World War trench systems.

rule of thumb is you want your biggest gun to have the biggest killbox, so if you do go gatling gun, put it high up and definitely put it in your strongest bunker to maximize its effect.

A concrete or block tower and a series of steel fences with barbed wire, along with appropriate surveillance of the entire area with cameras behind bullet resistant glass. Have a local AI system like Blue Iris to make detection better. Add in a few FLIRs. No roads just trails or walkways. Buried power lines and fiber, protected transformer/panel inside some sort of bunker, can be open to meet local codes but not have any direct los from outside, simple right angles are enough. Preferably have some family/friends/neighbor. Shoot everyone trying to cut their way in. Honestly you probably want something super complex but this isn't a big deal. If the opponent is pure infantry and doesn't have access to mortars or ATGMs or the like then it doesn't take a whole lot of fortifications and firepower to be effectively invulnerable. Methheads aren't equipped for a siege.
If you want to theory craft, it'd be easy to further boost this as well, add in solar/wind+battery storage, or if you're a real richfag geothermal, now you've got redundancy from the grid. Have a big nice 2 level basement, with large amount of space for a walk-in cooler and dry storage, now you can easily have months and months worth of food. Etc etc, you can get elaborate with enough money/time. And if you want things to look pretty too you can spend nearly any amount. But a fort isn't hard.

The only thing currently on said hill is a well with a disheveled windmill over it. It would please the tism to have a functional fortification on my property so why not go full retard and build a proper castle that can stand the kind of artillery a committed redneck can build with a couple weekends spare time.
Picrel, it’s the equivalent to war wolf in this scenario

4-5 determined autistics with decent history knowledge and a 20 year timeline. Budget is limited by trying to start a family and various other projects cooked up on night shifts with little to do. Maybe something in the four figures a year

Sunken approach road(s), lots of trees, ha-has, lots of thermal game cameras (with Starlink and generators) doped tannerite wrapped in ball bearings on the backs of many of those trees, concertina wire like it's on fire sale, a literal shit-ton of treated stored water and nonperishable food, plus a few wells, lots of treated fuel and propane tanks, multiple 3M or Avon respirators and new filters, PVSs, thermal, solar panels and rechargeable batteries.
At least one 12.7, a heavy barrel AR running an SS and 40 rnd Pmags with + 5 Tarans, Battle rifles in every room, a Savage in .300WM with black tips
Dogs.
Drones. Lots and lots of drones, even just RC cars with pipe bombs.

Bamboo forest. grows far too dense to traverse and take a lot of effort and fuss to clear a path. you said unreasonable amount of time but bamboo grows pretty fast. hell when it’s in its adolescent stage tangle a few hundred yards of razor wire all around.

>dig shallow trench around property
>plant blackberries inside trench
>trench is now filled with nasty briar patch
there are probably other, even more unpleasant plants you could use but blackberries are tasty.

>Rent backhoe
>Build starfort
Log or pour concrete exterior walls and interiors, fill the rest with dirt from the moats. Done right the hill wouldn't even stand out as the hillside is part of the fortification. Local meth heads would only see the defense platform of the primary wall peak over the hill as they wander over one side trenchworks looking for copper and catalytic converters.

Try to reach out to your local university, they might help out with volunteers or contacts if you a historical route. Just put your guns inside/underground while the facade looks like a museum piece
And post progress on /k/, anons in the area might also help out for fun. If you're fine with monster girls I'll do your heraldry.

>defensible hill
Hobbit bunker, Motte & Bailey. Ankle rippen stones in an 8 yard strip around a narrow & steep culvert (with flood gates to direct outward into 4 different sectors to irrigate/swampify as needed in wet season); a relatively squat citadel on top, mostly for drone launches and observation with one way mirrors angled down and toward the interior. Hostile plant life as seems fit.

Thanks for all the ideas. This little obsession started because I was reading C. S. Foresters The Gun and was intrigued by the fact that Napoleons troops were basically immune to attack unless some lunatic Spaniard got a hold of heavy artillery. As with most places I’d imagine heavy artillery is quite difficult to come by in my area and castles are cool so I figured why not build one and make it functional for modern equipment. If I ever get done my other 37 projects I will update again with progress.

You dig down.
>This is why Israel is still in Gaza despite having half a million troops
>This is why the kurds have survived without a proper state all these years
>This is why We barely touched Iran's stockpiles and they can now retaliate.
You dig a tunnel and suddenly an army of a million with nukes to boot have to walk in a single file line into your fire.

No good, I’m on the Great Plains and there’s no solid rock below me for at least 150 feet. And based on my well report it’s shale. Not saying it’s impossible to get a tunnel down there but the engineering is prohibitive.
